Title: red hair girl
Description: mary or ella? debate

allyar - March 2, 2004 02:08 AM (GMT)
when sam escaped they mentioned a red hair girl rocking back and forth. But I just reread book 13 and when Gaia had to identify ella's body she said everything seemed fake even the guy seemed like he had been cast out of a movie. Foreshadowing or not? Or could the red hair be mary? Or someone completely different?

I automatically thought it was Mary, but with this series who really knows for sure until its covered. I really don't think either character should be reintroduced, at this point it would ruin them. They were both around at a much more golden point in the series. I don't mind Sam coming back (however improbable that it was considering the CIA reported his death) but not Mary and certainly not Ella.

But if they did have to bring back someone, Mary would be the most logical choice, her appearance might bring some perspective to Gaia's life that we haven't seen in a long time.

I think Yuri is behind all of this. Loki wanted Ella, Mary, and Sam dead. He makes that vey clear. Why would he keep them alive? They would only tell his secrets. Also, Gaia went to Mary's funeral. Ella and Sam both didn't have funerals. If it's anyone, i would say Ella. :o

The CIA did report Sam's death. And in #30, it is mentioned in one of Yuri's emails to "Contact someone within the CIA", one of Yuri's agents. Which makes me think Yuri was behind Sam's death and all of that. The CIA (Yuri's agent?) found Sam's body after he supposedly "Died". Loki(presumably) has no agents inside the CIA. If he did, he would have won, gotten Gaia, and killed Tom MUCH easier. Also: The Josh Kendalls were probably Yuri's cloning project. They all were born before Loki killed Yuri and took over the Org. They were probably working for Yuri all along. Maybe Loki really meant for Josh to Kill Sam in #17, but Josh didn't, and handed Sam over to Yuri, while Loki thought Sam was dead all along. I also think teh Joshes are responsible for Loki's coma. Yuri ordered them to give the Counteragent to Heather, which is what Natasha was referring to when she says in #30 that "Loki's coma was all orchestrated to gain access to Gaia" or something like that. So the Joshes were working for Yuri. And in #26, when Sam takes gaia back to the compound place, Yuri's there. He was pretending to be Dmitri, we know that. How could he have gotten past the remaining guards(who, let's face it, know who Yuri was, an enemy of Loki's) wothout them killing him? Teh gurads had to be his men, and probably the whole place, too. Yuri probably let Sam go to gain access to Gaia, but let Sam believe it was Loki all along. Also, in #17, Loki says that "If Sam doesn't cooperate, we have to terminate him" I quote. He had no reason for keeping Sam alive. If Sam escaped, he woul djust tell all of Loki's secrets. Same with Mary and ella. Which makes me think its Yuri. Nobody knew about him, so he had nothing to lose.

What funeral? I remember her lamenting over Mary's death and doing all of these characteristically irrational things afterward (such as taking that "no fear" serum Loki cooked up books later) but I don't remember anything about an actual funeral taking place. Just a thing with her trying to kill Skizz and Ed's wheelchair ending up on the subway tracks in a mangled heap. Man, these kids are weird. :P

yeah there was a funeral and she made a speech which made me cry by the way!

there was a funeral.

Wow Mary Moss, your full of theories.

But personally I don't think that it Mary or Ella. For one thing, Sam would have known if it was Ella. Plus, Gaia identified Ella's body. And bringing Mary back, would turn the whole thing into a bigger soap opera then it already has become, so I don't think that they'd do that.

My thought exactly... maybe a clone a double, or just a typo?

allyar - March 3, 2004 03:40 AM (GMT)
maybe they just put in the book to make us question it and drive us crazy!

I hope so. Bringing them back would ruin their characters.

Yeah, Sam was good because it was a surprise and he adds an element to the story that is remniscent of the earlier books especially since Ed isn't really there anymore.

FearlessAngel - March 4, 2004 05:46 PM (GMT)
Except that...

SPOILER!!

Sam wasn't in Terror at all.

I know what you mean. But he hasn't been in the books at much at all. And I can't believe he's not in terror! He came back, and he hasn't done much so far. Its like their leaving us on a hook, cause we know that he has to be back for a reason, but so far there isn't one, so we just keep waiting, and waiting.

Laine - March 4, 2004 10:18 PM (GMT)
And waiting and waiting.

But both Ella and Mary were, in a way, confirmed dead. Sam never really was, considering how it was George, and he somehow turned all evil on us.

EdLuver - March 5, 2004 02:03 AM (GMT)
if they bring mary back, she shouldn't be re-introduced, she should just be mentioned as a red haired girl in a cafe that someone saw out the corner of their eye. and if Ella comes back, then....something should happen involving sam, like sam runs into ella, but doesn't get a good look at her, doesnt know that it's ella, and walks away, then turns back, and says "nah, it couldn't be" or something. i don't think they should get their major roles back.

FearlessAngel - March 5, 2004 06:10 PM (GMT)
Those are actually really good ideas.

Bradhadair - March 8, 2004 01:54 PM (GMT)
i've always said that i think it's mary. the one reason i say this is because mary was "killed" by oliver, whereas ella was killed by a freelance assassin
