Title: Calendar

Rayo - April 11, 2005 01:54 PM (GMT)
We're going to be trying out the Calendar features for a bit. If it proves to be useful, we'll continue to use it. If it is simply pointless...it won't live as long.

The_lone_dragon - April 12, 2005 03:31 AM (GMT)
I very much enjoyed the 31 day ahead look. the 4 day ahead look is well.. not much happening.

Lyra - April 12, 2005 03:36 AM (GMT)
Personally, I thought the 31 days ahead was too cluttered, hence why I reduced it to 7 days. Four days... sort of pointless. I'm going to go change it to two weeks, alright?

The_End_Cypher - April 12, 2005 03:48 AM (GMT)
I think a week is better because events due in 2 weeks might not be much of a concern compared to the week due ones, especially if there are a large number of events.

But, then again, I always think the world should live in nudity...

The_lone_dragon - April 12, 2005 03:56 AM (GMT)
*knows he a mod but i can't hold back*..... *slap!* shush there are ladies in the room......

sorry im a gentlemen and i just couldn't hold my self back :P

EDIT:sorry just teasing

You idiot, we're born naked. How about the idian tribes, and the people in africa? Nudity isn't bad, we make nudity bad.

Don't go off topic like that, and don't slap me again.

Ashura - April 12, 2005 11:09 AM (GMT)
Thanks for adding it. It has become really useful.

The_End_Cypher - April 12, 2005 07:45 PM (GMT)
It does. Alot of people are forgetfull *including me!* and this helps a ton!

Apollogy accepteted.

Lyra - April 14, 2005 03:50 AM (GMT)
On a somewhat relevant note, I thought I'd remind everyone of something I've seen 5 people forget so far...

For many of us, its Daylight Savings Time now. Please change your board settings accordingly, if you are. Otherwise... well, there could be a lot of unnecissary panic @.@

Pacific (and Arizona) should read this post as 8:50, Mountain as 9:50, Central (and Indiana) as 10:50, and Eastern (and Puerto Rico) as 11:50. Those of you not in the US/Canada mainland/closeby, I'm sorry, you're on your own, I don't know your time zones.

The_End_Cypher - April 14, 2005 05:31 PM (GMT)
LoL, you said Puerto Rico...

I think a lot of people forgot to adjust the time. I for one thought it was automatic until Kiwi alerted me it wasn't.

Jpec07 - April 14, 2005 09:32 PM (GMT)
Great idea, guys. This calendar thing really helps (especially knowing that I have to choose out a song to sing by TOMORROW for the World Idol  ) Thanks for another great bit of thoughtfulness to make our world a better place.

And Cypher, I do know what you mean, but it should be mentioned that in the societies that most of this board's members are from public nudity is generally not acceptable (I would say America, but that'd be rather presumptuous of me).

And a third note: I thought Daylight Savings Time was an America-only institution...

A point, although what one society holds as unacceptable doesn't make it wrong.

(I don't want this to be off topic, so...PM or w/e)

Also, I think it isn't, since Puerto Rico is a territory of the U.S. yet it remains oblivious of daylight savings.

Lyra - April 15, 2005 03:15 AM (GMT)
Hell, Arizona and Indiana are states, and they remain oblivious.

(Warning: Potentially educational brief history lesson ahead)
It was started in the US to help trains be on schedual, but was agreed on around the world. Not everyone uses it, especially not in tropical areas, but some parts of Europe and Asia do, and I think Australia may as well.

The_End_Cypher - April 15, 2005 04:43 AM (GMT)
I thought it had to do with farmers.

Oh well.

Kumori - April 16, 2005 12:35 AM (GMT)
Time Zone Fact:

They were created in the 1800s to help trains all cooperate on the same time. I mean... before the time zones, there were like... 27 towns in Illinois that all had different times. So... yeah, Ly's right

Lyra - April 16, 2005 03:02 AM (GMT)
XD actually, Cyph was more right. Time Zones were for the trains, daylight savings was for the farmers. I just have the things mixed up is all. @.@ Oh well... This is so :offtopic: by now that its actually kinda funny.

The_End_Cypher - April 16, 2005 10:23 PM (GMT)
Regardless, make sure you all make that change, so that you don't freak put when you see you're too late for 'Protect the city!' like I did, even though you weren't!!!

Blue fox - April 24, 2005 08:41 PM (GMT)
I think the calendar was a great idea. But I don't have a use for it. But it is nice to know that while I was busy doing pointless things, I find out that I HAVE MISSED EVERY EVENT!

On a separate topic: Yes, most of Indiana does not use the daylight savings system. I would know. I live there (or is it here?). BUT, there is a bill currently going through the Indiana legslature to determine wether or not Indiana will join the rest of the U.S.A. in the Daylight Savings system. Very confusing about how they are worried about changing time when we have better things to worry about. Oh, don't forget the new stadium for the Colts. And the new Senator's Rv's new paint job. Politics...

Ashura - April 26, 2005 04:00 PM (GMT)
Can we have a memorial 'service' for Rey? Just a little one...please?

This is probably the wrong place to be putting that... However, I see no reason why not. I sort of thought the GD thread already was one... You may want to use a chat room instead of a page on the site though... PM Phoenix and see if you can reserve a time in IRC, maybe?

Rayo - May 19, 2005 03:29 PM (GMT)
Since the Calendar seems to be working just fine...it'll be staying.
