Hello

I am a new member on this forum. My name is Jean-Pierre and my age is 55
I am french and Dutton enthusiast (Yes , it is possible !)

I bought a B (or B+ , I do not know exactly yet) on October 2007.
I am DOC member Nr 4395. This car as a Alfa 1750 twincam.

This car can drive, but as there are many things on this car that doesn't please to me,
I think it will take one or two years to have exactly the car that I want !
So I think I shall be for a long time on this forum....

Cheers.

Welcome J-P,

Cant fault your choice of car :D

I am building a couple B Types with Alfa engines - I love the 1750 alfa engine I had one in a 75.

Have a look at the posts on B types and B+ on the sections before and it will be clear which is which.

Any questions just ask and it will be great to see some pictures of your car.

Cheers

Andrew

Hello Jean Pierre,

My name is John, I am Scottish but have a business in south West France (Tarn et Garonne) and spend a lot of time there.

I have just bought my first kit car. It is a Phaeton S4. I have been very lucky because the car was renovated by andy on this Forum. I have not got the car yet. I collect it on Saturday. I have in mind a few modifications I want to make.

Perhaps we can learn together.

John

Andrew, if you can say with no doubt if it is a B or a B+ , it will be fine.
On a photo , it is still in GB plates : FHW69W
Andrew, I guess you know many Dutton owners, perhaps you could know were this car come from !

John, I hope you will very pleased my your new car. I think so because if this car was renovated by Andy, I'm sure it's a good car !

Cheers

Thanks for sharing your pictures. I think it will be a fine car. A very impressive lump sqeezed in there. I would be interested to know how you get on with immatriculation in France as I intend to use my dutton there quite a bit and it would be easier for me if I could register it in france and keep it there. I thought there may be problems as obviously there is no european type approval for the dutton.

Regards
John

Hi J-P,

Hope you don't mind but I edited the post to show the pictures. a very nice car by the way.

The car is a Pheaton Series 1 - identifiable mainly by the full length boot lid - the bonnet is a modified S1 bonnet with the wings cut off - quite neatly done as well.

S1 chassis is only slightly different from the B+ and dynamically the cars are the same.the boot is longer on the S1 so the chassis is extended a little - about 80mm

Someone has certainly been busy with the polish on the engine B) and it looks really good in there - a shot of the back axle would be good as well to tell if its a ford or Alfa axle.

I have never seen that car before - the only other Alfa engined car I know was an S1 owned by Rosie Lee's - But I thought that they were still working on it.

Cheers

Andrew

Hello John
The immatriculation in France is possible (I ve got it) but quite difficult.
The solution is the CGC = carte grise de collection (collection grey card)
you can find all informations on the FFVE (Federation Francaise des Vehicules d'Epoque) website :Here

An important thing is that the car must be at least 25 years old (30 years in 2009 : the law will change)

Cheers

Hello Andy
Thank you for the information. I thought it was a B type with the wings cut off...

I polished myself the engine. I shall also install braided inox hoses, aluminium polished header and oil catch tank. I think a beautiful engine bay is also important (especially with the alfa engine !)

The rear axle is cortina, not alfa

Chears.

Thanks Jean Pierre,

Unfortunately the s4 I just bought won't qualify. It will have to stay a british car. But I think when I have replenished the cache under the mattress (the one in the spare bedroom that my wife doesn;t know about), I will buy another older one that I can register in France.

Thanks again
John
