Take the link to Dave Andrews web site and there you will find lots of good stuff about Pinto Cams.

I used to work for a company that made pinto camshafts for Ford. The camshafts were identical apart from the shape and timing of the cam lobes and various cast in identification marks, so they are physically interchangeable. There were only two main types in the end, the 1600 and the 2000, I cannot remember offhand which was fitted to the 1800, and anyway the 2000 engine from a transit had the 1600 camshaft fitted. The 1600 had less lift than the 2000 so the valves should not hit the pistons, but you might lose a bit of top end power. If both camshafts are Ford originals look for 'AA'(1600) or 'BA'(2000) on the end of the part numbers or check the number of small raised cast pips is the same on both shafts. By the way the blocked oil pipe theory is a bit suspect, the main factor in overcomming the wear problem was a change to the heat treatment of the cam lobes on later engines.

Early pintos had this problem. Change the oil jets for later (wider) ones when you replace the camshaft.

Spray bar blockage used to be a ****** on the cortina pinto engines, used to change mine regularly and the engine lasted longer than the rest of the car (171,000 miles)
