Seem to be having probs getting my xflow to turn over fast enough to fire. Have checked all lead connections, had starter reworked but it just baulks on the compression, only way to start her from cold is remove 2 plugs and let her run on 2 while fitting other 2 plugs, she idles lovely on all 4 and sounds sweet, I have checked timing statically and with strobe to no avail but can turn over engine on normal 3/8 drive rachet quite comfy altho you can def feel compression stroke, should i bite the bullet and get a hi-torque starter?, has anyone experience with a 1760 with this prob before i spend a lot of money

If you have done all the usual checks like the earth straps to the engine and big enough cables from the battery to the solenoid and then to the starter then a Hi torque maybe the only option.

I have never seen a standard starter struggle usually - I would make sure that the starter has all the brushes working.

Cheers

Andrew

What about the coil? the condensator and/or resistence?
Check the coil is the correct one for electronic or balasted ignition and the voltage of the coil usually is a little bit lower than 12v and has a resistence to compense it... Be sure all parts come from the same "kit"
If the spark is good for 2 plugs for starting...
As Andy says check the earth and the coil, it doesnt looks too bad.

Why is it easy to find electronic ignition in Spain Lanseros? Is it cheaper from over there? :P

Because here in Spain is very easy to find a ford fiesta mk2 with the electronic ignition which is plug and play... Build in Valencia, the Valencia block is very similar to kent...
