Bursting Passed Over Aquafield

You got first dibs.

Xheth - January 20, 2004 09:01 PM (GMT)
As Zik came home from the store with his new computer, and entered his key into the door knob. He turned it quickly as temptation to try his new computer overwhelmed him. He rushed into the house and set the computer down on his table. Zik ran upstairs to disconnect his other computer. When he finished he ran back downstairs and pulled out his new computer. Zik took it to his room and plugged it up. When he was done, he turned it on, his new flat screen monitor started to show Windows 2000. Zik decided to test it with "The World," he put on his goggles.

Welcome to The World!

Xheth entered Mac Anu and looked around to see nothing has changed. He remembered he challenged an extremely powerful player to a duel. He feared another loss, but then noticed it to be inevitable against such a player. Xheth wondered if he should even show, but decided it'd be better to go.

He walked toward the Chaos Gate, entered the keywords "Bursting Passed Over Aquafield." When he got there he saw the field to be empty and thought he was early. He sat in the field and twiddled his thumbs as he waited for the other, much more powerful, player. Xheth pulled out his wand and started waving it around as he remembered his spells.

Let’s make this quick…

The small wavemaster strolled along the water capital known as Mac Anu, silently in nature, a locked stare on the Chaos Gate ahead. He spoke nothing, ignoring players as he made his way through random crowds. Cypher was 5 meters behind him, and had been like that since his challengers’ arrival. He had a habit of being early, a trait which he picked up from a friend and fellow player. Xeth now stood in front of the gate, readied his equipment and spoke the field’s name. As he did, Cypher began to climb the stairs which led to the gate.

“Bursting Passed Over Aquafield”

A hint of doubt followed by faulty reassurance was picked up from his speech. Smiling slightly from the discovery, Cypher resumed walking as soon as Xeth disappeared. He stood in front of the gate, quietly contemplating his current equipment. He rearranged it to his liking, setting everything up as usual; Kagayuzen, Hands of Water, Aqua Guard and Nomad’s Hood. His trusty Reliance hung on his side, its beautiful hilt decoration shinning brightly in the warn afternoon sun. It had been a perfect combination of power and grace which in the end granted him victory even in the most unlikely of situations. His confidence was high, his determination was strong. He lusted for a fight, the urge nudging internally at him, the craving slowly increasing as he stood motionless. Everything was ready, and he wasn’t going to keep Xeth waiting.

“Bursting Passed Over Aquafield”

At once the trio of rotating rings enchanted him with their magic, sending his data spiraling into the endless sea of information, until it was to finally arrive at the desired area. His player sprite reintegrated, begging slowly at his feet until all was complete. Sound came about once again, followed by vision, and finally feeling. His feet reacted with the ground, sending off signals of a hard surface. The chirping of animals and the touch of a slight gust on his face, all present to greet. And finally, in the distance sat Xeth, wand in hand, twirling it playfully as he waited for his opponent. Cypher was unsure if Xeth caught his entrance, but no matter. He began a charge, his speed picking up rather quickly. Now he flew, the small gusts now feeling like torrents. In his left hand lay a NightBlight, ready to be released at any second. The plan would be to keep it concealed until dispatching it, then following up with a slash. As he neared Xeth, he tossed the item in the air and toward his direction, then took a giant frontal leap. Hi sword was now horizontal with his chest, leaving it open for a change of course. If Xeth tried sidestepping, he would merely release the slash in his direction. If he stepped back, he would only need to change the sword into a stinger position.

Xheths foe stood before him, but he didn't notice until it was going to be too late. The blademaster neared him and Xheth saw an item fly from his opponents hand. It exploded into a spell and was then followed up by an attack. The spell hit Xheth but he recovered fast enough to dive under Cypher's legs and turned onto his back to see him stumble a little. Xheth cast Rai Rom and rolled onto his back, he then started to run in a direction and turned around.

Got him…

Metal whistled through the air as the Reliance, Cypher’s trusted blade, inched closer and closer to Xeth. A quick death seemed imminent, and Cypher was just about to declare victory. The first half of the wavemaster assault plan had succeeded; the NightBlight found its target, ravaging Xeth’s body with no mercy. The darkness spell did its fair amount of damage, subsiding after about 5 seconds. Its intricate animation began to cease, and Cypher’s objective was now within grasp. Nothing would stop him, nothing could save Xeth, nothing would…

Wtf…?

He had rolled underneath him.

It seemed that the gods where with Xeth. An escape like that was granted only to those with supernatural power, or supernatural luck. Cypher berated himself with curses as he ran by, his sword still in its stinger position. How he let Xeth off the hook was unfathomable, the one-hit kill opportunity being wasted away unnecessarily. His face twisted in anger, disgust and rage. Mistakes like those shouldn’t happen any longer, and he would make damn sure he didn’t waste them again. He began to feel the momentum of his charge slow down, allowing him a chance to slide and turn. He dug his Aqua Guards deep into the rough terrain, his right boot leading ahead as he turned in a skateboard stance. Dirt was flung in the air from his screeching stop, but the desired end result was achieved. He began to turn, the idea of a second charge toward Xeth appealing to him.

“Rai Rom”

His 180 degree turn meet thunder. Blots of shocking electricity came his way, their embodiment being that of the form of a tornado. The twister of thunder rumbled his way, zapping everything in its path. Due to his Hong Kong style slide and stop, he has left himself planted, and being planted meant he would be grossly open for magic. He took it like a man, standing his ground as the tornado neared him.

Your sword…

His Reliance turned out to be thunder based, a blessing in disguise which had unveiled itself to him at the correct time. Just as the twister touched its target, Cypher raised the blade in a diagonal position, both to himself and to the tornado, and awaited. The lightning blots surged through his body, shocking him at medium levels. It was a level one skill, his thunder attribute was high, and his class had some magical defense. Nothing to cry over, definitely not worth a healing spell. Once the spell ceased, Cypher began to search for Xeth. He found him close by, executing a combo of rolls which really did nothing for his current situation. In fact, it made Cypher’s attack all the easier.

“Ap Do (15 SP)”

Cypher began a charge of his own, beginning just as Xeth’s roll ended. He led with his left hand, while his right held the Reliance tight across his body. Once he achieved his desired speed, he lunged forward. He landed on his left hand, pushed forward and rolled KH style, ending it by being 3 feet from Xeth. He then put his sword arm in a perpendicular form (90 degrees) and stabbed forward and down. With the momentum of the speed boost he would then jump high and have his sword slice through his stomach. Once he reached his peek, he would raise the sword over his head, and finished it all with a mighty downward slash.

Bloody indeed.

Xheth saw his enemy grow closer and then attack once more. He tried to dive out of the way, but the blade slit his leg and his dive fell short. It looked gruesome and he was thankful he couldn't feel pain. The next attack was meant to gut him, but in his position, it wasn't possible, however it was still able to cut his leg even more. Before he knew it the attacking rage ended, his leg was extremely wounded. Blood was staining the ground, and Xheth looked up at his enemy. He was able to stand using the unwounded leg and slightly leaning on his other. He saw a tree nearby and he hobbled over to it, it was large, very large. He cast Rai Don, on the giant thing and then another Rai Don. The great tree started to fall, its top where all the spiky branches were located came plummeting down towards Cypher, the spell was probably in the range of a OrJuk Kruz mixed with a little Vak Rom.

(OOC: To whoever judges, I never agreed to erasing the time penalties. I do believe I have one point lost since his post though.)

The sweet melody of ripping skin and splattering blood mixed with whistling metal where the musical tracks provided in Cypher’s highly gory attack. His Reliance was the main protagonist in the furious flick which casted Xheth as the helpless victim. He began his attack after finishing his precise rolls, each spin setting the next move up perfectly. The initial jump had his razor sharp blade targeted right at his crotch area, where the attack would both commence and end. Xheth tried a futile escape, consisting of a half baked jump back. It was cut short however, with Cypher’s blade being the ender of it. While in mid flight, the Reliance entered his leg area, penetrating deep into the muscle and breaking part of his bone. Although his main gutting objective was not achieved, he did succeed in giving Xheth a very ugly gash. The deep cut began just over his ankle and ended a few inches short of his knee cap. Cypher felt a wave of satisfaction as he saw Xheth cringe in pain. He looked so helpless…

But in that helpless shell there was still life. Xheth mustered up the strength to hobble over towards a tree, raise his rod and cast 2 spells.

“Rai Don Rai Don”

You’ve got to be kidding me…

Cypher was surprised at Xheth’s current actions: he not only took his time while casting spells and wasting SP, but he had casted them on a tree. A tree which was spiky, and was big, and began to fall down…slowly. What an insult! He actually thought Cypher would be dumb enough to, being almost double his level, faster class, and get this…*gasp* IN AP DO!!! stand there and wait for the tree to hit him.

“Tisk tisk Xheth. Ever hear of sidestepping?”

He executed the action which he spoke of with the swiftness of a cat. The speed increasing spell which he had casted earlier was a big contributor to it all, making his body glide at double the normal speed. Now clear of the giant tree, he would begin another barrage of attacks on Xeth.

“Ap Corv (15 SP)!!!”

His muscles began twitching uncontrollably, growing double their normal size and mass. Under his conditions, he could now give Arnold a run for his money! As soon as his transformation was complete, he executed a daring charge directly at Xheth’s torso. In his conditions, any form of evading was highly difficult and nearly impossible. His Reliance took the form a dart, speeding insanely at Xheth in a stinger position. Any healing on Xheth’s part would also decrease his movement possibilities.

The kill was so close…will Cypher’s attack end this duel for good?

((OOC: When I had posted the no time penalties was when it was agreed upon, however, The End Cypher withdrew the propsosal, just clearing up the confusion for whoever grades))

Xheth was awed, let alone happy that Cypher had done exactly what he wanted. He new that Cypher would come for him, and so, he would execute te last segment of his plan. The tree had not fallen far, and this was good, if it was much further, he'd not be able to make his plan go into action. He was going to die soon, but he wouldn't in vain, he would be sure to do something before the match was over. Cypher approached and attacked with immense speed, and so Xheth did little in the act of dodging, he let the blow stab him, but he grabbed at Cypher's hand which he'd hold with all his might. He coughed up blood, but the cast a spell, "GiRai Rom! Rai Don!" The GiRai Rom was directed at Cypher, but the Rai Don was directed at the tree. It changed course and headed for Cypher and Xheth. Now falling much much faster. It was falling at the speed a racecar would go while neck-and-neck with an opponent. From Xheth's mouth came, "If I'm going down I'm taking you with me!" The tree started to press down on Xheth's back and push even further, it neared Cypher's head...

(OCC: It's funny yet sad how people take so much liberty in controlling duels...I'm thinking trees fall within a matter of seconds...I sidestepped and, well, we can assume it fell. But I'll ride it through...)

I got him…

Everything happened within a matter of seconds. The running, the screaming, the stabbing…everything turned into a blur, the quickness of the motion being the causer of things. He ran with the grace of a fox, trotting softly over the ground. His red coat fluttered behind, playing with the gusting winds. Crimson pearls which made up his eyes locked onto Xheth, never once leaving the desired spot. It seemed a bit strange that his opponent would stand there without any intentions of dodging, and would allow Cypher’s sharp and deadly blade penetrate him. But Cypher wasn’t the type to pass out on such a welcoming treat, no no, it looked just too good.

“Gotcha”

The sword entered without hesitation, each piece of muscle and tissue succumbing to the blade like a hot knife through butter. The feel of the sword transcended to the hilt, and the hand which wielded it received the same feeling. It fell…good. The satisfaction he felt by inflicting such pain to Xheth was incomparable to even the greatest of moments. And in all his basking of pleasure, Cypher missed Xheth’s intentions.

"GiRai Rom! Rai Don!"

Such courage! Xheth had not only accepted a deadly strike by Cypher, which surprisingly did not kill him, but he also attacked him! Xheth indeed showed his valor by executing the first magical attack. Such a wide attack, capable of injuring himself, yet he dismissed this possibility to injure Cypher. Was Xheth’s desire to eliminate Cypher that grand? It seemed so, as the next magical blast was directed at the falling tree behind him. But hadn’t the tree landed earlier? Maybe it bounced? It seemed Cypher’s assumptions that the tree was influenced by gravity was false, seeing as the Gan Don hit the tree, and showing master targeting by Xheth even in the most critical of situations, changed its course. But had Cypher seen clearly? Or had his VR goggles fogged up?

*wipe wipe*

My word! Clearly he saw, and what he saw was unfathomable! The tree, now speeding like a race car, was zooming directly at the coupled fighters! Xheth had indeed mustered up a master plan. One that involved a most certain death on his part, just to take little old Cypher down.

What shall I do?

Cypher felt despair settle inside him as the tree neared, but his desperation turned into fear. And that fear, doubling and tripling itself, had converted into adrenaline, the fuel for the successful fighter. It gushed through Cypher’s body, and at once he reacted. To save himself from the crashing catastrophe, he first twisted his grabbed arm in small contorting moves. Xheth was of a strengthless class, was several levels bellow him, and was highly injured. A small grab of his hand was not enough to keep Cypher at bay. After a few twits his arm came free, and with that momentum built he fell backwards. The tree caught some of his leg, scathing it and bruising it badly. Cypher found himself now face down in the ground, grabbing at his leg from pain.

What happened to Xheth?

Since the crash, not a peep could be heard form the courageous wavemaster. Had his main weapon squashed him? Was Xheth now just a mere paper thin film underneath the bark? When he grabbed on earlier, it seemed like he had lost the hope to survive, and merely wished to take Cypher with him.

“Repth (10 SP)”

Once healed, he erected himself fully and awaited for any signs of life. If there was even the slightest move, he would sweep in and kill away.

(Occ: 10 day mark? Man, your trying to win by any means eh? That 10 day mark was only when divergence crashed, meaning people who did not know it came back up. The rule is useless now. If not, duels like Asura's and others would have been closed by now. See them closed? Nope. Yes, I lost 2 points if that's what you are implying. But then again, you have lost quite a few also. Don't spam this up with occ, next time PM me)
