Title: Spare wheel carriers

Andy (doc3781) - August 16, 2003 03:15 PM (GMT)

I am looking into designing a rear wheel carrier so that I can carry a spre wheel in the usuall "7" position of on the rear - I have not seen any Pheatons with a rear carrier - anyone seen one/done it before.

Cheers

Andrew

Hi Andy

I can safley say that i have not seen the type of wheel support that you refer 2 , but there is a Phaeton in the Bristol area with a spare under the boot floor (not a lot of space under there to start with.

*first posting now done .. :P

The spare wheel support on a "7" type kit is on the back of the car - Caterfields have a tube affair and a bolt to hold it on.

Now guess whats on e-bay - and S3 with a spare wheel on the back - an e-mail to the owner is in order I think :D

Seeing that picture and having a look at the chassis rail position and bodywork on my cars Its an easy job and the design was drawn up on the napkin last night. B)

Now the spares sorted next stop Le Mans :ph43r: - you coming Sean?

And it also seems that a few Duttons owners have had their summer and are offloading because e-bay is getting overun with Duttons at some very interesting prices - Well if these Locost types are paying £200 for a pair of Cortina uprights - why not £1000 for a Dutton Donor.
