Slowly the Elves of Lienthala pushed across the Western plains of the fledgling nation, Tharkas. Initially they were slaughtered, but after a regrouping, they came back across the Innar Channels in three different locations, and pushed forward, scissoring the Army of Tharkas, armies on the left and right clamping in on them. It was like that for several months.
Battle of Mineth Burg, the second important battle of this war. The Elves invaded from the West, coming down from the hills on all sides, there wasn't even a Human army there, yet. The militia held the Elves back for a staggering ten minutes until the city fell. Nothing was burned, but the city was overrun and the residence, still bearing some resemblance to Elves, were slaughtered. One or two actually survived this fight, and brought word to Tharkas City, the Capital of their mortal kingdom. It was still being constructed, only the innermost wall, and half of the castle, existed. In retaliation, the Army of Tharkas sent a group of horseback cavalry down upon the Elves who'd bunkered down in Mineth Burg. The core of the battle lasted about twenty five minutes, from the Cavalry cresting the valley's hills, to the Elves retreating from the village. They had a superior strategy, but the Humans had superior armor and stronger weapons that cleaved straight through the light plates and leather strappings the Elves wore.
After a regrouping and reinforcement, the Elves made a daring march straight for Tharkas City. They'd caught sight of some supplies running from the South West towards several high peaks in the middle of the plains. Their army made a hook North, and found a city that has long since been destroyed, Farlet, a small agricultural community. The town was harboring a small division of Tharkas troops. Caught in the middle of the night completely by surprise, the village militia, residence, and soliders, were all slaughtered. From there the Elves swung back to the North, heading towards Tharkas City, which they could barely see against the setting sun, who's eyelids were slowly slipping from view behind the mountains of the far North.
The final chance the Elves had: Battle at Tharkas City. They pushed up from the South and formed well organized lines against the half-built castle. This battle would last several hours, and the Elves would never gain an inch. The whole battle was a slaughter, because the Elves lacked heavy weapons to destroy stone fortifications. They pushed up and nearly made it to the gate until they were thwarted by molten iron poured down upon them from wood panels in the outer side of the wall. Those who escape that were shot down by arrows. This would be the beginning of the end for Archerborne divisions in the Tharkas Army.
Everything went downhill from there for the Elves. They were slowly pushed back across the plains, losing troops quicker than they could flee. Finally, the Elves hit their last line of defense, the remaining Elvish Army, 6,000 Elves. Stagnant fights went on here-and-there, scattered across the Elvish line. This stalemate lasted for over two weeks before the newly appointed King of Tharkas declared the war over and made peace with the Elders' Commitee. Along the Elvish defense line a gargantuan wall was built. It spanned from coastline to coastline, cutting off a portion of the land from the humans. This area was to be known from then on as Region-Au-Ruteer, just past the "Western Wall". It was the territory the Elves had won in the devastating war with their distant mortal kin.
However, this was not a fully victory for Tharkas. Their colony in the East saw what the Elves had managed to do, and thought they may do the same, and win their independance. Another war was brewing.
