I’m the proud owner of my first Dutton. I was told it’s a series 3 but I’m not entirely sure. Can anyone help?
The serial number SABTVRO3267338794 is stamped onto an aluminium plate, which in turn is riveted to the top left hand chassis rail adjacent to the engine (as you look from the front). It doesn’t look to be 100% genuine to say the least.
Are there any distinguishing features on a Series 3 that would confirm one way or another?
Hi and welcome,
Have a look on the DOC site
Here and under the Identify your car section on the left will tell you everything you need to know :)
The chassis number is a DVLA number not a Dutton number so will not indicate any model - not that the Dutton chassis numbers identify anything else but a car type anyway.
Post a photo of the car and we will soon tell you what it is

Hiya fella's ~ thanks for your help. If you click onto
http://moltersport.myphotoalbum.com/view_a...=album01&page=1 , there's some photo's of the old girl.
Started the tidying up today .... so much to do.
It's an S2 -modified for 5 link rear end rather than the usual leaf springs.
Interesting project - any special plans for it ?
Andrew
Thanks for your help Andrew ~ much appreciated.
The job list is endless but the main objective is to turn a scruffy 20ish year old circuit car into a mechanically tidy road car for under £1k within 12 months. If it comes up half tidy, then I’ll treat her to some bodywork repairs and a re-spray.
More or less an Audi R8 adrenaline rush for a twentieth of the cost.
Regards
Gary
