Title: Registration Enabled

Ross - August 31, 2005 06:51 PM (GMT)
It's been a pain not having new members, but KD and I feel its safe to reopen the forum to new registrations.

Right now, registrations are set to e-mail validation, which gives us a lot of different options to protect the forum against spammers, but the only way to 100% block them out is admin validation. Admin validation will be a last means to protect the forum, and it will not be put into action unless the forum is abused again and again by new registrations.

Just so everybody knows, we'll be watching new registrations very carefully.

My e-mail addy is on my profile. If you see anything you consider suspicious please e-mail me asap as I've just hooked this up to my mobile so I should be able to get online and sort it out quickily.

Chin up forum we're better than anything spammers can throw at us

watchwoman sf reporting for duty!
*salutes so hard she smacks herself in the head and falls over*

Ross and K_D'd have to look over new people who's attempted to register and active the accounts manually (if they activate them at all, in the case of a known spammer). Its the safest from of valadation, but gives the Admins an added workload.

Yeah, I'm glad that we're opening up registration again...but the time without it sure led to a huge reduction in rezzing/spamming XD. But its nice getting new faces. Did we ever findout for sure who the culprits spamming us were?

TheMissingCloud - September 1, 2005 12:08 AM (GMT)
^What's it matter who did it? What are you going to do about it if you know? Spam thier board or hack it? Then you would just be stooping as low as them, not to mention making us look bad as well. Yeah I'm a big believer in revenge and eye for an eye philosphy, but somethings just aren't worth it.

I'm glad registration is open now it will be nice to see some new faces and potentialy active members. I can't say I wont miss having nearly no spam and rez's though.

Ok, if you can find one statement I said that even remotely sounded like I was going to go to their board and hack/spam/"stoop to their level"/make you look bad I'll take the ban for conspiring to do something against the forum rules. I asked because Ross and K_D said they were working on looking to see who actually did it, not because I wanted to retaliate, but because I was wondering if the opening of registration meant the found out and think they solved the problem. Chill out

Sigh... no need for all this. It was just meant to let people know that registration was enabled again, and was left open for any questions people might have. No need to start a debate/arguement, though I'm sure it was neither of your intentions.
