I like to call this "Bring that member back"... sounds like a game, right? Well, it kinda is. But it has to do with helping the forum out, so it really does belong in Forum Talk.

Anyways, down to business. There's quite a few old member that the site is really missing, so we thought we would leave it up to our current members to help us out! This is basically how it's going to go... theres a list of members just underneath this, and rewards for bringing them back to the site, and depending how many posts/how active they become, you'll be eligeble for some different prizes.

Let's start with the list.....

......woooooah. Pretty big, right? Yep. We've got lots of old members that we'd like to see again, even if it is just for a post or two. I can guarantee you won't be able to get a few of these members to be active, but if you could get them to even stop by once and say hi then you're still eligible for a prize!

As I was saying, depending on how active the members become, you're eligeble for different levels of prizes. It's been discussed, and this looks like a pretty fair system to reward members:

Level 1 - Member comes back and posts once or twice

-PM box +10 messages per post to a maximum of 10 posts (so up to 100)

Level 2 - Member comes back and posts around for a couple days, making about 20-30 posts

-PM box + 150 messages

OR

-Have a custom clickable (so it shows up in the 12 main) smiley of your name for a week

Level 3 - Member stays for around a week, posting daily at least a few times each day

-change the marquee to anything you'd like for a week
AND
-PM box +150 messages

OR

-have an advertisment (either link or 88x31 button) at the top of the site (about the "active topics" link) for a week
AND
-PM box +150 messages

Level 4 - Member becomes an active user again (or at least semi active, posting at least a couple times a week)

- name changed to any color of your choice (including "admin deep pink", "supermod lime green", "moderator sky blue", or "gfx team white"!) for a week
AND
-PM box +200 messages

OR

-change Ross's avatar OR member title to anything you'd like for a week
AND
-change KD's avatar OR member title to anything you'd like for a week
AND
-PM box +200 messages

OR

-change the name of the Gnome Forum to anything you'd like for a week
AND
-PM box +200 messages

Now I know what you're thinking... how do we know how long the member plans on staying... (well chance are you weren't thinking that, but there's still a possibility). Anyway, thats another factor. If you can get the member to come back and post... but you don't know how long they're planning to stay, you can either choose to take one of the lower level prizes right away... or wait and see how long they stay around and have a chance at one of the higer level prizes.

Kudos to anybody that read all that, or anybody that got the jist of it and plans to help us out by getting in contact with some of these members.

TIP

I would suggest checking out their profiles for an MSN/AIM contact name, and try talking to them, or emailing them. If you need any help with an email or something, I'd be happy to help so just drop me a PM.

:edit: forgot to mention, to prove you're the one that got the member to come bacck, get them to PM me or something.

I have a question. what if the person doesnt PM you but you claim to be the person who got them to come back but you dont believe the person. what happens then?

I'd believe them most likely... even if you didn't get a member to come back and claimed you did, and somebody else did... but you took credit... congratulations, you've cheated your way into an extra 10 PMs O_o I think most members here are mature enough.

I don't really know what you're getting at, but no members have an obligation to stay active on the site... we can't force them to stay. If any members can get an old member to come back, even if its just for a couple of posts, this is a way of rewarding them.

It'll be fun having some of the old members back!!! Plus I so want my own smile (as if garnet isnt mine already though!!! ;oP) or i deally.. I want to customise the marque!!!!! and im sure there are alot of people who wanna change your member title!!! hehehe!!!

Yeah, I figured that one would get people going.. but personally I feel that changing the gnome forum to whatever you'd like for a week + 200 messages in your PM box is the best deal!

You might as well take Jason off that list because he's not coming back to the forum and from the looks of things the net at all. Same goes for CC I tried to contact her via email a few months ago, but her Hotmail account no longer exists so that's 2 down, even though I'm doing the oposite here. Ok we all have to get Holy Joe and VincentValentine back, I didn't really know those guys too well, but they were so cool. That's at the top of my to do list when I get the free time. SO yeah great idea.

I've sent an E-Mail to parkspapercut, and later on I may find him on mesenger so yeah I'll look out for him.

Good idea Ross! I think I'll take Aeysuku, Tiamat, and Darktiger. I remember getting on with them and I actually miss seeing them around. So I'm off to harrass them now via e-mail...

If members come back don't you think you should cross them off the list? Also put a little sign next to them - active member / caem back for a little while (etc etc).

Hmm...well I talked to parkspapercut awhile ago, he said then that hes kinda busy with other things. He does drop by every now and again, but I think hes busy with schooling or something like that...

well i cant suggest getting CC back... she got kinda weird in the last time she was here... ended up with i got a PM saying that i and the others shouldnt ever contact her again and if we did she would do someting bla bla bla... appearently i got told by one of her friends that she refused to speak with non english persons... strange indeed but thats what i got told :P...
