Title: Concerning Signatures
Ross - September 9, 2005 10:22 PM (GMT)
If you have more than one signature, pick the one you like best and use it. We don't have very specific rules for sigantures so this is quite reasonable. Its ok to have a signature and a few small banners or a bit of text, but 2+ signatures is ridiculous.
Everybody has about 24 hours or so until I start deleting peoples sigs that have more than one signature in it.
(If I get one post in this topic saying sorry or complaining I'm going to flip out)
Only posts that are appropriate: asking if your sig is ok
Kryptonite_Dude - September 9, 2005 10:26 PM (GMT)
In addition to 1 major sig a few small banners aren't a problem however do not abuse this with 20+ banners and same goes for text. Nothing wrong with a line or 2 but please don't make it excessive.

Umm, I'm not to sure about mine, I think the 'Drifter Designs' One is over limit, it's just a advertisment, but I'm not exactly to sure if it's over the limit.
Ross - September 10, 2005 05:31 AM (GMT)
Nah yours is fine I actually thought it was all one image at first...
Azarath Angel - September 10, 2005 04:59 PM (GMT)
Hey...um...is mine okay. I know there is 2 but its like a set.
SpinningFree - September 10, 2005 05:05 PM (GMT)
are we allowed to have marquees? because if not just tell me and i'll take mine off.
Calvat 69 - September 10, 2005 05:25 PM (GMT)
This, may only be my bad Oppinion, of the two Posters above.
Aza: the Nightmare one exeeds when it's with another signature.
Spi: Marquees are fine as long as the coding doesn't make a size of a Wallpaper
Ross - September 10, 2005 06:07 PM (GMT)
Calvat I've warned you for that for 2 reasons,
1. It is not your place AT ALL to tell people if their signatures are OK
2. I said ONLY to post if you are asking if yours is ok.
Aza: Please remove one
SF: Its fine

I understand this is trying to rescrict lagging down, which CAN cause members to leave, If you want to do that you can find out how to lower the rescrictions in MB, So then they can over have a signature that isn't animated, and everything will load fast. Many good forums do that now, especially ones like soccerpulse, Pokecommunity etc.
Ross - September 11, 2005 04:03 PM (GMT)
Please read the rules I specified in the first post, and don't tell me how to run my forum. I don't tolerate any crap in forum talk so you're getting a warning.
Kryptonite_Dude - September 11, 2005 05:49 PM (GMT)
This isn't about lagging this is about people have a screen full of signatures and not being able to see any of the content of posts without excessive scrolling down
TheMissingCloud - September 11, 2005 06:08 PM (GMT)
Would it be ok if AzA just got rid of the space between his two sigs? They would look ok together with no space, but then that doesn't really cut down on the bandwith assuming this is the problem at hand.
Anyway is my sig ok?
I don't really think it is, but as you know if I could edit it I would. If it's not ok I will send you a new code to change it to, if you don't mind.
Kryptonite_Dude - September 11, 2005 06:34 PM (GMT)
Sorry Aza but it's gotta be the same for every1. Set or not you can only have 1 main image. Tmc I'm afraid yours is a fair bit too big too so if you could remove 1 of the images also that would be appreciated

*LAST CALL FOR SIGS*
In exactly one minutes time I am going to be getting rid of signatures that have more than one picture.

I know this isn't my place to state this, but if I get banned -shrugs-
Consider this helpful advice.
Talk like that will only teem to drive off members...not bring them in. If you want to keep a strong member's base...things of what I just quoted might not be said in front of all members. Might want to PM that to them or whatnot. Again, I am not telling you how to run this establishment, it's more of a helpful reminder.
Also, if you cut the size (actual file size) limit down, it does tend to make pages load faster for us dial up users.
One last thing: Why do I know about the file size thing? Take it from a computer fanatic...yeah.
Ross - September 23, 2005 03:17 AM (GMT)
If you really think I care that a member with 15 posts leaves, you're sadly mistaken. I will have to also warn you sadly for not only making a rude post, but also disobeying the direct rules of this topic.
I am well aware that file sizes can be limited as I know my way around the entire Admin CP better than you or any member here so please take that into account before you bud your head into matters that don't concern you.
One last thing: I don't care if members with 21 posts leave either.
Now that a dead topic has been spammed I'll have to be closing this.

You've completely missed the point in us limiting the dimensional size of signatures. Sigs are the last thing to load on a page so if it's a big file and takes a while to load it's no major issue. We've limited the dimensional size because we're fed up with people making 2 line posts accompanied with half a page of graphics. 6-7 posts like this in a topic and you have to scroll for hours to see the content. The content of the topics is all we care about. This loads first and if people can't see othe peoples sigs that isn't a problem. If they can't see any content because of 3+ images in someones sig that IS a problem which we've now rectified by imposing the dimensional size limitations.
I couldn't agree more with everythingross just said. Please understand if we say somthing about the size of sigs it's because of the size. If we wanted to limit the file size instead, we would have
