I intend to spray paint my Melos myself (currently it is dysentery beige !)using spray cans and have done a test piece on the bonnet with a can from Halfords. Has anyone else done this and how many cans should I purchase (its currently on 3 for 2 offer)? There is a starburst crack on the bonnet, what is the best way of concealing this?

The best way I know of to hide a star fracture is to make the cracks slightly larger and then use car filler (P38) to fill just like a metal panel.
As for painting it with cans... AAArgh.
At &7 a can (even on 3 for 2) it would cost loads. All you would have is empty cans all over the place. For about £100 you can buy a compressor with a pint pot gun from B&Q. Of course you do still have to buy paint and thinners but you could sell the compressor and gun on Ebay afterwards and get nearly all your money back on it, only used once etc...
Get a much better finish and learn how to paint stuff in the process.
Course if you lived near Bolton I could help out a bit.. where are you?

If you do all the prep work yourself you maybe able to get it sprayed for less than 200 quid, a place near me offers self prep resprays from £150 and seeing that the melos is quite a small car it should be reasonable
