Hair Color: Golden Blonde

Physical Description: Derhlith has a thin build, like his distant elvish cousins, which allows him to be quick and nimble, but is bulkier than elves, thanks to his human roots. This added muscle actually aids him in some respects. He is physically stronger than elves are, and is still faster than humans. He wears dark brown boots that go up just beneath the knee. Tucked into the boots are thin canvas pants of black. Attached to his waist are two dark brown belts with silver buckles. The first one holds up his pants, and the second, sagging at the left side, is where an empty scabbard lays for when he gets a sword. His silk tunic is black, and tied together at the neck with leather strands. Over his right shoulder is a black leather pad that belts together across his torso and under his arm. Across the man's back is a quiver with a belt strap that goes left shoulder to right side stomach. Beneath the quiver is his cloak. It is a black cloak with a hood that he can pull up over his head, and is attached by a ruby brooch at his chest. His hands are covered by light gloves. Derhlith cut the fingertips and thumb tip off of the gloves so that he could fire his bow effectively. The blonde hair that flows down just past his shoulders is tied back in a ponytail and can be tucked into his hood. The sleeves of his tunic are long and baggy near the elbow and wrist.
Personality: Quiet most of the time, though very insisitent and loud when need be. He is used to taking on leadership roles, and is thus very proud, his Elvish heritage leads him to be strict in religion and combat. All the men that were under his command were very near perfect fighters. He can't stand being with Knights because of their arrogance. Most humans he doesn't like, but there are those who he copes with. Derhlith is happiest among the green forests, and holds great respect for nature.

Background On Your Character: Derhlith Half-Elven was born before the first Demon War, over 1,200 years before the second Demon War. At that time, the Elves were still fighting the mortals for control of the mainland, and there were thousands more elves then compared to now. Finally, the war stopped when the Demons broke free from their seal. All races of Hypeltheon pushed together to stop it, including Derhlith. He moved from Lientha, knowing of his human blood which came from an Avalonian knight who had been captured during the wars, to Hybernia, North of Avalon. There he excelled in archery, swordsmanship, stealth, and speed. Quickly he climbed through the country's military ranks and became Captain of an elite division of Rangers. During the first Demon War, that division was sent to Tharkas Kingdom in Avalon to aid them in holding the Demon Hoards at bay. They were successful.

While in Avalon, Derhlith ran into hundreds of Elves from Lientha, who fought alongside him sometimes, and filled in gaps in his division when they were short of men. With the aid of all the nations of Hypeltheon, they pushed the Demons back across the Easulan River, and got near their origin, a void in space that had suddenly opened and began spewing out evil beings. Some prophecize that this happened because of the mass slaughter of Elves, Clerics, Dwarves, and Humans in their struggle for control of the continent. The Mages of the Cethindol Tower forged a Gateway around the void and sealed the demons away in another realm that was said to last an eternity.

-------------

Tharkas branched out across the river and into the deserts of Unluthio, and forged a colony there that they named after the desert on which it stood. Nearly a millenia later, Unluthio began to fight against Tharkas opression and wanted independance. They fought, and won, making a boundary at the Easulan River. Soon after, there were wars between the two nations as Tharkas tried to recapture its lost colony. The immense spilling of blood was once again said to be the reason for the Gate's opening. Though, the Mages of Cethindol did nothing this time. Unluthio kingdom, ravaged by war, fell quickly to the Demon Hoards who surged across their lands. Tharkas sent little aid to the fledgling nation.

Finally, war broke out in Tharkas once again as the Orcs and Goblins forced their way across the Easulan. The White Cloud Army, vanguard of Tharkas, wasn't enough to hold them back. So Tharkas requested aid from all corners of Hypeltheon. They slowly recieved it. Derhlith and his elite division, Rangers of the Shadow, were sent across the Carpean Ocean to fight once again. Derhlith fought several battles, losing each one by sheer numbers. Finally, they were all pushed back to Region-Au-Ruteer, behind the Western Wall. Tharkas Kingdom had fallen, and there were few places of resistance left. Tharkas Castle being one of them.

Derhlith returned to Hybernia, and even from across the sea, when he stands on the southern coasts of the continent, he can see the massive black shadow that hangs over Avalon, that none were strong enough to deterr.
