:cloud: Seriously FFX was the last FF I would call decent, X-2 is rubbish, and aside from that, notice all the F$%king monsters and weapons etc, and characters are all very similar to one another, I know the chocobo's and mogs link the series, but there is always a swordsman, thief, mage you know the goddamn predict ability of it al makes me want to scream -
"Oh look its another FF Game Yahhhhhhh, lets see if they have given it a new lame storyline and same characters with different names and a new gameplay system that is turn based yahhhhhhhhhhhh oh and add a cid and chocobos and mogs and all the same F%$king monsters with a few new upgrades and animations Yahhhhhhhhhh Lets face people no FF game will ever EVER match FF7, so why bother? Eh, I could care less that its almost the same. People are literally making i the same anyways cause they want the same thing. Another FFVII. Think about it. Final Fantasy VIII was not considred final fantasy by some cause of the lack of fantasy. Final Fantasy IX was too old-school by most. FFX was too linear and almost everyone hated the sphere grid. Final Fantasy X-2 was too open and happy. Final Fantasy XI is online.

Face it, almost everyone wants another FFVII and everytime SquareEnix tries something new, they get dirt kicked in their face. I still like what they're doing and its better than alot of the other garbage thats coming out. If they make it to XXX though, I really hope they change their name.

:cloud: My point is my friends and I have reached a realisation that something has to recharge this series and fast, maybe if they stopped trying to stab in the dark with Dresspheres and $hitty stuff like that then perhaps it would be a step in the right direction but they are crapping all over the FF series and its legacy I say that honestly as a true fan, I dont wanna see it die it is just well frustrating to think that Square Enix arent trying thier best :rude:

I hope they do keep on maiking ff's. Yes Crystal chornicles, was lacking and so was X-2, for that matter, X was linear, but i still had fun playing them. aside from CC, i plan to replay them. Even the ff's that didnt too real well, are a hell of alot better than some of the games out there. Not every game that is made is going to please every one. I hope they do continue to try different formats as long as occasionally they release one closer to the older ones.

Anyways... I think you are wrong, and who really cares what number of game that they are on or get to. I could understand that being an issue if every FF used the same characters, locations, etc in each title but because they don't it makes it totally different. Also I have to agree with Melancholy Rockit about people kicking dirst in SE's faces for trying to do something different. If every FF used to that materia and ATB gauge that FFVII did then think about how boring and rubbish they would be. SE can't stay in the past trying to recreate the glory of FFVII because that's not what being a games developer is about. They need to make the changes that they have done in every FF since FFVII or the games would be stagnent and boring kinda like what happened with the Tomb Raider series.

I must say that i AGREE with with Final cloud... thats why ive lost my FF spirit for the new games.. they dont interest me at ALL... so far that is.. But ive been playing FF since FFVII came out.. and i must say that i didnt loose my love for the games untill FFX-2!..

FFVII: well i LOVE it and still do and if they manage to make a game that is better then this they are GODLIKE in my heart ^^...

FFVIII: I was AMAZED!!.. the graphics where so out of this world when i got it and i was sucked into this really cool story and i loved it among all my fellow FF lovers where i live..

FFIX: I was disapointed that they had skipped the cyperpunk with a twist of older ages.. but thats because i love such enviroments in games... but still the game was rated HIGH in Denmark i remember.. and i gave it high critics as well .. it was interesting and ne and it wasnt bad.. just not my style that was all i had against it

FFX: i remember how ANXIOUS i was for this game.. me and my FF rival/mate knew that the game maybe where at my place, imported from abroad to get it a little bit earlier.. we sat at school and waited for the bell to ring.. and when it did we ran like we where chased by a ruby dragon on a bad day!... and there it was.. on my table, we quickly opened the game, put it in.. and went on a graphical journey which blasted our senses.. this could only be good and it made it to the top as one of the best game we have played on playstation... and we LOVED the Sphere grid!!!!... FINNALY SOME OPTIENS FOR US POWER ROLEPLAYERS TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR CHARACTERS LEVELS!!!... it was a new and VERY interesting idea and many hours was spend investigating and analyzing the best way to level up.. BRILLIANT idea ^^..

FFXI: never got to play it and never will since im a WOW player and i must admit that the univers of warcraft is VERY interesting and i have studied and analyzed it since WCII... so dont got time to play it since im aiming for the top ;)...

But then it came... FFX-2.. this game i had imported from Honkong... and what a waste of money... this game was also a graphical sensation.. but the story was too lame in my opinion and it really never cathced me... and yeah they gor a really... SPEACIAL level and technique system... a little too special.. change clothes WTF !? >.<....

I need to see more of FFXII to make a real opinion... so far i just havnt seen any interesting trailer that says "BUY ME OR YOULL REGRET IT!!"...


So yeah in these last years there havnt been any news that makes me wanna buy the next FF game... And that makes you think that they have lost their touch.. and maybe they have who knows ??... and ofcourse theres ALOT of talk about how cool it would be to make a remake of FFVII.. come on it would be AWESOME!!... some "real" fans (yeah riht like you aare any better then us ^^) may say that it ruins the spirit of the old game... excuse me ??... it doesnt AFFECT the old game god dammit!... its not sold in stores anymore and its not like the old game will vanish into the air if a remake was made >.<... the only thing that it could do was to make new comers interested in the debths of the FF stories... and think about it.. i LOVE graphics.. and that game made with new modern graphics would be so much of an experience.. and it would make you really SEE how the journey affects your team and how they interact with each other as a team.. and they could still make another sytem on how the materia would work and such.. that wouldnt bother us at all.. it would be a total new game just with the same story.. its been so many years that w wouldnt mind that it was remade.. come on it would be so much of an experience that all of us FF fantatics here in my area would invest in a PS3 if the game only came to that consol.. I'd like to say that FF III and VII were the best i've ever played. i agree with alot that was said from everyons point of view. FF was never ment to be the same, I didn't like Chronicals, and X wasn't anything to jump for. XI is great but 'cause its online the poeple that play it make it what it is. good or bad... I look forward to XII 'cause its not to be turn based from what i hear. I love FF 'cause its like a life that one could only dream of, or play lol. I'm really big into the the Fantasy idea of life and what other think of it. and SE has brought that to use. So thanks SE, not everthing or "game" will be perfect but its fun to play atlest once ^^

Now, I do see your point and I agree the FF games of recent have been declining in quality, although whilst FFX-2's story was rubbish, it does have some very good points.

FF7 is my fave, sure. However, the most recent one I played, FF10, was probably the equal second placed one along with FF8.

My passion for Final Fantasy games has lasted for almost 6 years now and I can't see it diminishing.

Well i hope they keep making them and i dont care if they are 'lame' by your standards i find them quite good. I even found ffX-2 alright too i didnt mind it at all and its not really the weopons and stuff that i play it for i like being in an imaginary world and i like seeing a better world then what we live in now and they stick to that storyline so i like to play it

I considered making a STOWA-long post, but decided to paraphrase a ton. I started playing FF on the very first NES one, love it to this day even though I can't stand the newer ones, and don't bash the FF future until XII comes out. Every shred of info thats been released makes the game out to be awesome.

I personally think they are slowly loosing ideas because ideas have already been used in other games or preivious Final Fantasy games.

Which, inevitably will lead to the downfall of the series. The only continual game that they could probably support for the next 30 years is an MMORPG. There are plenty of ideas that an MMORPG can have that can not be used in an RPG.

I might start playing some of the older Final Fantasies (1-6) if I can get ahold of them because of recent events, I've taken an interest in them.

If you don't like Final Fantasy then there's no point ranting about it, go play another great series of rpgs. Oh wait. There are none as good as it.

Now before I am shot for going off topic, yes, I believe SE will run out of ideas soon, but it doesnt matter. You know how many rehashes of ideas there aer now. Look at most FPS's. Most action games. TV, Movies,...even books. Almost every idea is a rehash nowadays and not original. We just don't know cause they're a rehash of older generations. When someone innovates a new concept/ technique for video games...they'll have newer/rehashed ideas for a newer generation

Same here, except I started to lose interest at FF9, In my opinion its when I started to notice the decline in story, side quests, and originality but don't get me wrong I liked FF9 its just at that point I started noticing that square began focusing more on the graphics and FMV's and lacking in other areas and from then on out its been alot of flash bang stuff with no substance in there games.

I agree media in all forms is rapidly running out of ideas, which is a shame, I'd just like them to make an effort again, I wanna see the equalivent of FF7 on the Ps2 before Ps3 takes over that is all, I mainly wanted to compare what Square once was to what they have or seem to have become

Though I have to admit that I think some of the FF's are better than others, I still don't think that any of the FF's are bad! Compared to other, average games, FFX-2 is an amazing game (even though this is the FF I like the least)! Square has an ability that none/veeery few of the other game-producers have when it comes to making long, difficult, and complicated games with stories that suck you in.
I hope, and know, that SE will continue making Final Fantasies, even though none of them will "beat" FFVII. But that's okay, because that's just how it is. FFVII is a game-legend, one could say. And that's hard to beat!

People are talking about how SE needs to renew themselves..however..for every disgruntled customer shall I say, there are 10 that are happy. FF games aren't exactly hurting in sales..even if it's just because they have the FF name, SE doesn't see a problem if sales are still up.
