Millenia ago, the Elves came out of the West, upon the mighty wings of Gryphons, majestic creatures long since lost to the world of Hypeltheon. Hypeltheon, that is the name they gave this land. They traveled from West To East, North To South. Then, as ages past, their lineage split and intertwined and weaved into little webs. Their arts and culture was mostly lost, except for in the land of Lienthala.
Slowly the different groups of Elves who left what is now known as the Outer Rim began to squabble amongst one another.
Elves who had moved North retained much of their heritage. They continued their combat and religious traditions, but changed their social ones. Slowly a kingdom formed, sprouting forth several small forest-set villages, protected by Knights of Shadow, known today as Rangers. When that kingdom became more powerful, they gathered all the Rangers to their castle and made them an official Army. Though they acted in an Elvish fashion, slowly their apperances changed. Their ears rounded out over hundreds of years, and they became a little bulkier. However, not all the changes were bad, their senses became more acute, because of their constant dependance on their surroundings. Over a period of time, they broke their ties with the homeland, Lienthala, and became their own land, Furniliingoth. The land they dwelled in was named Hybernia.
Those who moved East became strong, and lost much of their famed speed. They forged arms and great walled fortifications, tamed the wild, and spread further East to the confines of that continent. They, too, like their kin in the North lost their pointed ears, but they also lost their speed. It was traded for further strength. Because they had harnessed the speed of horses and other animals, they no longer needed their own speed. Over several hundred years, these Elves became known as Humans. They quickly formed their own Monarchy, the first in existance in Hypeltheon, and organized villages, burrows, and a powerful army made of horseback cavalry and footsoliders. Lienthala began to despise these most of all, because they totally shed their heritage and became their own. After a time, the Humans of this realm named it Avalon, and treked further East, across a gaping river to form their own colony.
In the South, things changed just as much as they had in the East. Though, instead of becoming bulky Knights, they became Lancers. Men of great power, speed; known to make twenty foot leaps into the air from which they cleave their weapons down into their foes with enough force to kill. The men of this continent became heavy traders. They were the first to build ships, and send them around Hypeltheon via certain waterways, and chart the seas, or at least the seas that they could. But, they, too broke their lineage from Lienthala, and became their own people, in the realm of Rionoliathnu.
Due to the proximity of Avalon to Lienthala, and their heavy contrast, they were the first of the three child-nations to fight their homeland. Lienthala claimed that since Tharkas, that was the name of the kingdom which was formed after the Humans split from their Elvish roots, was a colony of Lienthala, and thus the land truely belonged to the Elves. Tharkas disagreed with that, and the first battle came on the Birthing Shores, on the western edge of Tharkas, where the first Elves landed on that continent. The lightly armored Elves were slaughtered by the Army of Tharkas. But they sent more of their warriors over to Tharkas, claiming their right to live there, too. And the first war began...
