Title: Things turned for the worst in The World
Description: What a shotdown!

RPGKing - February 14, 2004 06:59 AM (GMT)
I can't believe "The World" got shotdown for like over 3 or more weeks! I had to end up playing Single Player games for awhile now! Did you guys feel bad about "The World" getting shotdown by some wannabe hackers? (OOC: Or was it someone else? :o )

The nature of the game's temporary disconect is still unknown...I suggest you do not throw acusations to those who don't merit it...people do read up. To crash "the world" requires some skill...

Yes, it would take a lot of skill to hack into the world but, it could be done. Mabye the admin. were fixing some problems with the server. They might have updated the server as well. But still, three weeks to update a server? That's quite a while.

You have to know, that "The World" is vastly huge. It wouldn't suprize me if it took 2 months to just update one server. I have to congradulate the people who did it in the fast pace...

That is quite true Fenfer. I am sure there are many places that have yet to be explored. So three weeks reaaly isnt much considered the vastness of the world.

Now back to why it was on hiatus. There are many reasons. Perhaps the Administrators were fixing a slight problem which gave the supposed hacked a quick chance to shut it off. Or maybe it was just a routine check up, which needed it to be shut off. Perhaps we will never know.

Ya the possibilities of having all online character data for those that never save anything would of been aweful if they could't reboot the world . One word to all those people out there , SAVE .

Maybe it was some really big glitch, or maybe even a virus?! You wouldn't think it with how secure ALTIMIT is, but maybe some hacker cracked it. And if it was a virus, the government isn't going to tell us.

I was about to sign onto Mac Anu when.... POOF!!! All gone!

Server Error and everything! My wonder is as to why there was no true "official report".

AND I WAS GOING TO KILL THEM...... KILL THEM ALL!

Sorry.......... What was I saying?
