Title: Jake on Missions

Mary Moss - July 24, 2004 08:41 PM (GMT)
Jake helped Gaia in Russia and then helped everyone catch Yuri, and now he's spying on the Rodkes. But him being a spy makes no sense.

First of all: Why would Tom and Oliver let Jake help them? They don't even want Gaia to help them, and if anything were to happen to Jake, it would be their fault. Jake's dad could sue them, and they could get in a lot of trouble, basically.
Second: Just knowing karate doesn't make you a spy. Spies have to know how to lie, convince people, and they have to have experience. I know karate, but that doesn't make me an agent. I'm not insulting Jake, I'm just saying that should never have happened in the books.

LiquidAnimosityx - July 24, 2004 11:01 PM (GMT)
Yeah, it was like they just threw in Jake to change stuff up. I thought it was kind of awkward and weird with Jake there all of a sudden. He seems to be in love with the action that Gaia provides him... Well also Oliver seems to need to rely on him since he's Gaia's boyfriend and he could probably get some info out of him. But yeah, Jake being a spy seems quite sudden. It was kind of awkward how he just happened and Gaia let him in on that. She didn't even tell Ed stuff like this.

Domino - July 25, 2004 07:43 PM (GMT)
I have to agree with you on that. That's one reason why I was suspicous of Jake. Still am a little suspicous of him.

Mary Moss - July 25, 2004 08:49 PM (GMT)
I think it's bad writing. Teenagers who know karate are not spies.

And something else: Gaia always goes on about how Jake will be able to protect himself if he got involved in her life, but hasn't Sam already gone through Loki, bullets, muggers, ect., all for Gaia, and she thinks Sam isn't tough enough! Just because he doesn't know karate doesn't mean he can't stand a chance and be with her. God, who wrote that part? That was just stupid and made no sense, considering what Sam has been through.

Domino - July 25, 2004 11:52 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I know what you mean. It makes me mad sometimes that ppl think Sam is a wuss. Well he's not. He's been through hell and back, and is willing to do so again.

I agree. God, where does Francine get these ghostwriters? I think she's getting a little too old to understand how the real high school/relationship thing works. The FOH's, for one. In my school, people have better things to do than just gang up on one person, the popular people usually pay no attention to the nerds, why can't she get that?...and people are NOT that superficial. Maybe that's just me.....or maybe Francine's seen too many high school movies.

Domino - July 28, 2004 11:58 PM (GMT)
Well those are the sterotypical relationships of high school. Maybe that's why she has it like that.

Mary Moss - July 29, 2004 12:13 AM (GMT)
But it's not realistic at all....

Domino - July 29, 2004 12:25 AM (GMT)
I don't think that these books are meant to be realistic.

Mary Moss - July 29, 2004 12:30 AM (GMT)
It's in a real city, with real-sounding people, it should be somewhat realistic.

Domino - July 29, 2004 12:34 AM (GMT)
That's true. But a fearless gene isn't realistic.

Mary Moss - July 29, 2004 01:43 AM (GMT)
Actually, I did a little research, and there is a fear gene, scientists just don't know a lot about it yet.

I agree about the FOHs. Real teenage "cool" kids think about things besides hair care products. They think about parties, their hobbies, their lives in general...

point is, no real human is as shallow as Megan.

Yeah, I know. The only time I ever got attention was when I was sort-of friends with this popular girl, but everyone I sat with ignored me, so I stopped sitting there. Sometimes some guys have bugged me, but overall, I've been left alone. Seems like FP is into cheesy high school movies.

Okay, back on topic. You have to admit, Jake knows Gaia decently well. But I think Loki was a little stupid with the whole getting him on missions stuff. How do WE know you aren't with the CIA, Mary Moss? hum...

Just kidding. I believe you aren't an agent. I think it's like it is in any book series, The writer needs a twist and something the writer forgets what would happen in reality. And also, if the books are planned out, you just know what HAS to happen and sometimes writers get a little sloppy with HOW it happens. Not defending her, just reasoning.

Francine needs to work on her stereotyping problem....

And, no, I'm not an agent. I just watch my Alias.

EddieBear2004 - August 11, 2004 01:19 AM (GMT)
Really? Never saw it. I read the books based on the series and normally those suck a lot more, but this one was okay, so Alaias is probably really good. :D

Mary Moss - August 11, 2004 02:43 AM (GMT)
Alias is great!

EddieBear2004 - August 12, 2004 01:16 AM (GMT)
not getting too off topic, are we? Yeah, I guessed you would say that (#1 Alias fan). so, anyone want to get us back on topic?

Mary Moss - August 13, 2004 11:56 PM (GMT)
How 'bout you get us back on topic? How long can we talk about Jake anyway? Until the next book, Jake's not gonna get into any more trouble.

Oh well, I can still complain now.

HE IS NOT A SPY!! AHH, I HATE THAT. HE'S JUST SOME HIGH SCHOOL PERSON WHO KNOWS KARATE. SPIES HAVE TO GO THROUGH YEARS OF TRAINING, AND THEY MIGHT NOT EVEN SURVIVE OF THEIR FIRST MISSION. OLIVER AND TOM WERE STUPID FOR LETTING HIM COME ALONG AND POSSIBLY GET HIMSELF KILLED TRYING TO SHOW OFF AND BE A YOUNGER VERSION OF JAMES BOND.
WHAT WAS FRANCINE THINKING? EVEN GAIA HAS HAD A BETTER CHANCE OF DYING, SHE SOMETIMES GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED, AND JAKE GETS AWAY WITHOUT A SCRATCH ON HIS OVERLY-PERFECT FACE. IT'S ANNOYING!!!!

Okay, I'm done yelling. I just think that it was dumb to even have Tom let GAIA, his own daughter, risk her life, but now he lets a kid who he doesn't even know and is repsonsible for, risk his. Oliver is doing this too, but Oliver is shady. (He still rules :ph43r: ) But I thought Tom was supposed to be the good one, the perfect one. Before, Tom went out of his way to protect her, now he lets her and Jake risk their lives fighting Yuri. (Yuri was a non-threat, but still) It doesn't make sense!

Tom needs to come back. See my petition if you already haven't.

EddieBear2004 - August 15, 2004 01:47 AM (GMT)
Hey, Mary, please remember, Jake is a FICTIONAL character. Though everything is unrealistic...okay, I like it better back when the only pobbile guy options were Sam and Ed (thank God Chris is gay. wouldn't it suck if he suddenly became bi and fell in love with gaia? ) Jake is really annoying and you have a point. Look at Sydney from Alias (I read a book based on the series. it was written very horribly, but the plot was good so I just forget how stupid the describtions and stuff are) didn't just say one day "Hey, from now on, I'm gonna go after terrorist and join the CIA now!" or "Cool, I get to spy!" she had lessons to do, she had to study and work to go on missions.

Mary Moss - August 15, 2004 01:50 AM (GMT)
I know! Jake is no spy. In real life, he'd probably be dead. In Alias trained spies barely survive, and Jake isn't trained.(Alias is a TV show, but its supposed to represent a little of what spying's like.)

EddieBear2004 - August 17, 2004 02:07 AM (GMT)
They do it better than Fearless is!

EddieBear2004 - August 20, 2004 01:31 AM (GMT)
Okay, so, who votes that we get back on topic, peps!

Mary Moss - August 20, 2004 02:12 AM (GMT)
Ok back on topic...

EddieBear2004 - August 28, 2004 12:51 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I just finished with 35 and you will die in shame of how stupid Loki is becoming and how brilliant Jake is. <_<

Raquel - August 28, 2004 01:44 AM (GMT)
hey i liked 35

Mary Moss - August 28, 2004 01:48 AM (GMT)
First off: Jake is not brilliant.

If I owned Fearless Jake would never have come into the story. I got a spoiler on how he outsmarts Loki in #35. If that weren't such a pathetic attempt at writing and trying to make Jake look like he's some kind of genius, I would have laughed....but the sad thing is, even the funny things in Fearless aren't jokes anymore.

Oh well..........

EddieBear2004 - August 28, 2004 12:47 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I liked 35 overall, but that spolier I think was from me. It really annoyed me too, that's the only thing I really hated. I'm glad that Gaia is becoming herself again, though. :)

Mary Moss - August 28, 2004 01:38 PM (GMT)
I mean, Jake's not stupid or anything, but Loki's smarter and more experienced.

yeah. if anyhing, sam is the strongest one. all that shit he went through for gaia? she has to give him credit for something.

Mary Moss - August 31, 2004 10:57 PM (GMT)
Sam is the best...but I don't wanna start some shipper argument, mainly because I'm not a shipper...

fearless_fan - September 3, 2004 03:55 PM (GMT)
me neither. (about the shipper thing)

I would send a letter with all four letters words to Francine... That would be so annoying if Chris liked Gaia...

EddieBear2004 - September 4, 2004 10:05 PM (GMT)
lol!!!

Mary Moss - September 4, 2004 10:43 PM (GMT)
I hate the idea of Gaia being with Chris or Skyler....well, can soemone get us back on topic?

OK, I will. In #35 Chris saw Jake watching him in the park. Wonder what's gonna happen to Jake? If he was a good spy, he would have used listening equipment or something(he could have got it from Oliver) But why would he stand RIGHT in front of Chris and expect he'd be fine, even if he didn't know who god was yet? Still seems careless...they could have written that better.

EddieBear2004 - September 5, 2004 01:01 AM (GMT)
That was probably just a stupid Jake moment. I guess Loki was too excited to think and Jake probably didn't think that he'd actually know the guy.

Personally, I think Gaia is more likely to jump into a lake of lava than go out with one of them.

Mary Moss - September 5, 2004 01:57 AM (GMT)
lol

EddieBear2004 - September 6, 2004 02:40 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I was sort of suprised about the Chris being God thing. I didn't think Skyler was God, but I don't know. It seemed like Chris was against what Skyler and Mr. Rodke were doing. But I wasn't completely shocked when Chris was God. I used to sort of like him, too! Oh well. You know what would've suprised me? If Kai or Megan were God!! Of course, God's a guy, but there are such things as diguises.

Mary Moss - September 6, 2004 01:59 PM (GMT)
I wasn't surprised about the God thing... I just think bringing the Rodkes into the story in the first place was desperate and stupid.

EddieBear2004 - September 7, 2004 01:21 AM (GMT)
Yeah, kinda. They need to work on the villian thing. Personally, I think Fearless should've ended at book 24, except Natasha and Titianna should've have been out to get Gaia, Tom didn't chock and get sent to Siberia, Sam is still dead, Ed and Gaia are together, Gaia is happy, would've been the perfect time to end.

Mary Moss - September 7, 2004 01:29 AM (GMT)
I agree.
