Title: No Anime Cons Here, No Cosplay Here....
Description: There's no Cosplay in Las Vegas, NV!
Sabrina_Chan - September 2, 2003 01:45 AM (GMT)
Las Vegas seems to hate all anime fans, the closest you get to a con is a American comic con!
ARG, it's so unfair. They're all in Cali and they don't like to appear here unless I'm some where else. Example: When they had one two years ago I was in New York, our car broke down in the rain on the way. *Sobs*
I'm not sure if this really counts but the closest I got to Cosplaying was on Halloween and I was Yuna from FFX-2. It was funny to see everyone look and stare and wonder what I was. XD
Anybody live in a no CosPlay, no con town and/or state?
tYCHou - September 2, 2003 08:04 PM (GMT)
Believe me, ALL of us here at Fem-Gri-La know exactly what you're talking about. We don't have any anime conventions in our STATE. Nie-Chan, Pan pan and I braved a 22 hour road trip just to go to A-Kon down in Texas. NDK, the convention we go to every year is still about an 8 hour drive and it's the closest one to us! So we definately feel your pain.
BTW, anyone else headed to A-Kon? It would be fun to meet other fans there. ^.^
Ty-Chou
Youkai-chan - September 2, 2003 10:30 PM (GMT)
There is only one con near where I live and it's also eight hours away so I haven't been yet but I'm planning on going this year so I will try to get there. I know how you feel about the staring I get it all the time
Kawaii_Neko - September 2, 2003 11:55 PM (GMT)
There aren't any cons in my state either! The closest ones are all in California! So, in other wodrs, I've never been to one, or even cosplayed. *sniffle* Poor me.
Kawaii_Neko - September 2, 2003 11:56 PM (GMT)
Sabrina_Chan - September 3, 2003 02:23 AM (GMT)
So much pain... *Sniffs*......just because someone doesn't like anime in their state or people can't remeber that state/town.
Gahh! I wanna know who thinks that anime cons shouldn't be in a state or something? Or what thinks this... It must be a what that is going agasint anime, I bet it!
nie-chan - September 3, 2003 06:49 AM (GMT)
Tychou meant NDK not A-kon. Anyone heading to NDK? It is in Denver during the weekend of the 19th. <_<
Ok, you want to hear about staring? Ok, here I go! lol
The only local convention we have is a Science-fiction convention. Recently the Fems and others from our club and the other local anime club volunteer to for the anime room. Well, we do need to eat. So we leave the hotel and head downtown (the hotel is practically downtown, but we went to "downtown" -mall- foodcourt) In our costumes, like we're going to change?
I'm Yugi (but my hair didn't work out...curse you hair!!), Tychou is Kaiba, Tychou's siblings were Bakura, Mokuba, and Duke Devlin, Pan~pan was the Dark Magician, but NOOOOOOoooo she didn't want to wear her head gear downtown, No-chan was Kenshin and Eric was well...he was Eric but he cam with us. (We ditched Kime because she already ate, but she was Sonosuke.) :ph43r:
Ok, the point of my story is we were totally stared at leaving the hotel, getting on and off the trax (kind of like a train, Chicage L thingy) and when we went into the mall. The BEST stare was after we separated to go to the various food places. Pan~pan and I went to Panda Express; as we made our way over there we had some guys staring and this one was a total mouth drop stare! He was probably thinking "WHAt the CRAP??!!"
Yep, our city is not yet ready for cosplayers! :P
~nie-chan
Youkai-chan - September 3, 2003 10:13 PM (GMT)
I don't think that any place is ready for those who cosplay
Pan Pan - September 4, 2003 04:58 AM (GMT)
ah yes, the stares of the unconverted... you must bow down to the cosplayers! *l* that was really funny. dude of course i didn't wear my headgear downtown! Do you remember how freakin' huge the Dark Magician's hat is?! o.o noooot gonna happen. I remember though there were a lot more cosplayers this year. Last year I think I was one of the only anime cosplayers. I think there was a Weiss(sp?) group and an Ukyo, but that's it. ahhh, but it will grow, slowly but surely...

nie-chan - September 4, 2003 05:55 AM (GMT)
I'm such an IDIOT!! lol ok, I'm trying this one more time
Tychou wrote this:
BTW, anyone else headed to A-Kon?
So I corrected her with this:
Tychou meant NDK not A-kon. Anyone heading to Akon?
Does anyone else see what is wrong here? <_<
Ok, So the real question of the day is, anyone going to NDK?? lol Yay!! I got the right con there! lol
~nie-chan
Youkai-chan - September 5, 2003 10:11 PM (GMT)
Unfortunatly I am not :( Wish I could but the convention I am heading to isn't until May :(
Sabrina_Chan - September 6, 2003 06:25 PM (GMT)
I wish I was going but it's not happening. My next con isn't until a whole year. *Sobs* I'll just have to wait...
No-Chan-San - September 7, 2003 07:24 AM (GMT)
Yeah.. we have to go to Cali, or even IDAHO for anime cons.. what's up with Idaho having an anime con, for pete's sake? bah. Supposedly they were going to try and do one here, but for now, we have to content ourselves with torturing the people at CONduit.. our local scifi/fantasy con with our beautiful anime costumes and stuff.. hee hee.. Least we get to help run the anime room there, and some of the panels.. Make those boys from the 'other anime club' watch some shoujo and beautiful men.. mwa ha haaa!!! Anyway, that's why we choose to go to NDK.. it's close, yet not Idaho.. ;)
Anyway, yeah.. don't fear.. least Cali isn't SO far away from Vegas, and there are lots of good cons there. We will all survive somehow!!!
*L* yeah making people double take at us in our wonderful costumed glory in downtown salt lake was great!! can't wait to do it again.....
Youkai-chan - September 7, 2003 02:10 PM (GMT)
I take it you enjoy causeing people to have a spit take when you walk down the street all dressed up then
Kawaii_Neko - September 7, 2003 07:31 PM (GMT)
Well, California is pretty close to Tucson Arizona... Maybe I could go if I get together a decent colplay outfit, lol.
nie-chan - September 7, 2003 08:20 PM (GMT)
and there are so many cons in California throughout the year. You should be able to find one to attend. A-kon was fun, but that is in Dallas, TX. NDK is a lot of fun, and it isn't a bad drive to Denver...hence that is why we are going back for this year.
~nie-chan
No-Chan-San - September 7, 2003 10:52 PM (GMT)
Kawaii> There ya go! Hey.. I know someone that lives in Tucson...
Anyway, AnimeExpo is in Cali, and Fanime, and AniMagic.. tons of good cons..
Dallas is about 15 hours away from you.. as long as you don't have car troubles.. and there are other cons in TX, too! you have lots that are semi-close to you... lucky. ;)
Sabrina_Chan - September 8, 2003 10:15 PM (GMT)
Yes, true, but of course I'm too young to drive. ><;; And my mother would never let me go, that's my troubles. I must the youngest person here...
Kawaii_Neko - September 9, 2003 03:41 PM (GMT)
No, I'm probably the youngest here. >.< I can't drive either.
No-Chan-San - September 9, 2003 10:46 PM (GMT)
Holy!!....
You were born like.. a year before I graduated from HIGH SCHOOL!!!
I'm so ................................... Old.
Eh.. even if you are the youngest on the board, who cares! I think it's great that you have come and joined us and that you are already indoctrinated into the world of anime.. heh..
I'm working on my niece. Currently she will watch InuYasha, Spirited Away, Totoro.. I bet I could get her to watch others, too.. heh heh heh... B)
I can see where your age, however, would make it hard for you to go to conventions.. unless you have an older sibling that would want to go, or you could talk your parent or a friend's parents into going with you.. heh.
One day!! You will go!!! *shakes her fist of justice just for you*
Kawaii_Neko - September 11, 2003 03:49 AM (GMT)
Hey, I'm not that young. There might be younger. Besides, I've been into anime since I was eight! And, I could be between the ages of twelve and fifteen (Lol, that narrows things down a lot). Sorry, I'm going overboard. -_-' I just don't like being called young. Anyway, enough of my ranting. My only sibling is my little brother (Who, might I add, loves anime almost as much as I do) so I couldn't get one to drive me. But, one of my friend's parents might, if I'm lucky.
Sabrina_Chan - September 11, 2003 10:51 PM (GMT)
Well, I'm 12. ^^;; (I'll be 13 in March...)
I've been into to anime since I was five even if I wasn't sure what it was besides, 'the guys with big eyes!'
Well, my brother denies that he knows me and he hates the Japanese. (Evil family.) But he's 24. I could force him with some blackmail sometime, though. *Evil smile*
Of course there are a lot of people I could blackmail... *Evil laugh*
Kawaii_Neko - September 11, 2003 11:56 PM (GMT)
Well, you said your age, so I guess I'll say mine. I'm thirteen and I realized that you're the youngest, not me. ^.^''' Oh well, I'm close. My Mom thinks anime is wierd, and that me and my bro will grow out of it in a few months or something (Fat chance!). She thought it was extremely wierd that I named my brother's rabbit Mokona, lol.
Youkai-chan - September 12, 2003 10:22 PM (GMT)
It really bites not being able to get to a convention thatnk goodness I am now working on getting my liscense . . . almost there  . . . then I can drive myself to my first convention :D
Sabrina_Chan - September 13, 2003 10:10 PM (GMT)
Whoot! I'm glad you're almost there Youkai-chan. Being able to drive must be fun, for my young age my brother tried to teach me in the middle of the desert with his stick-shift. Those are rather annoying....
Youkai-chan - September 13, 2003 10:15 PM (GMT)
No dessert for me I use a parking lot early in the morning when I was still learning . . . hehehe I am still learning it's going to be like another year before I can acctually drive :(
That's why my first Con must be amazing due to the fact that i am doing all of this just to go!
Sabrina_Chan - September 14, 2003 05:49 PM (GMT)
Well, I hope that your first con is really fun. I hope that you and whoever may be going with you will have a great time there.
Youkai-chan - September 14, 2003 10:04 PM (GMT)
Thanks Sabrina-chan!! I think it will be a blast but first I must learn to drive and then I will be as good a driver as Hatori and drive peoples everywhere!
Pan Pan - September 15, 2003 01:24 AM (GMT)
...and then I will be as good a driver as Hatori and drive peoples everywhere!
hee.... Hatori isn't as good of a driver as you may think... ;) he heh... I've been carting "Shigure" around for a while now... (*is cosplaying as Hatori and felt the odd compulsion to post...*) but you'd have to ask "shigure" if hatori is a good driver... I don't think "he'd" agree...
nie-chan - September 15, 2003 02:01 AM (GMT)
LOL!
Hatori is a GREAT driver! Very fast, will comment on the stupid drivers. Hatori and Shigure even shake fists at the stupids. AND Hatori enjoys Shigure's "performances" with the radio. And may I add very nice. "He" carts Shigure to go wig shopping and will even take SHigure to "his" house to sew her...I mean "his" Nataku costume and Kimono. In fact, "SHigure" was over there for more than 24 hours just the other day. ;) Hatori is the best. But, at least this Shigure, unlike "his" counterpart, has a license....just no car! :P
*claps* 3 1/2 days before we leave!!!!!

kitsune_yurei - September 15, 2003 11:11 AM (GMT)
For some strange unknown reason, i feel guilty for living in Cali for 10 years. except the fact that I am nowhere near California, nor the USA. Wonder why I have never known that there were conventions there...if anyone knows where there is one near San Fransisco, I wanna know! Then i can get my friend there to go. okay, i think that came out kinda strange...
nie-chan - September 15, 2003 02:47 PM (GMT)
right now the only ones I can think of are in southern Cali. But I believe San Fransisco area has the ...... Yaoi con :o . But I don't know a whole lot about it cause I'm not into that. When we went to Reno we stayed with No-chan's friend and I think her sister went to it. I think she said it was San Fransicso.... ???
Ok, onto other cons. Is Fanime con in that area? The same girls went to that this year. That one is over Memorial Day weekend. If I have the right con that is.
~nie-chan
Youkai-chan - September 15, 2003 06:11 PM (GMT)
Where is this con???
And you guys say I get introuble for RPGing :P
nie-chan - September 15, 2003 06:44 PM (GMT)
WHAT?? We weren't RPG-ing. SHe asked if there were cons in the San Fran area, I was trying to answer, trying being the key word.
which con? I mentioned two. But I believe those two cons are in the San Fran area, the .....yaoi con, and Fanime con.
~nie-chan
No-Chan-San - September 16, 2003 06:03 AM (GMT)
Fanime is in San Jose.. but San Fran's close enough. Stupid Yaoi con.. *makes a face* But yes, my friend went to Fanime with her sis, and her sis goes to Yaoi con from Reno, so they are there.
I don't think there are any other northern Cali cons, but there is Sakura Con in Seattle, too. Yeah. LONG drive. But a good con, from what I've heard!
*L* Hatori driving Shigure around.. Oy oy.. Drove Mine around today, too!! YAY!! *L* and/or Youzen since Youzen's car.. er.. transportation.. is a bit iffy.. (*LOL* i.e. SLOW PAOPEI!)
O.o that was definitely not RPing.. sheeesh. They were just having fun! RPing is this:
Me: *walks in the room and sits down at the bar*
Bartender: "what'll ya have?"
Me: *looks around the room and spots a few gorgeous Bishies* I think I'll have one of those.. and one of those.. and..
I think you get the point ;) and then when 2 or 3 people get in on it, it just gets crazy and takes up space and is a pain in the bum anyway when it's not in an actual chat room!!! der.
o.O Finished my giant zipper pull today!! YAAAAYYY PAnNON!! MUst.. PAinT....
kitsune_yurei - September 16, 2003 09:29 AM (GMT)
^^ yay! but now I feel extremely guilty for living a city away from a con
("visual" image where I live -->O O O<--where con is.
PS. the O's are supposed to be cities)
...not that I am living there right now, but the next time I go back to the USA is in...*checks calendar* 3 years. poo...my mom is going to freak if I tell her that I am going back to the US because of an anime convention(she dosen't take anime very seriously). plus, in school we only have a weekend to "celebrate" memorial day.
Ry-chan - October 7, 2003 08:00 PM (GMT)
I hate living in the midle of the east coast. All the good conventions are either way up north or way down south. Well..there is one in Richmond, VA, but there the problem of getting there. i. e. - I'm to young to drive. <_< Gah, and I have really good sango outfit too. With Hiraikotsu and a lil Kirara plushie too.
Stupid driving <_<
Ry-chan - October 21, 2003 11:06 PM (GMT)
March, I wish would hurry up and get here. Drivers Ed. I am bound detrmined to pass!! B)
Kago - October 22, 2003 02:24 AM (GMT)
The next Major Con down here is Megacon, but that won't be until March. Luckily the psychos over at Orange Anime like to hold Mini-Cons every once in a while, just to keep things from getting too boring.
Sabrina_Chan - October 27, 2003 12:48 AM (GMT)
I think I have a plan, I'll save up money for a plane ticket and runaway from my mom. Then she won't nag me with nos to stay away from anime. And I'm free to see a con, yay!
