Some say it's because of all the blood spilt in Hypeltheon, others say it was bound to happen, and the rest say nothing at all. But whatever the reason, it happened. Never, does it seem, can peace ring true for very long in this troubled realm. However, this threat is more than can be said for just one nation, or two nations. It was a threat to the entire realm. All of Hypeltheon stood on the edge of this knife, and only as a whole could they get off.
Not a year after the war between Tharkas and Unluthio had ended, a strange evil began to ooze out of the mountains to the North of Unluthio. At first it wasn't anything too noticable. A goblin here or there was found scouring the plains north of Unluthio. Slowly it began to escalate. Some thought they would see winged demons flying high over Unluthio, and the plains between Unluthio and Tharkas. At this time, Unluthio was building its own fortresses to hold back Tharkas. Where Tharkas had built the Iron Crag, on the other side of the river, Unluthio built the Twin Daughters, two smaller stone fortresses who's combined might would be enough to sandwich an army and destroy them.
It wasn't long until Orcs began to be sighted on the outskirts of some villages in Unluthio. It was at that point when people began to become nervous. Sometime later, the Orcs vanished from sight, and people forgot about what had begun to frighten them all so deeply. One moonlit night, however, on the Northern edges of Unluthio, they attacked. High in the sky, letting free an earpiercing cry came the winged beasts - Demons. Several of them swooped across the horizon from the North, and dealt a blow to one of Unluthio's little adobe burgs on the fringes of the desert. The city was decimated, and all inhabitants ravaged. This was the beginning of a new battle.
In the years of peace between the two nations, they had built a checkpoint city, the Easulan Checkpoint, over the Easulan River, it was a trading community, with soldiers and merchants galore, and two fortified gates, the Doors of Light, and the Doors of Shadow, leading to their respected countries. This would be an important structure in the coming swell.
Soon after, Orcs, and Goblins, along with the Demons, surged forward and attacked Unluthio full-force. Tharkas was readying it's forces to fight this new evil...
