:nanaki: When I first played the game I left it defult but the second time through I changed it and got rid of the XIII so it was rust Red, nowdays though I call him Nanaki cause it seems better what do you guys think? Have you every changed someones name like that, Like Cloud to Zack for ultimate confusion?

Most times Ive played FFVII ive called him firestorm coz thats what I called him on my original game... or I'll use nanaki... or red X... I dont like using red XIII though.. dunno why, just never did it for me!!!

I went through a phase of calling all the characters the name of the main character before them... like squall was called cloud, and zidane was squall.. that got a little messy!!! I usually keep the names the same though nowadays....

oh! and my first time through FFVII I called barret 'FatGuy'!! :barret: I dont think he'd be too pleased with me, do you?!?!

First time through when I named all my characters just stupid things I named Red 'Dawg Boi' for kicks. They all had retarted names.

I kept it Red XIII the first time I played. I usually just keep it the same, but I sometimes name him nanaki. You can get a humorous scene by doing that.

Guy in cosmo canyon: "Nanaki! You've returned!"
Cloud: "Who's Nanaki?"
Nanaki: "I am"

Or... something to that effect.

i always just left his name how it was because it sounded cool and it suited him so i thought why not

well i named him Samson... after my cat.. my cat is this big stron cat who was the king of the street and who beated up dogs for fun... now hes old and retired.. And since i think hes a cool cat i named Nanaki after him ^^...

and yeah i have often thought of the idea of calling him Nanaki :P...

I named him/her Lisa after a not so good looking girl I used to know at University.

Nanaki is a male he even has cubs one day - oh yeah spoiler

I called him rover once. Just for laughs. Last time i played i called him Dfor as in D for Dog.

called him benji for my dog before this time through just red, XIII was too long

I called him Red XIII then the second or third time I named Nanki, but I usualy just use the defult names for all characters.

Always called him just........ Red and that was the only name I'd changed

I called him Nanaki once but got annoyed with some of the plot holes that RD mentioned when you call him that. I just stick to Red XIII.

I've never really changed their names...
I remember on FFX my mate had changed Tidus' name to his (Aaron) and when he battled he could never tell if it was Tidus or Aurons turn...fool

That is very confusing thing to do, I personally have never really liked changing the defualt names aside from red cause then it feels well weird and not really a original story, I have tried naming cloud = Sephiroth, and Barret = Mr T etc but it didnt work for me

why the hell would you change clouds name to sephiroth lol

i usually stuck to the default names but on my first playthrough:

cloud: Spiky
barret: Fatty
tifa: Skanky
aeris: GoodyGoody
red: Tanky (after my dog with a y on the end to go with the pattern)
cid: Smoky
yuffie: Shorty
vincent: Bob

Well, I havn't really renamed any of my characters at all, though once I was told about somone who named all of his first characters Fuji or somthing like that and they started at Level 10...yeah anyway If I was to call Red anything else it proberly would be Naniki for the plot loop thing and so on.

Well, I am surprised I didnt see this sooner, when I first got the game, I named him Red, then Nanaki, then Kinte, then Red XIII, and as for everyone else:

Cloud- Cloud/Jon/Mike/Garret/Spikes
Barret-Barret/Nick/Cory/Big T (couldnt do Mr T)
Tifa- Tifa/Tifany/Anna/Melonchest
Aeris- Aeris/Leila/Samantha/Pippy (as in pippy long stockings)
Red XIII- its up there
Cid- Cid/Anthony/Phil/Hot-head
Cait sith- Cait sith first 3, then i named him Fatass
Yuffie- Yuffie/Yara/Roya/Ganker
Vincent- Vincent/ Mark/Sephomat(as Sephy's father, but it was really hojo)/ Silence

I called him Nanaki on my first time through completely by chance. I meant to call him Anakin, but got dyslexic momentarily.

I've never changed the names on my FF-characters, because to me that just weirds-up the game=P If I had called Barret "Fatty" (hillarious by the way^_^), I would just laugh whenever he talked, and that would've ruined the seriousness/darkness of the game for me.

At last I remember!! I think I named him Zink/c or something like that. I can't remember why, but I think because one of the spanish attacks of the game is like that.

I love calling him Nanaki, because then they all become confused for no reason at Cosmo Canyon.

Plus, Red XIII is possibly the most impractical name you can have or refer to anyone by.

first time through i called him chi chi, that was the name of my puppy at the time, but after that i just kept the default names.

I kept the Red XIII name, and I usually always keep the original names the first time through the game. Only time I ever changed one was when I played FFIX, and changed Zidane's name to mine since it was my first ever FF game.

Nanaki though, was a pretty sweet name as his given name. I'd use that the second time through whe I play it again in the future.

When I first purchase the game I left the names as it was but when I played it again I changed it. I think I named Red XIII to Shadow or something like that. Mostly I prefer to keep the names as it is when I buy video games.

my dad named aries after his X wife when they where married then when she died my dad thought it was destiny that he and his X would not work out.
