Title: Battle System

Goose - July 23, 2005 02:24 AM (GMT)
I'm not really up to date on the adb... or what ever its called, but is the Final Fantasy 12 Battle system going to be like the Kingdom Hearts Battle System?Or, does your person stand still?

You will be able to control one of your three characters, and move around.. the others will follow you and you can also give commands to tell them what to do. The monsters will have brains for the first time in history, if they see you and want to fight you, thinking they can win... they'll come and chase you. If they are too small or weak, they'll run away from you. If you want to try something similar to the system, rent a .hack game and you'll get a good idea of how it is. Also, no more victory stances or anything.

I'm not really sure if I'll like this new battle system or not.. It reminds me a bit of the battle system in Star Ocean-Till the end of time, and I didn't like that too much.

The battle system will be similar to that of Final Fantasy XI, where you press "X" to target the monster, and triangle will probably bring up your battle menu. Your battle menu will have different options, including attack, pressing attack will engage you into battle with the monster.. Keep in mind, in FFXII, the monsters are always on the map, you dont just run into random battles. Durring battle, you have control of one character, and it allows you to run around freely, and place each character to whever you want (you will be able to switch characters I assume..) And, if you're in trouble, you simply run away.

Some monsters will leave you alone and not attack you unless you attack them. Others will attack you on sight/sound/smell/low HP etc... If you are in battle with a particular monster, and another monster of the same type sees you fighting it, it will help kill you.. (not all monsters will link like this tho).. Anyway, bascally what Ive heard so far.

Well you guys answered his question basically, so all I'm going to say is that I'm looking forward to this style and can't wait to give it a try. Release date can't come fast enough!

Bob Dylan - January 17, 2006 08:24 PM (GMT)

Bob Dylan - January 19, 2006 02:49 AM (GMT)
Damn, it's not a playable demo?

SSJ_Aeris - January 19, 2006 02:53 AM (GMT)
Yeah, its a playable demo. Unless they have some other demo out there I dont know about. The demo that came with Dragon Quest 8 was playable though.

i liked star ocean combat system and .hack's was okay...

I am very optimistic about this game in general. As I have already said, when Square slows down and takes their time in development they usually make a kickass game.

BustaMo - January 19, 2006 05:29 PM (GMT)
Tentative release date is Tuesday August 1, 2006. Key-word though, tentative.

I just hope FFXII doesn't start out as slow and dull as Star Ocean did. Ugh.

Palglo - January 21, 2006 02:43 AM (GMT)
The combat system in my opinion is gonna kick arse, and so is the game waiting for it is like waiting for a dam transplant of some sort, as in ur lives not worth living without it (sort off). Anyway should be alot more realistic
