Title: Best show for Duttoneers

Andy (doc3781) - March 21, 2003 08:42 PM (GMT)

Hi Folks

Whats the best show ofthe year for dutton owners to attend?

I am working hard on the car at the moment - albeit distracted by central heating replacement - not planned - and some garden landscaping.

Now have S4 in the warm and dry - so work progreesing nicely.

Cheers

STONELEIGH

(Not that I'm a little bit late into the thread......)

Stoneleigh certainly. It's the one show I will always try to get to and the only one I like to spend more than one day at!!
My second choice is Detling. Only a one-day show for me but it's getting bigger and better every time, glad to see they have club stands this year and the DOC have one booked. I don't have a Dut on the road but maybe I'll put a piece of my Melos into the Hurricane's boot to show willing!!
I always enjoyed the show at the Chatham Dockyards (Detling's predecessor) if only for the location- the halls were small and overcrowded and it was a nightmare if it was wet.

So, what makes for a good show for you? Many different cars? Good and plentiful trade stands? Meeting other owners? Talking to 'Joe Public' about your car? the stunt shows etc??

Darn and double darn :(

My car probably won't be ready for Detling and I forgot that May follows April when I booked a two-week holiday with the wife. Hoping to get the Dutton to Capesthorne Hall and Newark and I'll be putting lots of effort into making sure that I get to Llandow to put my brand spanking new Vulcan XFlow through its paces...

Cheers

Hmmm.

Detling is a bit far for me so the first show will be my local one at Stafford. As for what makes a goos show in my eyes - one with plenty of variety and trade stands and having Joe public tell you how fantastic your car is would not be a bad thing. :D

As for engines Phil - Your old x-flow has a rebuilt big big Valve head :o on it now, the pistons modified for clearance - a big ol' pair of Weber 40's :D slapped on the side - some nice new blue paint and a shiney alloy rocker cover. The flywheel has been drilled and helicoiled and its all together and sitting in an engine bay waiting for a few details to be done.

Will post some pictures on My Webpage

Cheers

I've been meaning to go to Capesthorne Hall for the last 10 years, maybe I'll actually get there one year- it always clashes with something else!!
Newark is another great show, probably second only to Stoneleigh, but tends to clash with Le Mans.
