It looked as if the Knights were going to perish. Their line had been pulled thin and the Demons weren't relenting in their attacks on the remnants of their forces along the Northern Flank. The ten Demons continued their onslaught, mercilessly slaughtering anyone and everyone they could find. From the plains behind the defenses came a wonderful sound. A silver spike stood shining on the horizon, Tharkas Castle. This always reminded the Knights what they were fighting for. However, it wasn't the Castle that they were all looking to this day. There was a small cloud coming up from the base of the horizon. What it was couldn't be discerned, but any help was better than none at all. When the cloud became more distinct, the hearts of all the Knights lightened. An intimidating shadow rose up over the sun and sky. This wasn't a shadow of evil, however. A curtain of arrows flew from the cloud up into the air, aimed at the Demons who flew overhead. When the clouds of dirt and dust died, a 4,000 Elf army mostly on horseback came to stand along the Northern lines. The rest of them who ran up on foot were quick to follow. With the sight of this new threat, the Demons pulled back their attack and retreated over the River.
The next few days were very peaceful and not nearly as stressful for the Knights of the White Cloud. A great burden had been lifted from their shoulders, it seemd Hypeltheon had awoke to the true threats of this foe. When the 1,000 extra Elvish reserves finally showed up, there were also Rangers in Helineth Port, making their way to the front lines, and Lancers from Rionolianthu had landed along the Southern shores of Avalon, and were reinforcing the Southern part of the defenses.
Soon Easulan Checkpoint was emptied of all White Cloud military personel and replaced with 2,000 Elves. Those from the Checkpoint were used to rebolster the White Cloud's numbers along the Northern defenses. When the Rionians showed up, some of the White Cloud Knights were filtered out of that region as well to further strengthen the Attack force. The remainder of the Elves were put along the Northern lines of the River and filled in with with Rangers. Pretty soon the river was fully defended once again, and there was a modest attack force of 10,000, a mixture of White Cloud Knights and Fornilingoth Rangers. A mistake made by the military leaders was they left the Rangers of Shadow along the Easulan defenses, instead of moving them up into the battles ahead. So Derhlith remained on the defenses with the Elves.
The plan was to move up the White Cloud Army and the Rangers to fight and clear a path between the Twin Daughters and the Iron Crag. Then the Crag would be emptied of it's White Cloud, another 10,000 men, and the Elves and rest of the Rangers would move up and lay seige to the Rift.
So the attack force went forward into enemy territory to begin the fight that would lead to the end of this evil...
