Title: Post Length

Veran - March 4, 2004 09:50 PM (GMT)
I'm a new member and noticed that all the posts in RPs here seem to be several screens long. Is this expected?

It's not truly expected at first. I, as creator, don't forsee people adapting that quickly. Though a decent grasp of the mechanics of English is kind-of expected, and it's hoped that as you RP here more often, your posts will grow longer and more detailed to the caliber that you can find in many of our current posters (who have had experience elsewhere). ^_^

And this is why I rarelly Post :P *nods* As King of Typos, and raining man with the worse grammer and spelling her I would like to say....you get used to it.

I see....well, I have experience and obviously am good at English, but for me roleplaying is usually a more interactive thing. I figure if I want to write a fanfic or short story, I'll write a fanfic or short story! ^_^

Well, if you like interactivity, you can always write your posts that way.

Not sure if this helps, but I generally don't try to go out of my way to make my posts very long. I try to write up through a decent length, but stop when it would make sense for another member to take over. This is problematic when you're trying to have a conversation with another character because you can end up with a bunch of short posts, but do not speak for any characters aside from yourself (or dictate their actions during your post for that matter). It is bad form, might not correspond to what the other members wanted their characters to do, and it just might piss them off in general. Pretty much just follow what seems like logical etiquette and you're posts should be just fine for length. If you really don't want to have to worry about post length then just set up a solo adventure after you've gained a few levels. You can have the post length at whatever's comfortable and get used to what suits you.

Man, I've rambled again. This seems to be turning into a habit...oh well, hope you found that useful. Good luck, and have fun!

Right! :D Is it normal here for people to have RPs all by themselves?

Crestierem - March 6, 2004 12:04 AM (GMT)
Depends on your point of view. ^_^ But from I can tell, it seems that it is.
