Title: Rejoice XB360 fans!
Leona - July 14, 2008 07:31 PM (GMT)
For FFXIII will be gracing your dirty console!! (ok.. I'm being waaaay over harsh about the Xb360... It's just I spent all my hard earned money on a PSŁ in anticipation of FFXIII and now it turn's out i could have just stuck with the xbox 360.... damn!!)
ANYWAY.... being the E3 freak I am, I just discovered the news... hot off the press. What a blow to sony eh? Almost all their Big Bad sony only series have on moved to mult-console. Bet it's gonna hit their pockets hard.
The good news of course, It is still on PS3!! (good news for all of us who already brought the console anywho! plus... playing FF with a xb360 controller is just weird!
Oh... and Hiya everybody! Long time no see! x :garnet: x

This does not bode well for Sony. At all. They were 100% depending on FFXIII and MGS4 to pull them out of the slump they're in. Although, this isn't as bad as when they lost GTA. My god, that was bad, especially since it is now one of the highest selling games of all time.

LEONA! :garnet:
I agree, it will be quite a blow to Sony and not the good kind. I wonder what will happen with Resident Evil 5, that like DMC4 was suposed to be a PS3 only game, but I could see them making it for 360. I think developers are doing this because the PS3 still isn't selling very well and if you invest all that time in a game you want people to buy it. Does anyone know if MGS4 is a PS3 only game or if they are going for 360 as well? Has that game even been relased yet? I don't know this stuff I don't keep on top of VG news much anymore. ...Maybe we should just turn this into a general E3 thread.
I'd also like to see more multi-consol games reach the Wii. It seems like developers are skimping out on them because of presures to implement the Wii-mote into the game play versus having to plug in a normal controler.
FFVIICloudS - July 14, 2008 08:00 PM (GMT)
first ill just start off by answering TMC's questions... yes the game is out, came out two weeks ago maybe, well here in the US its out not sure about other places, but i think it has... also it is a PS3 exclusive but i believe in a year or two the game will cross to XBox
I also thought i read news about FFXIII going to the Wii also 0__O
this is going to be a problem for Sony, now all the fanboys have another reason to bash Playstation users and say that their XBox's pwn everything even more... money wise it shoulndt affect them so bad, they still have other games they are counting on
its not going to be bad at all in Japan from what i think, especially when theres a game like Valkyrie of the Battlefield coming out... if you guys havent seen anything on that you should look up some trailers or gameplay that has been out that game looks really good
for me though, "eh" i have a PS3 and thats what im going to get it for, also because I dont have and am not planning on getting a 360
BustaMo - July 14, 2008 08:17 PM (GMT)
Oh my gosh are you serious?!?! that is great! I bought a 360 last year and figured that FFXIII would be PS3 exclusive, and I'd have to borrow a friends PS3. DAMN! Awesome!Q!!QE!
RA is right though, this is gonna hurt Sony's potential sales...

OMG!..
Clear the headlines!.. Sod the FF on Xbox news... Leona has posted here! o.O...
On the matter of the topic.. Wow if this is true.. its an era that is gonna end :o... didnt see this one comming.. and aye this is gonna be a tough one for Sony i think.. Personally it might be the thing that decides what console im gonna buy.. as in general.. ive been having a hard time finding something i wanted to PS3 compared to the games released here for Xbox-360..
Im not into gaming news and such anymore.. or of both consoles status really.. but cant be good for Sony..
And on to another important topic.. Leona where have you been?! o.o... miiiiiiiissed you!.. missed our chats as well
Stephen Griffiths - July 15, 2008 07:30 AM (GMT)
Hey, FF started on Nintendo, done the rounds on Sony, and now ended up on Microsoft. Personally im happy about this news, mainly because i dont have to buy a new console (which i knew enevitably would happen, no matter how much i said it wouldnt)
Leona! woo!
Vespertine - July 15, 2008 11:10 AM (GMT)
Ouch... Although I heard that in Japan it was still a PS3 exclusive. So maybe SquEnix have done it because they think the 360 is more popular in the West so they figured they would maximize game sales but making it available on both.
To be honest though I would still get a PS3, mainly because there are other games besides GGXIII that I want the console for. There just aren't that many on the 360 that I want compared to the PS3.
Oh and it's great to see you again. :tifa: I wondered what you were doing last night when I quickly hoped on.

Its not as bad as you make it out to be.
While Sony is behind in sales, it is still doing very well. The cost of the system is now at a more 'reasonable' price, and it is still (by far) the most powerful system on the market. It also makes a decent Blu-ray player, which attacts those looking into one (seeing how Blu-ray players are also expensive.
If you remember awhile back, Microsoft endored HD-DVD, which was a 'huge blow' to them but overall it has not affected them at all.
The PS3 is just appealing to a different crowd, IE the adult audience. It is not aimed at those 12 year old Rtards who like to scream on XBox Live (sorry for the generalization).
TheMissingCloud - July 16, 2008 01:49 AM (GMT)
^lol
I think I broke it down once and even though they have nearly the same games, save for one or two exclusives that I like and regardless of the price difference I'd still take a PS3 over a 360. Slightly off topic, but wasn't Blu-Ray suposed to be the wave of the future? I thought HD gave up and was going to be a thing of the past, but yet HD television is a big craze now? If they aren't going to be making any HD movies shouldn't people be looking the Blu-Ray TVs or is it essentialy the same thing just on a different format?
Also as SG mentioned it was only a matter of time before Final Fantasy crossed over to Microsoft, in a way they already had a long time ago (PC games anyone?) and there were rumors of FFXI coming out for 360, which became a reality really bridging the first gap for FF on the Xbox system.
More than anything like FFVIICloudS said the main reason I don't like this idea is just because I don't want to put up with all the supid Xbox fanboys taking the piss out of Sony and Nintendo. Of course I don't plan on ever venturing to moronville aka Xbox-live so I should be good...there's just the internet to deal with and I've already lost all respect for humanity due to some the doorknobs on YouTube and larger forums.

The Dreamcast was the most powerfull of the tier 3 consoles... that didnt work out well. Power doesnt always equal instant success, for example i believe (i may be wrong) that the Xbox was the most powerfull before the next gen's and that failed epicly aswell. As for Blu-Ray i have no patience for it, half of the Blu-ray films are uber expensive, i dont notice much of a difference. the PS2 was great, but the PS3 has been really silly with what it's doing.

Nope. MGS4 is staying an exclusive. It was going to be released multi-platform, but Hideo Kojima, creator of the MGS series fought long and hard to make sure it stayed exclusive. And he was the only man who wanted it thus. If it ever does get ported to 360, Kojima will sue the arse off whoever did it. Not to mention the fact that it filled a Blu-Ray disc to its full capacity (50GB). So imagine how many DVDs (4.7GB) it would fill. You'd need an entire disc for the ending movie sequence at least.

Okay, here's the dealio. Its still an exclusive in Japan, so Japan will get it months before the rest of the world. When it reaches the Sqeenix base in Europe, they'll be using the PS3 version obviously, it'll be translated, re-dubbed, probably edited slightly, and then once that version is done, it will be ported to 360. I personally would still get it for PS3, just because I always have, and I think it would look better. And again, the data space thing with 360 only using DVDs...Imagine it. You're watching the opening sequence. The title "FINAL FANTASY XIII" flashes before you. Then the screen goes black and a box pops up "PLEASE INSERT DISC 2"
Okay, maybe not THAT bad, but close enough...

When they say HD, they mean Hi-Definition. HD-DVD is the failed format. HD is still alive. Just means everything looks prettier. Blu-Ray is the only HD movie format available.
On a side note, currently Final Fantasy Versus XIII is still a PS3 exclusive currently. I hope it stays that way. Thats the really sexy one.

As an owner of an Xbox 360 for about a year and a half now, I've been known by my friends as somewhat of an Achievement Whore for Xbox games. I love finding out what the achievements for a game are before the game is released and I get it. I love working through games to get these achievements like crazy as well.
I looked back at the 360 version of FFXI and most of the achievements deal with maxxing out the levels of certain character classes.
I am quite curious as to what FFXIII holds for it's 360 version achievements.
Lokkin - October 7, 2008 10:46 PM (GMT)
Sony were always going to find it difficult to keep games exclusive. When games are designed to specific engines that all consoles can support, its difficult to monopolize it. I have a 360. My girl has a PS3, but I've never seen one being played, so I dont really know, but I don't imagine the performance is that much different from Microsoft's baby.
I DO so hope they can save the series with this, FFX-2 and FFXII were a big blow to me.
And not the good kind.

lol! Damn I missed her return lol.
Anyway this news sucks (for me)... great news for your XBox owners but as PS3 owner I feel like it's rapidly become unnecessary seeing as how all games are being released on every console. GTA, Devil May Cry and now FF.
Back in the 90's I was all smug knowing that my friends who owned an N64 (actually none of my friends owned one, but whatever) only had Goldeneye and a select few other games to brag about while I had Resident Evil, MGS, GT, Silent Hill, Tekken, Tomb Raider, and yes FFantasy too.
In the PS2 era the lines became blurred a bit but I still had a lot of exclusive games that owners of the XBox were unable to play, but now it feels like Sony has let me down and I could have just bought a 360 (though I would have to get used to the pads) and been able to play exactly the same games without paying nearly as much. The only games I care for that are exclusive to the PS3 are Metal Gear Solid and Tekken and I can even see them going multi-platform.
Hopefully Little Big Planet will save Sony's blushes as they are surely getting their ass kicked in this console war.
