Time for some inspiring quotes and stuff. Of course, chances are 90% of these will be stolen from somewhere.
Today's Quote of the Day:
You don't understand how hard it is to fulfill your ideal. Even if your ideal is great, it's just a dream if you can't fulfill it! So how can you fulfill it? You need power! That's the politics of the world! I can see it clearly now! You can't fulfill your dreams without power! You say I'm a dog of the church! Go ahead!! I don't care! You can despise me, but I'll be laughing at the end. You'll all submit to me! ~ Wiegraf
Today's quote is from Final Fantasy Tactics. Wiegraf is my favorite character for the deepness of his personality, which is quite different from most villians. I mean Sephiroth just is a maniacal killer. Same with Kuja, sorta. And Kefka. And Seymour.
Do I sense a trend that set FFT apart from most other FF games? The thing that really set Final Fantasy Tactics apart (besides the combat system) is the deepness of the story. While most of the other games had a black and white good and evil, Final Fantasy Tactics is all about perspective. Wiegraf was a peasant who eventually commanded the Death Corps. Before that, he had been the commander of the Death Knights, a volunteer army during the 50 Year War.
After the war, the nobles in Ivalice had returned to treating the peasants like an underclass. Many of the peasants had been soldiers during the war and now had no money, no job, and little loyalty to the crown. This led a group, led by the volunteer army's former commander, led a revolt against the nobles. While this revolt ended in failure, it eventually got Wiegraf a position within the church. And thus comes the quote.
Time for today's quote of the day! Again, its from Final Fantasy Tactics. This will probably end soon and I'll be forced to find new quotes... <_< Oh well.
Ignorance itself is a crime! What you think is right is only what you can see. But, that's not everything. It's not your fault. But I'll keep blaming you until there's a change! As long as you're a Beoulve, you're my enemy! ~ Miluda Folles
Another quote from some of my fave people in Final Fantasy Tactics! Miluda Folles is the sister of Wiegraf Folles, the leader of the Death Corps. As a commander of the Death Corps, Miluda was in charge of several troops within a fort within Ivalice. She was defeated there by a group of cadets from a military academy led by Ramza Beoluve. This led to her retreat towards Fort Zeakden, which was the location most of the remaining Death Corps were heading towards as the Hokuten Knights of Ivalice struck back.
Miluda Folles was, as Wiegraf was, a member of the lower class. The lower class was treated by animals by many of the nobles, more like slaves than actual human beings. This led to the revolution as explained previously. The actual quote takes place during a battle on Miluda's retreat towards Fort Zeakden, which leads to her death at the hand of Ramza's party. Poor Miluda.
I suddenly understand. Don't bother following your dreams and ideals unless you're powerful and wealthy!
Blind prejudice! Another fine lesson!
