Title: Watching and Waiting
Description: arriving in rivendell

Kyra Goldeye of Old - July 23, 2003 09:42 PM (GMT)
Korioan circled high above the elf haven Rivendell. He had been searching for a place to stay and had come upon this wonderful place. He had been watching for a while and had decided that these people were friendly. He dropped a foot in the air and his tail twitched in irritation. His wings were getting tired and he turned in the air, waiting for the perfect moment. He watched for another second, and then began a fast decent.

It was lucky he was going fast because his wings were tiring quickly and he would fall out of the air if he stayed aloft too much longer. His beak was slightly open as he felt the air rushing past.

He pulled his wings in to make his decent even faster and yet, less tiring. He was only 20 feet from the ground and gaining. When his beak was only 10 feet away from the ground he snapped out his wings and slowed almost to a stop. It was a painful move but it made for a nice snapping sound effect as he landed softly.

Koro looked around, sharp eyes watching for signs of life. He opened his beak in the only way he had to smile. His fur and feathers gave off a lighter shine then usual. He was dirty and needed a bath but that could wait. First he had to talk to someone who lived here, someone who could confirm his suspicions about these people. Then he needed to hunt, he was hungry after his long morning.

His long panting breaths gave away how weary he was and wished that he could just drop down and sleep, but his mother had taught him manners and manners said that before sleeping in someone’s home you asked the home's owner. Darn manners

Elindomiel - July 23, 2003 10:34 PM (GMT)
An elven girl walked by him, a girl who looked to be about 18.

She had a strange outfit, outlandish even in the land of elves. It was a combination of Sky and Sea blues. On the back of her light watery blue ankle length duster, a pair of white wings are painted. Two silver buttons were affixed for keeping the duster closed, though Elindomiel was only using one. They were sewn onto the same type of material that was folded all around her duster, and is specifically for knit clothes. You could see a "darker strip" on the material, which is the way trim looks unfolded. Also to keep it on, the duster is pulled tightly closed across her chest.

Underneath she wore a spaghetti strapped black shirt with a V neck, a short denim skirt (stonewashed) with 3 silver buttons to open and close at the front, cylindrical with seam/fold along the top. She had a black ribbon tied into a bow around her upper left arm, and Dark Grey Boots with the top holes left untied. Black ankle straps (for fit and stability) from each side of the back, close at the front with a silver clip and the soles are black.

Her hair is also strange, jet black with streaks of amber. First there's the front half. Here her hair was parted closer to the middle than usual, she had lots of bangs, mostly on left side and their length ends just below her eyebrows. On her left side there were lots of shaping starting from where her bangs end and that side is larger than the right. On the right side, the shaping starts at a lower point.

Then there's the back half. This half was actually parted further from the middle than the face/front half, the part started two inches or so from her forehead and ended near the top of her head and then its hair just goes straight down back. The bottom of the hair had an inward flip. The hair is chopped straight across here, and the length ends just at her shoulderblades.

Kyra Goldeye of Old - July 24, 2003 02:52 AM (GMT)
Koro saw the girl coming and inspected her. It was obvious she was of the elves, though her clothes didn't show it. He still had his beak slightly agape as he watched her approach. Then he was reminded of his weariness as he repositioned a wing.

"Excussse me." He said in a very gryphonic accent that only appeared when he was tired, angry or scared. "Excussse me, Can you help me pleassse” He had turned to face her and was drooping. He hoped she was of some importance and could get him somewhere to sleep for one night. "I need sssomewherrre to sssleep tonight. Do you have any idea who I ssshould talk to?" He put his wings out a little for some balance and waited for her to tell him where to go.

Elindomiel - July 24, 2003 03:07 AM (GMT)
It had been a full moon the night before, and the amber steaks in elindomiels hair were ablaze with a sudden hot, bright gold with to sprinkle the sky dome with stars. Miles away over mountain and feild Carmens ears were like.

Elindomiel heard the voice and turned, finding a large griffin. Large at least for the haven of rivendell, where they saw mostly Valley Griffins, the most of them were generously the size of a hobbit pony.

Poor little griffin... Looked so tired. She nodded to it. "Come with me, you can rest at my house." It wasnt her house, In sooth. As a traveller, it was only a years home, borrowed from a friend at school abroad.

Smiling at him, she led him down a short path towards a rather large building.

Kyra Goldeye of Old - July 24, 2003 03:25 AM (GMT)
Koro sighed in relief. This would all work out. He saw a large house looming up ahead, "Isss thisss yourrr housse?" He said, hope fluttering in his stomach. He gave a yawn, shaking out his feathers. He had some sort of feeling that is was. "Oh, I am sssorrry, I forrrgot to intrrroduce myssself. I am Korrrioan orrr you can call me Korrro." He said, Gryphonic accent showing even more in certain words, especially his name. He laid down his ears, as he opened his mouth a little.

He watched the Elvin girl walking ahead of him. She reminded him of a cat with her graceful movements. This girl was everything that a true elf should be. She was kind, graceful, and beautiful. He let his eyes roam and soon spotted some water. It looked big enough for two gryphons to bath in, which was saying something.

He would test it tomorrow, for now all he wanted was rest. They were almost at the house. He decided that he was not going to do anything until after he slept.

Elindomiel - July 24, 2003 12:18 PM (GMT)
"Yes, this is my house. I am Elindomiel, you may call me Ellie." Said Elindomiel, looking back, though not down, at the large griffin. As she turned her shiny black hair moved to the side, revealing a small but pointed elven ear.

She watched, as she passed, the fountain that Korain had seen. The path they walked on was of shiny clack rock, damp with the spray. At one point there was even greyflood, half an inch thick, though enough to make a small sound when you walked through it, particuraly if you were in habit of dragging a foot.

Finally the house was right before them, Elindomiel bid her guest enter the great hall.

Kyra Goldeye of Old - July 24, 2003 10:49 PM (GMT)
Koro entered the house slowly, looking around the great hall. He hoped this was as far as he had to go. It had been very tiring for the last few days. He had flown almost non-stop both days and had spent both nights sleeping in uncomfortable makeshift nests.

He staggered to a corner, not caring if this was the right place. He dropped to his side and with the last of his energy he gasped, "Thankee Elindomiel."

**************************************************************

Koro was out cold for the next 12 hours. He hardly moved at all except for the occasional thrashing. When he woke up he looked around, confusion showing clearly in his eyes.

He did not remember where he was or why. Then, suddenly, it came back in a rapid style. He remembered the day before and his meeting with the strange Elvin girl. He blinked his eyes several time and stood up, shaking off quickly to adjust his feathers. He looked around then walked forward, talons clicking on the floor.

Koro stepped into the sunlight and looked around. There were a few elves around but none of them noticed him. His keen eyes searched for the girl called Elindomiel.

Elindomiel - July 26, 2003 12:16 PM (GMT)
((OOC( Kyrie I had the sudden feeling that you were Gwen. Weird. Good points about the deer.)))

Elindomiel looked down as she heard a rather large thing walk from her house. As she had guessed, it was the Griffin, Koraion or something. The one that had spent the night there.
Yawning, she closed her book, one particuraly boring even for the books she read, about old norse runes. She didnt know why she was reading it, why she would have to know the Dwarrows runes. They were of little concern to her, and elf of Rivendell, in there deep caverns, far of in there last stronghold the Iron Hills, or at best of the glittering caves or of the Lonely mountain in the east.
She stood and stretched, and then in one fluent movement she leapt down right next to the griffin.

Kyra Goldeye of Old - July 26, 2003 11:16 PM (GMT)
It took a moment for Koro to realize that Ellie was standing next to him. He turned his head slowly and examined it for a moment before dropping his head into a small bow, "Thankee Ellindomiel. You are a kind person. I was ready to drop out of the sky I was almost dead." Said Koro, slowly with perfect speech. "I would like to inquire about the forests and the fountain." He said quickly, sounding relieved to be done with thanks. Although he looked like a full grown and adult gryphon, he was truly only a young adolescent. "Can I hunt hereabouts and can I bath in the water or is that the drinking water?" He said, trying not to rush his words.

He looked pretty happy for a second before his nares flushed in embarrassment, "Oh... err... I would like you to have this." He plucked a large crest feather that was ready to fall out anyway and handed it to her. "Gryphon feathers can be used to give temporary magesight to the holder, although it only works when the feather is touching the skin. For some reason they tend to be very valuable. Thankee again Elindomiel."

sparklemonkey - July 27, 2003 01:17 AM (GMT)
((OOC:sorry to interrupt, nowhere else to post! Oh and sorry if i'm not so great yet! Alteast I;m trying! No making fun ellie :P ))

A strange creature listened from a few feet away,"My preciouss, where is my precious?" It was a rather sad looking creature. He wore rags and was hunched over with his backbone clearly visible. As he neared the gryphon he couldn't help but notice the shiny feather it was holding. There was something about this particular feather that seemed extra special. Anyone near him would've heard him saying to himself, "oooohhh yessss. How pretty. ssso shiny. oooh, my preciouss." Moments later he ran and lept into the air in attempt to grab the feather from the elven girl. He landed right in front of the gryphon, suddenly remembering how large it was.

Elindomiel - July 28, 2003 06:02 PM (GMT)
Elindomiel was about to respond to the griffin when out jumped the hideous slimy creature men call gollum and who was of old Trahald, a hobbit of the stoor strain by the anduin river.
His pale eyes, shining like lamps, were fixed on her. More out of impulse than anything, as if he was simply an extremely annoying bug, with quick as lightning elven reflexes she kicked him, hard.

Huiva - July 28, 2003 08:03 PM (GMT)
Huiva, dark as the night and invisable amoung the shadows, watched the creature gollum from right behind him. Sharp as his ears may be, few could find a vampire if they wished to remain hidden.
She had been watching the despicable creature, rating his potential as a victim. But as she looked she realised he would not have very much blood, and what he had would probably be as slimy and sour as his smell. She leapt into the tree, and slimbing to the top, lighted from a branch.

Kyra Goldeye of Old - July 28, 2003 09:49 PM (GMT)
Koro stood there in shock. He had not figured this elvin girl could fight. He had not expected her to hurt the small creature yet she had, she had kciked him where it hurts.

His eyes had grown wide, or, wider then usual, as he watched Elindomiel. She was good. He still held his feather and did not let go. He saw some movement out of the corner of his eye and turned his whole head just in time to glimsp a dark form jump into the tree.

Startled again he walked slowly to the tree and peered up. He didn't see anything but that didn't mean nothing was there. He sighed and strained his eyes harder.

Elindomiel - July 28, 2003 09:54 PM (GMT)
Elindomiel watched as the Griffins attentien was captured by some being invisable to her. Not waiting for the slimy creature to respond, Elindomiel Kicked it again before drawing her dagger. It was a fine dagger made of polished red wood. She held it to the creatures throat waiting for it to explain itself. It was hard to make Elindomiel angry, but she sensed foul contempt in this creature and it had aroused her. There was a fire in here eyes.

sparklemonkey - July 28, 2003 10:01 PM (GMT)
"don't hurt us..." It hissed in a panick as she held her dagger up.
"It's sooo sshiny..." His eyes widened as he glanced back torwards the feather.
"It reminds us...of our preccious.. where is it.. where's my precious...?"
It was an awful creature, but you couldn't help but feel bad for it.
It squirmed around in attempt to free itself from her grip but his attempts proved useless. He wouldn't be released untill she wanted to and not a moment sooner.

Huiva - July 28, 2003 10:04 PM (GMT)
Huiva shook with slight fear and quick rage as the large gryphonic creature had sighted her. Mid Transformed, The vampiress went back ten times as fast and jumped back down the tree in one quick leap. In her rage her super speed was aroused and everything moved in slow motion.

It frightened her that the Griffin could see her but she supposed that even with its dispelling abilities she was only a shadow to him, for she was protected with a force more ancient and potent than any modern magic.

With a screech her cloak fell back and her face was for a moment revealed in dark magesty, sharp fangs glinting in the filtered sunlight that somehow touched them alone, for the darkness surrounding the rest of her form was too deep to be penetrated.

Springing off the tree and towards the griffin who had found her out, her pale and thin, yet unworldy strong hands came forth from there folds and grabbed unto his head, right behind his excuse for ears. She had long red fingernails, red as blood, which they now drwes, digging into the back of his neck, their razor sharpness cutting feathers, fur, and flesh.

Huiva - July 28, 2003 10:10 PM (GMT)
Blood trickled down the griffins neck. Fresh blood, bright blood, GOOD blood. Griffin blood was good.... and she didnt get it often. She began to lean in, began to lick the blood. She tasted it. It was good.

Elindomiel - July 28, 2003 10:13 PM (GMT)
Elindomiel loosened her grip. Not enough to let the creature get away, just enough to hurt it less. She did pity it, the small grovelling creature. "Like shiny things?" She asked with venom in her voice, although distelled.

Kyra Goldeye of Old - July 28, 2003 11:05 PM (GMT)
Koro jumped in surprise as a awsome vampire dropped onto him. Her nails cut in to his skin and he flinched. He reared onto his hind legs, his wings flying out as he reached back to grab the vampiress. He could not see her well and for a fleeting moment thought he thought he was going blind. He quickly brushed aside the thought quickly and turned to the bigger problem.

He shook his neck, trying to shake her off and took to the air, wings pumping hard and dust stirring up below him. He reached back grabbing at the creature on his neck and missing. He brushed at her, trying to get her off and not sure if he hit the girl-creature or not. He landed a few feet from where he began and felt for his wound, which stung horribly. He thought she might have hit a vien.

Huiva - July 28, 2003 11:37 PM (GMT)
The equivelent of an error message flashed through Huivas head. What was this? HAd griffins developed some new skill? By her reckoning, which was, backed up by experiance, normally quite good, she would have had about 20 seconds (her time) before her victem had noticed what was going on.

But now he was fighting, quite ferociously. She didnt like it. She wanted to leave. But the Blood was SO GOOD. She needed it too. She was sick of Rabbits and Rats. Blood of Sentients was SO much better. And the orc blood was black, and it was cold. So it was no good.

She had been playing nice, using her nails and tongue. Now she dug in her fangs.

Kyra Goldeye of Old - July 28, 2003 11:45 PM (GMT)
Koro screached in pain, swiping again, realizing that the vampire was still there. He gave a roar that sounded more like a lion this time. He flaped his wings again, not sure how to get this creature off, "Get off you... you... bat thingy." He cried, trying to think of a good insult and failing miserably.

He wanted to be like a lion and roll but his wings hindered him, instead he bashed his neck against the tree and rubbed up and down. He winced as the tree touched his would but this would help... hopefully.

Huiva - July 28, 2003 11:50 PM (GMT)
Huiva heard the 'insult' and took it rather well, almost as a compliment. The vampires respect the bats and fasion many of there ways after them. The first Vampire was half bat herself, though even for a vampire wondering how this had come about was to horrible to think off. Sure, the ran around wrapped in shadow. Sure, they sucked youre blood. But they didnt have that sick of minds.
Thats when the fowl little 'cat thingy' started banging her against the tree. Who did he think he was? However, she had gotten enough blood to tide her over. The fight was not for her. With one last screech, she jumped into the air and changed as fast as she could.

Kyra Goldeye of Old - July 28, 2003 11:57 PM (GMT)
Koro sighed as she stopped biting into him and looked up. He had looked up fast enough to she her turn into a raven. He sighed and closed his beak in pain. His eyes were half closed and he made his way back to elindomiel, not sure if she had finished with the small 'creature'.

He looked down and saw his feather laying on the ground in frount of him. He grabbed it and stopped near ellie, waiting for her, sure she didn't need his help.

Huiva - July 29, 2003 12:01 AM (GMT)
Huiva looked back, relieved the creature wasnt following her. She flew towards the moon and was become lost in its shadows.

Elindomiel - July 29, 2003 12:14 AM (GMT)
The pitifull creature continued its annoying and sad little whimpering noises. Elindomiel had half a mind to cut its throat. But it had not truly done her any wrong, and she couldnt bring herself to spill the creatures blood without reason. She realesed it, and, scowling, gave it one hard kick. "Get gone you, I never want to see youre snivelling face again."

In disgust, she turned to see Koro. She walked towards him. Suddenly she noticed he was hurt. "Korioan! What happened?" she asked. She knew it was not easy to just hurt a griffin like that, and he seemed to be bleeding quite freely from his neck.

She walked towards him, but stopped a few feet away. She wasnt sure if she was close enough to the griffin yet, that she might offend it by going to near it without being asked. But her eyes were shining with pity.

Kyra Goldeye - July 29, 2003 01:28 AM (GMT)
Koro lowered his head, "Stupid vampiress thingy went after Gandalf... Didn't you see her?!" He said head snapping up in confusion. 'have I gone mad?' he thought to his self slowly. He was mentaly bashing his head, now thinking he had gone crazy instead of blind. 'That is why she was only a ghost, she wasn't there, not really.'

"It only hurts a little." He said, trying to act tough and giving her a gryph smile. He stepped towards her and nudged her, nodding his head in the way of the fountain, "lets walk."

Elindomiel - July 29, 2003 01:34 AM (GMT)
Elindomiel looked at the Griffins moment of confusion and shook her head. "youre not going mad, " she said. "i did not see the Vampiress, but I have heard that they are protected with dark and ancient magic, so it is little wonder that you alone of us was able to see it. And no, we will not walk. I will see first to it that you are properly taken care of. "

Kyra Goldeye - July 29, 2003 01:54 AM (GMT)
Korioan looked at her. "ok, I guess." He said, laying down in exasperation. He opened his mouth to say something then thought betterof it. He knew people usually took ge questions as an offence so he decided not to ask it, "Are you a healer?" he questioned her, realizing he didn't know much about her.

His eyes were half closed as he waited for a responce. He wanted to walk but it was not smart to anger elves, or disobey your elders and Ellie was definatly his elder

Elindomiel - July 29, 2003 03:37 AM (GMT)
Elindomiel thought a moment at the question and its possible inflictions " If you mean what I do, no, I am not a healer, I am a wanderer and a scholar. But what I am, that is a different story. For all elves have basic knowlege of herblore and simple healing, and many also inherit fome magical healing ability. I am one of them."

It reminded her suddenly of something her grandmother, an Ainur, had once told her. " What I am, Spirit. What I do, Maia."

She did not know why this particular quote came into her mind, and yet it did, reminding her that she was, despite what she had said, more than a wanderer of the mortal realms and a scholar of their tongues. She was Elindomiel of Valinor, one of Divine Heritage.

And she laughed to herself, laughed at the long and rather wistful romantic title she had given herself. Her bare foot hit cold, wet stone, and she realised that she had entered the hall and stepped of the sandy path.

She had done it again, she realised, she had gone off in her own little thoughts, been lost in her deep brooding even as the world turned around her. Such is the way of the Elves.

Kyra Goldeye - July 29, 2003 03:45 AM (GMT)
Koro walked with her, his own thoughts running through his head. He had millions of questions to ask, but he didn't know where to begin. "Where did you learn to fight?" He questioned again, still trying to learn about her and not think of the pain and his neck and feathers around it. Some of the shafts had been broken which made it very uncomfttorable.

His blue-green eyes examined the ground and listened to the sound of his talons clicking accross the stone. They walked into the great hall and Koro watched her to see what she wanted him to do.

Elindomiel - July 29, 2003 03:48 AM (GMT)
Elindomiel went up a rather large set of stairs. The ceilings were set high, made for elves, so that even the great griffin could fit comfertably.
" What do you mean, nin mellon? Where has it come to pass that you have seen me fight? Since I have met you I have drawn neither sword nor bow."

Kyra Goldeye - July 29, 2003 03:53 AM (GMT)
"But you fought without those. That was not like a child, kicking a ball. That was the kick of someone who has trained in someway, no matter how little." He responded quickly, hopping he didn't sound like a fool.

He perked his ears up and his nares flushe with embaressment. He didn't like looking stupid, esspecialy in front of what he considered a friend.

Elindomiel - July 29, 2003 03:56 AM (GMT)
Elindomiel looked at him with a laughing glint in her eyes. " You have had few dealings with the elves than, master Korioan. Even the elves of Aqualand could fight hand to hand or foot to foot, and right pampered they were."

Kyra Goldeye - July 29, 2003 04:01 AM (GMT)
Koro looked down, "I have only met you of the elves. I have just left the nest a few years ago after all." He shut his beak tight. He had not meant to let that information slip.

"How old aro you elindomiel?" He said, determined to change the subject.

Elindomiel - July 29, 2003 04:06 AM (GMT)
" Eight thousand Nine hundred human years five anaryae past. And I am 61 in the years of the elves."

Kyra Goldeye - July 29, 2003 04:11 AM (GMT)
Koro just looked at her in stunned silence. He figured she was young by the way of elves but he would be just an infant to her. this wasn't the time to think about it but he didn't care. He needed something to think about. He was 23 in human years she was 8 thousand and something. OK... she was definatly considered and elder.

Elindomiel - July 29, 2003 04:16 AM (GMT)
Elindomiel began to sing to herself.

"Kaze ga yoseta kotoba ni,
Oyoida, Kokoro,"

The language was not of the grey elves of Beleriand, or the green elves of mirkwood, or the Galadhrim of Lothlorien, nor yet the eldar in the undying lands. It was not Elvish at all, nor yet dwarvish or the crude mannish of the north and south. It was too hasty to be entish and to soothing to be the black speech. Even Elindomiel, great Linguist of Rivendell, knew the language not. It was a song from her early childhood, from her infancy, or maybe before.

Kyra Goldeye - July 29, 2003 04:21 AM (GMT)
Koro was knocked out of thought by the song. He was entranced and didn't even think of it as another language. He had not heard many and figured it to be of some other part of middle earth. He listened as they walked slowly.

Elindomiel - July 29, 2003 04:23 AM (GMT)
Elindomiel continued her song, unaware of Koros fascination.

"Kaze ga yoseta kotoba ni
Oyoida kokoro
Kumo ga hakobu ashita ni

Tsuki ga yureru kagami ni

Hoshi ga nagare koboreta

Kyra Goldeye - July 29, 2003 04:25 AM (GMT)
"Where did you learn that song? What language is it in? Do you know what it means?" He asked, suddenly aware of how much he liked the song.
