Field - Rejecting Oblivious Scaffold

Rules - No items

Insomnia sucks. Now fight.

Arcion - July 12, 2004 04:07 PM (GMT)
(OOC: *before he starts the duel, whacks Gojira for using leet in the subject*)

HA landed in the field set for him and Kamina to duel in by the system and was assulted by the flury of snowflakes. This will make for an interesting duel. He took the bow from his back and ran his fingers over the center of the arch. His bow still sat in the center, and right next to it was the impression of Kamina's Adian Wand.

He lifted the bow and drew an arrow from his quiver and SP, and fired it into the storm, to test how the wind would affect his normal attack. Spells weren't affected by the wind, but both of their armors gave raised stats to earth which most of their armors spells were. Heironeous would just have to watch out for whatever spells rested on the wolf wavemaster's wand. And at least until he was able to activate his anklet, Kamina would only need to dodge his arrows.

The tiger shot another arrow into the blizzard and watched the wind carry it, then moved towards the stand of trees. Covered in fur was even more appealing as he realized his feet would be frozen numb by the time he got to the trees and of no use for climbing, the hairs absorbing the cold before it got to his skin was a great advantage against the elements, but he guessed that it wouldn't make a difference against the wavemaster.

He walked among the trees for a minute before choosing one and leaping into the lower branches. He leaned against the trunk and typed out a flashmail to Kamina, letting him know the duel had begun.

~~~~~~~
To: Kamina
From: Heironeous
I'll miss the winter
A world of fragile things
Look for me in the white forest
Hiding in a hollow tree
~~~~~~~

He knew the wolf would understand they lyric, as most of the ever dwindling clan could identify with at least one of the songs. Heironeous then pushed away from the trunk and balanced on the thick branch, nocking another arrow to his bow and aiming for the area where he had logged in from.

Kamina - July 12, 2004 08:19 PM (GMT)
Despite his long absence from the world, Kamina felt a sense of welcoming, as his amber eyes opened and took in the dull orange light that engulfed the water capital, Mac Anu in a soft evening glow. The Wavemaster looked around at the players, all either talking or moving about from one shop to the next. None of which had any immediate impact on the Wavemaster, but nonetheless, he had to be sure whether or not H.A. had made it to the duel site first. The alarm depicting that he had mail told him otherwise.

“I know you hear me…” Kamina muttered towards the chaos gate, “I can taste it in your tears…Rejecting Oblivious Scaffold!”

It’s been a while since I’ve dueled, Kamina thought as he fell through his personally colored binary code, the code that would lead him towards the world in which he would be fighting in. Elements didn’t matter as much as it should. Normally, The Wavemaster had a plan up his sleeve. The “No Items” rule brought up by his clan mate, made it pretty interesting. Without a Speed Charm, it wouldn’t be hard for the new Archer to land a hit if he wasn’t careful.

The wind and snow whipped and bit across the wolf’s face, forcing him to draw his hood over his head. He scanned the terrain for any sign of his tiger opponent, but sees that this field could easily hide him.

“White Snow, Dark Trees…”Kamina muttered, glancing at the stretch of trees, not to far from his position. “Let’s see how far I can get without getting shot at.” Within an instant, the wolf hunched over and launched himself with his legs, racing across the snowy terrain, reminiscent from an anime he had recently gotten into.
‘…to go on…’ the song played in his head. ‘Something is pulling me; I feel the gravity of it all…’ Of course he was moving a lot faster than shown in the ending credits, but all the same, it had a strange sense of humor in his mind.

The chime of the rings broke HA out of his light sleep and he raised his bow once again and took careful aim before realizing that his inactivity had caused his SP generated arrow to fade back to his count, not that the single SP hadn't regenerated by then anyways. He pulled another arrow from his quiver and aimed once again, only to find that the wolf had moved and started moving toward the forest he was hiding in. He got my flashmail. The tiger grinned. He adjusted his aim moving with the wolf's stride and adjusted for what he thought would be decent leading distance and fired.

The wavemaster passed under the amunition made of SP while it was still heading for him and imbeded itself into the snow pushed into the wolves foot print, or should it be called a paw print? Heironeous dismissed the thought for later contemplation as Kamina reached the edge of the small forest. The tree he was stationed in wasn't far from the edge and so he dug his claws and fingers into the dying bark of the tree and leaned out so it's hold was the only thing keeping him from creating a snow tiger imprint.

[/B]The total rush of it all, the ice between his fingers, the snow fling in his nose as he inhaled only to come out in a faint white cloud as he exhaled, feel of the wind numbing his cheeks, all of it was exhilarating. Kamina heard an annoying sound, like that of a fly’s wings, or something beating fast enough to make a noise. He couldn’t see it, nor did he know what it was, but he could take a guess. H.A. was close it seemed. So the question was where was he? He continued his way towards the trees, scanning for a short branch. There weren’t any to be found at the forest’s edge.

This could get tricky. He thought, as he neared the woods. H.A. was a Figment Raider, and a patter that seemed to be popular to the stronger original members was to wait in a tree and pounce on the opponent. Realizing this, Kamina made a quick stop at the edge of the forest, sliding in front of an old, dying tree.

“Snipers can’t shoot unless the wind is at the right position…” Kamina said, not caring if he was heard. “Or unless something’s in the way. Choosing a random target, the Wavemaster drew his Adian wand. The others could wait for now. Raising the dark wand up in his left hand he tested the wind with his right. The testing served no purpose than to guess where an arrow would come from while he was casting a spell. The air around him grew thick and dark. The aura growing around him was also permeated with darkness. Kamina’s amber eyes started to glow brighter, livelier amber, as they did when he cast darkness spells. Anger, sorrow, and hatred filled his soul, as the dark energy built up in him. Through gritted teeth he tried to keep from screaming as the new spell took its course. At last it was ready. Pointing in the direction of the wind, he let loose a howl which carried the words “Ani Rom!” The darkness that had built up in him, escaped like a bullet, shooting for the bit of the wand. The Wavemaster used his other arm to keep the wand steady as a dark tornado was emitted in the direction the wind was blowing. With this cover up, Kamina climbed up a nearby tree and started hopping from branch to branch.

(Since the two of us have posted diffent events I wanted to ask a duel mod what should happen. Since I haven't seen any of them recently, I'm going to switch to Kamina's version of events.)

He heard Kamina say something, but it sounded like a mumble to him because of the distance. The wavemaster pulled out and held up one of his wands in preparation to cast a spell. Not knowing if the canine had spotted him, or if he was just trying to scare him out into the open, the white tiger pulled himself back to the branch and stuffed his feet into the angle between the trunk and branch.

He launched himself into the air towards another tree, and the had a sinking feeling he wouldn't cross the distance. Glancing at where the wavemaster had stood, he now saw the spell he had been casting. A tornado of darkness raged and moved towards the branch he had intended to land on. Suddenly thankful of his weaken push off, he landed and rolled past the tree, then darted past the next couple of trees to be sure of the tornado passing him.

The storm burned a path through the snow, sucking all the snow at it's base into it and seemingly destroying it, as the path it had taken showed the frozen earth beneath what snow had fallen before the combatants had entered the field. The tree was uprooted and dropped where it had stood.

With concentrating on watching that storm of darkness, Heironeous had completely lost any clue of where the wolf-boy had moved to. He smiled again at his choise of field and dropped to all four paws, then lay down as a cat would. His recent tumble made snow stick to his fur, crouching against the white of snow would hide him from detection from most angles. He could roll away if the wolf managed to spot him first, but likely he would give his position away by firing an arrow once he spotted the wavemaster.

At least.. he could, if his bow wasn't lying by the tree that had been attacked by the Ani Rom.

Kamina - July 15, 2004 07:36 PM (GMT)
The sound of splitting wood resonated in the wolf’s ears. He had no idea that it was going to cause a tree to be destroyed. His eyes darted back to where his spell had finally come to an end. He leapt from branch to branch, making his way towards the mess. He wasn’t sure, but he thought he saw something unnatural in the branches of the tree. Monsters don’t appear on duel sites, so it couldn’t have been that. His only hope was that it was H.A. himself. If he was lucky he would be under it. That wasn’t the case, but fortunately, he did find the Archer’s bow.

“That was very reckless of you” Kamina called out, tauntingly. “Not to mention, you have left a trail of snow…” Kamina followed the snow trail. The trail differed from that of the Ani Rom. For one, the snow had not been cleared completely to the ground below. Instead, it held indentions of that of a body in movement. H.A probably dived out of the way of the spell in an effort not to get hit. Kamina thanked his sixth sense for sending the spell in that direction. Slowly, The Wavemaster took a few steps along the path.

“Soko da!” Kamina cried, swinging his Adian Wand down towards a larger pile in the snow. Again his eyes shone with an intensity of an even more powerful spell. The air all around him started to dim into nothingness. Darkness seemed to have clawed its way from the ground and clinged onto Kamina’s body, covering him until only his glowing amber eyes remained visible.

“MeAni Kruz!!” The spell that almost made him equal to his summon, Wryneck caused the darkness to explode off his body, becoming flaming skull projectiles. Within seconds of the spell being called, the skulls converged towards the snow pile, which he assumed was H.A.

Leaving his bow behind was extremely reckless, as the wolfen wavemaster pointed out. But it didn't leave him defenceless, the tiger still had his armor equipped, giving him several earth related spells and one healing.

He waited while Kamina followed the faint trail left in his passing, wondering if the canine would bring his weapon to him. It wouldn't be a smart move, since it would give the archer back the weapon and more advantage once he got it back. Bringing it to him only decreased the time it would take him to recover it.

"Soko da!" the wavemaster said to him, and the archer paused, trying to translate the announcement. The pause before casting his spell allowed HA to pull the answer from his head. He knew he wouldn't be able to dodge the spell, regardless of what it was, at this range, so he charged a spell of his own and waited for the activation of the attack.

"MeAni Kruz!" the wolf spoke, and the tiger pounced forward onto his opponents chest. Since it was a 'Kruz' it wouldn't knock him off target, though the 'Me' indicated it was a second level spell, something he hadn't encountered before besides sword moves.

While in the air, Heironeous answered the japanese statement, "Soko de wa arimasen", then released his spell as well, trying to lower the magic caster's earth defence. Both lowering the strength of attacks other than those from the wand and strengthening the spells from his own hiking gear and fossil bracers.

Once his feet found purchase, and not truly caring if it were flesh, fur or fresh snow, he bound through the powder for the fallen tree and his weapon.

The time it would take H.A. to get his bow would be all the time Kamina would need to bring this duel to a quick close. The Wavemaster’s spell seemed to have connected, but due to his opponent’s strength, he couldn’t be sure just how much damage it did to him, either way it was more than was done to him, so at the point he had the advantage. Going down to on e knee, he kept one eye on the tiger while placing his Adian Wand back into his weapon pack, from that pack he withdrew his favorite and rarest wand, the Diabolic Wand. With Wryneck’s abilities, he could either bring the duel to a quick close or close to one. Within a second, he stole a glance at the smooth, black metal wand, as it slowly lost all heat in his hands.

“Daijoubu…”he whispered to his wand. “We’ll be warm soon.” He rose from the ground to face his opponent, who now had his bow in hand. The Wavemaster, not wanting to see what happened next, darted for the closest tree. He needed a moment to regroup. It would be reckless to summon Wryneck now and take out a decent chance for another spell. Just a little more and he’d have enough to cast at least two more spells after the summoned creature. It would have been nice if the wand itself was a wand that he could do more fighting than casting, but no matter, this would be his step to greatness.

“Omae ga owari ka?” Kamina called from his tree shield. “Kore wa boku no turn ka?” he taunted in Japanese. With a smug grin, he decided to risk stepping away from his cover.
“Shall I give you an opening shot?”

He wasn’t sure that was such a great Idea now that he looked back on it…

(OOC: lazyness sucks more)

The tiger snatched up his bow and turned in time to see the wavemaster dart behind a tree for protection. Only problem with that was that wood burns, and he had a fire spell from his reaquired bow. He couldn't guess at what the wolf said to him from behind the tree, all he knew was that they were questions, probably directed at him.

He jumped over the tree and ducked behind it from the direction the wavemaster hid. Drawing an arrow back, he aimed for where he thought his clanmate's head would be on the other side of the tree. Since this was the first time he had used this spell, and he was the first Archer in the World since CC Corp had released the class, neither Kamina nor he knew what would happen. The only thing he knew was that the tree would burn down. "Arrow of the Red Dragon." He called to his friend. He loosed the arrow, then, as an afterthought, used his bracers' spell on the other side of the tree creating a whirlwind, possibly holding the wavemaster to the burning tree. Regardless, the spells would hurt the wavemaster, and probably distract him for quite a while, giving the Archer time to regroup himself.

SP: Arrow of the Red Dragon (10) Gan Rom (10) = 78

Kamina - July 25, 2004 11:31 PM (GMT)
The burning red arrow flew towards him, its feather vibrating back and forth, making a zzzzzzziiiinnnnn sound. If it wasn’t the spell itself, it was the sound that compelled the Wavemaster to move out the way. He crouched low to the ground, preparing to leap to the side, only to be knocked back towards the hard, cold wood by a mass of twisting earth fury. His earth defense was down so it hurt him more than he had expected it to. Within an instant, he felt fire shoot through his shoulder, literally. A choked yelp escaped from his lips, as he glanced at the arrow that had pinned him to the tree. To his horror he found the flames running up and down through the separation of the bark, eating away at both the muscles and tendons in his shoulder, but also at the inner wood inside his temporary prison. It almost resembled a witch burning, except, this magician had no intention of sticking around. With a dark growl, he bit into his lower lip, forcing himself to ignore the pain in his shoulder, long enough to grab the shaft of the arrow. The head was firmly planted into the wood and would be nearly impossible to pull free with one hand, remembering a Xena episode he saw a long time ago He broke the shaft, which seemed to cause an explosion of splinters and wood in his wound. The Gan Rom spell was done thankfully, allowing the injured wolf to escape his fiery trap.

Kamina’s amber eyes gave off a soft amber glow as he glared in the direction that H.A.’s scent came from. He could barley make it out over the smell of burning wood. Thanks to the fire, all blood had dried that was coming from the wood, he took time to look at the steaming hole in his shoulder. The bottom half of his white sleeve was temporarily dyed amber. The smell of blood, even his own, awakened the thirst that lay dormant within him. He felt alive, realizing that he could and had been injured; a slight smile grew across the wolf’s face.

“Oh H.A….” Kamina called as he walked towards the Tiger’s hiding place. “What does a wolf do when it’s injured in a fight…? Kamina’s eyes started to glow with the same intensity as their leader’s emerald eyes.

“If you guessed ‘run away’ you’re wrong.” Both of their earth defenses were dropped, so Kamina was going to use that fact against him. It was always satisfying to see rocks drop on people, unfortunately, H.A. was not injured therefore he may be able to avoid the incoming spell, nor could he drop rocks but this was just as good. “Gan Zot!”

The earth around the tree began to rise and spin, caught in a whirlwind and closing in on the Archer.

Arcion - July 29, 2004 03:20 PM (GMT)
Once the spells had started their effect, the tiger archer had moved back away from the clearing they had made. He wasn't using much of his Archer class in this battle and, even considering that this wood might have been the best place for an advantage to him, he began walking out of the grouping of trees. He glanced over his shoulder towards the burning tree he had created, and noticed that Kamina had gotten away. Better find where to make my stand quickly.

“Oh H.A…. What does a wolf do when it’s injured in a fight…?" The wolf asked as HA retreated. He managed a chuckle and resisted answering "You're not a full wolf though" before Kamina answered himself. “If you guessed ‘run away’ you’re wrong.” The tiger couldn't resist a laugh at that, but his partial attempt to show the wavemaster where he was was thwarted by Kamina calling out the other earth based spell the level 11 set of armor gave.

That with the sudden upthrust of earth worried Heironeous that Kamina wouldn't be able to find and follow himself, but remembering his friend's hack and probable inhanced sence of smell, as well as the tracks that wouldn't be covered up by the spell, would lead the wavemaster to him again.

HA absently considered how long this battle would last, especially since neither him nor his opponent had used a healing spell yet. It could probably easily last another two hours.

Kamina - August 4, 2004 03:48 AM (GMT)
This is taking too long…Kamina thought to him, as he made his way through the dirt and diamond dust thrown up by the snow. Kamina noted what his opponent said before ignoring the comment. I don’t know if that’s completely true anymore…The Wavemaster thought, nor did he know if that would disqualify him. Regardless, he had to see this through. His injured arm grew heavy and stiff from pain and the drying blood. His breath was ragged and dry, his eyes however, did not loose their intensity, with that intensity, and he continued to look through the woods, following the scent left by H.A. The path leads outside, away from the cover of the trees.

“This is as good of a place as any.” Kamina muttered, H.A’s scent grew stronger and he could see the tiger staring blankly as if contemplating something. He had a decent way of waking him up. Silently, he went down on one knee and held the soft red bit of his wand to his lips.
“Ima…” he whispered, the bit glowing a little brighter. “Ima, Wryneck, okitte yo...” A soft cry emanated from the wand as he pointed it towards H.A. “Wryneck! Come forth!!!” Kamina cried, his eyes burning gold, the ground around him, shuddering under the power of his spell, his dark aura caused the snow around him to rise and fall as a purple monster gate appeared from the wand…at least, that was what was supposed to happen.

Damn! Not enough SP! Kamina gritted his teeth and glared out towards the white horizon. This wasn’t going to be easy…

SP 49+1 50

Arcion - August 5, 2004 05:24 AM (GMT)
HA paused and saw Kamina standing on the ground, pointing his wand up towards the tiger. He heard the wolf cry out for the summon the wand gave him, but it did not appear. He guessed it was because the wavemaster didn't have enough SP remaining to summon the creature. If he had, there probably wouldn't be a tiger sitting on the branch any longer. There probably wouldn't even be the branch left. He chuckled at his thinking so small, the branch didn't matter, the entire tree wouldn't survive.

He glanced at the wolf and shot an arrow at the canine. He was extremely tempted to call out a taunt that would likely get him torn to pieces with any canine of the clan, considering the condition he was in, probably this wolf as well. For some reason a picture of Wolf's Rain's Kiba in a strange melding of his human and wolf form. He chuckled at the implied connection between Kiba and Kamina, but he wasn't sure the wavemaster would do some of the things the 'pack leader' did.

His thoughts reminded him he was in a duel, and his attention snapped back to the wavemaster. Still trying to gain that SP you need? He raised his bow and aimed for the wolf's nose, intending Kamina to move and dodge the strike, but it would be a distraction. And if the wavemaster didn't dodge it, getting hit by an arrow on the snout was bound not to feel good.

He fired and then shot off the branch, heading out to the open field where the snowstorm was thicker and it would reduce their visibility. Then he could test out this classes melee capabilities, though he hoped to never have to use them, duels against the rest of his clan and others, would almost require some form of hand to hand, and he planned to be ready and knowledgeable about what he could do.

He never had gotten to perform his trick with his spear of jumping and kicking the opponent, but he had given up the spear willingly and now the bow was his weapon of choise.

SP:82

Kamina - August 9, 2004 05:11 AM (GMT)
Kamina’s cover was now becoming like a prison, a prison of uncertainty and slight boredom. If the Wavemaster ran out with the falling snow, it would make it difficult to see the whizzing projectiles that the Archer would use against him. For once he was truly conscious of his decisions… and it was killing him, since he’s made it this far on pure instinct, he finally decided to-

An arrow fell an inch from his face, landing almost silently in the snow in front of him. H. A’s aim was amazing. He glanced up, growling, noting that another arrow was flying towards him. The wolf tensed. Clutching his wand tightly from the bottom, ready to deflect or bat the arrow away. He shifted his weight to his rear most leg and started the arc that would bring the wand up to intercept the wand, but something happened, as he shifted his weight to his forward leg, the snow under ward gave way sending his feet in the air and his back into the snow. The water instantly started to seep through his robe, freezing his back almost instantly. Thankfully, however the arrow missed its target… unfortunately; instead, it was now lodged in his ankle. Kamina growled at the arrow. A simple Reith spell could take care of his new immobility problem. It would be easier to just end it now. His SP was high enough to bring forth Wryneck.

“Its over!” Kamina howled slamming the end of his wand into the snow, a whirlwind of dark energy surrounded both the Wavemaster and the wand, covering them in the snow kicked up by the rage channeled into the spell... The transparent image of a spherical creature loomed behind Kamina, slowly manifesting itself. Kamina’s eyes gave off a bright red glow loosed howl of rage. Wryneck echoed the howl and loosed his skull barrage in the direction of H.A. there wasn’t enough SP in Kamina to sustain Wryneck any longer. Nor did he have the energy to stay upright anymore. The snow felt so nice against his sweat soaked skin, as did the ice cold air when he inhaled. It cooled down the inferno that was his lungs… he felt like he could fall asleep…but he wanted to make sure to stay conscious long enough to see how much of H.A. would be left from his attack.

Arcion - August 12, 2004 02:09 AM (GMT)
A snowstorm reduces visibility, but a large amount of color, non or full as well is extremely visible due to the color. So Kamina has decided to try and kill me with his favorite spell. He ducked, face down in the snow, his hands over the back of his neck. The spell roared over him, singeing most of his back, turning the fur there black. That wouldn't do for hiding.

He guessed that the wavemaster hadn't followed him since Wryneck would have expended most of the wolf's SP, and wavemasters were probably the weakest of the classes without their magic. Kamina had a tendancy to attack physically, but with no SP and injured he probably wouldn't.

HA was split, he wanted to finish the battle. He also had to test the classes melee abilities. The clan's leader had challenged him to a duel, and with the change in plans from school, he wasn't going to make her wait. He rolled to cool his back off from the attack, and possibly provide him with a little cover, then stood and started walking towards the forest the battle between tiger and wolf was centered around.

He jumped through trees to find a spot he could watch his clansmate safely, the wolf probably knew exactly where he was and could use his replinished SP to attack, but the tiger bet that Kamina's first move when he was able would be to heal himself. And when he did, there would be a wrestling match between canine and feline. Simply because he had faith in Kamina at least giving him a warning if he were to attack, HA sang along with the clan's theme from Julian's time as it started on his player.

"And with the power of conviction
There is no sacrifice
It's a do or die situation
We will be invincible."

SP:84

Kamina - August 14, 2004 12:53 AM (GMT)
Kamina’s SP had finally reached a decent level. 30 SP wasn’t enough to actually do some damage, but it would be enough to get the Wavemaster to his opponent. He pulled himself up to a standing position, the muscles in his ankle felt like they were on the verge of an electrical explosion. Finally in a standing position, Kamina placed his hand over the gemmed bit of the wand, and softly whispered “Repth” A spiral of light engulfed him. Within a few moments, the wounds in his shoulder and ankle were gone, but the sticky stiff feeling of dry blood still remained in his shoe and sleeve. With an evil grin, Kamina strapped the Diabolic Wand to his back, bent down on all fours, wincing slightly as his hands almost instantly lost all heat in them, and bounded across the snow. The Wavemaster was sure that H.A. was somewhere close to where he was running. He could smell it.

”heeeeerrreee pu-“ Kamina kept himself from finishing the comment he reserved for feline characters and drunken stupors. Despite the intent of crudeness, he still respected H.A. and he would respect him, even after he felt his heart beat for the last time in his frozen, blood covered hand…But the first thing was to make it to him.

Arcion - August 16, 2004 09:50 PM (GMT)
The tiger archer had nearly fallen asleep waiting for Kamina to cast Repth. Did it really take that long for the wavemaster's SP to rise to 10? A glance at his own bar read a few points short of full. Evidentally the wolf wanted to have a bit of magic left before attacking again.

The tiger smiled and lept off the branch, activating his anklet to discourage his opponent from casting earth spells while the gap closed between them. He landed and started chasing the wolf, also on all fours. It would be an interesting fight if they decided to stay like that for the battle.
