Title: CC Corp Increases Countermeasures
Tokki - June 17, 2003 07:51 PM (GMT)
Due to the increase in Hacking incidents in "The World", CC Corp is taking immediate countermeasures, it seems, in order to correct this and protect the game and it's players from any further damages. It employment department has reported a significant increase in employees in the past couple of weeks, and the amount seems to be increasing towards the sections that have the most to do with the incidents and hacking. A representative of CC Corp has released to the public that new programs are being tested around the clock to discover which is strongest for use against the hackers-- all of whom seem to be working independently-- though reports have been made of places in the logs where incidents occured and 3-4 people logged out of the same place immediately. When further updates are released, we will present it to the public.

Finally CC Corp has decided to work on the problems, but even they can't stop all the problems in the World. At least, it will be a safer place though.

Yeah, but will it be enough? I mean there's probably like 1 hacker to every 500 normal players... If not more... Hopefully I'm just exaggerating though...

But what if, for some reason, there are an unusually high number of hackers? What if the hacker numbers increase with the number of the counter measures?

I'm more worried about what hackers DO to the WORLD, not how many there are...............hopefully a powerful creature doesnt turn up in a root town again. that could be disasterous! :(

Umm.. a powerfull creature.. or.. once was a powerful creatuere, has turned up in root towns many times in the current times.. just, nobody saw it as such cause it ignored everybody.

*cough* I wonder who that could be? eh?

Some action against hackers is good, but the problem itself might not be eliminated. What do we do?

How 'bout a more positive alternative. There are other games that have pro-hacker servers. Simply give the hackers their own 2 or 3 servers to play on restrict the flow of hacked material from the hacked servers to the normal servers. This may offer a safe place for them to vent steam and go crazy in an orderly manner. To filter between the two layers, place a filtering AI that is helped by the admins during its stages of learning. As it progresses, it should be more independent in its decisions until it requires no help. That would lower the need for a large work force in the System Management Department. Unfortunately, it could also lead to job cuts as humans are substituted by AI-plugged NPCs.
