Title: Why?
Description: oh why?

Deadly Clown - January 24, 2004 01:27 AM (GMT)
To rape and pillage this digital world known as The World!

GWU HU HA HA HA HA HA HA!

*cough*

I'll just go burn something...

Fury's End - January 2, 2004 05:51 AM (GMT)
Why, oh why, do you play in the WORLD?

Everyone has their own reason... why do you play?

I...

I must get stronger...

honor is not given...

it is earned...

Amadeo - January 3, 2004 03:00 AM (GMT)
Well, as for me, I started playing for one simple reason: fun! It's a game after all, and I'm just going to have fun with it. I don't have any higher goals in mind, no real desire to become massively powerful or gather an enormous amount of items like other people might. Maybe I will later on, or maybe I won't. I rather enjoy being whimsical. ^.^

Fury's End - January 3, 2004 04:42 AM (GMT)
Has The WORLD changed you in anyway since you began playing?

Deadly Rose - January 3, 2004 05:19 AM (GMT)
honor go's to the mods,. if ya want honor, then your goal is to become a mod right?

Amadeo - January 3, 2004 05:28 AM (GMT)
Eh? Changed me? Of course not...it's just an MMORPG. How could that change anything about me? o.o I'm not about to become so involved in the game that I'd consider it a life-changing experience in any fashion.

Why do you ask? Has it changed you in any significant way?

Fury's End - January 3, 2004 06:02 AM (GMT)
I was always a loner that tried to not talk with people...

Now it seems I like to talk with people more, so longs as I am "in" the WORLD that is. Outside I am still the morbid loner I always was.

A mod? Of the BBS? No way! :P

I want to get out of this slump of newbisim so that people will respect me some!

Amadeo - January 3, 2004 06:10 AM (GMT)
Aaaah...I see what you're getting at now. Personally I'm a somewhat-hyperactive chatterbox both on and off The World. I probably haven't been playing long enough for the game to cause me to modify my personality while I'm on it....if it ever does, that is. I kinda doubt it, though.

Fury's End - January 3, 2004 06:20 AM (GMT)
I reeally like The WORLD now mainly because it allows you to do stuff that you normally wouldn't.

For a long time there I was really not interested in any RPG game, ever. A gun gamer and action adventure gamer. But now I wonder how I ever went without it!

((ooc:Deadly Rose, this is an IC thread and mods are not ic. That post would have to be in ooc.

(OOC: ph34r she who leaps upon OOCness!

Okay, Anthony, stop going around trying to stop OOCness if you don't know what OOC is or isn't.

Saying that glory goes to the mods would basically be saying glory to the Crimson Knights or Knights of War, both of which were moderators in The World. Moderator is naturally shortened to mod. Thus, it is perfectly IC to talk about mods.

Laylia - January 4, 2004 06:16 AM (GMT)
I have always loved RPGs of any shape or form!

Magic is always fun!

TEE HEE!

~_^

Ichida - January 4, 2004 05:18 PM (GMT)
Haha, same. Any decent RPG I'll play. THE WORLD really appealed to me when I read the box. I play because it's an adventure to see how strong you can become, and also because I knew I'd make some friends and allies here ^-^

Gwen_Pendragon - January 4, 2004 05:33 PM (GMT)
ooc: originally I joined...well, its kinda weird to admit, but I joined because I wanted to be better than Lyra...no really we joined like a day apart, but she was already way better than I and she even told me to join, gave me the site and all...I'm so competitive, but thats mainly the reason I joined...

I had already been in Chat RP's and wasn't to crazy about forums, but when I registered, I saw the Army of Darkness...well being the ROTC rat that I am I automatically decided that I wanted there...rather than Ly's Figment Raiders...well once I got accepted, pratically the next day, I met Angelus (or as he was known back then DUDE911666)...he helped me so much...he taught me how to post, that basics of a duel, and took me on my first 'real' quest...I got 2 levels for that one...countless parties later, Angelus' comp was placed on the inactive list...a hacker had attacked him and gave his comp 30 or so viruses...It was hell when he left, I found out just after I'd gotten back from the Homecoming dance of 2003...Ly was at my house and when we logged on we saw his posts...just seeing his name having posted on the board gave me hope that he was back...then we read them...I was in complete shock, Ly seemed to go straight from shock to tears...it was like the deep hole that had been momentarily blocked, had once more resurfaced in my heart...days later I still couldn't believe it, but I told myself he would be back, and to stay with .hack//...

well that's not the entire reason I'm still here, but its a part...

(OOC: Shouldn't this be OOC?)

Azuka - January 4, 2004 11:45 PM (GMT)
Truthfully I havent the faintest if the game has changed me a bit. But I started playing because I wanted to get away from real life. This game seemed the perfect way to do so.

(OOC: Ph34r he who has too much time on his hands, so he corrects incorrect correcting of OOCNess!!

If you look clearly Ichida, the whole post is OOC or at least should be. She never actually closed the parentheses (sp?)

So basically all of her post was OOC and she only should have closed her parentheses to avoid confusion.

Ejj - January 23, 2004 03:27 PM (GMT)
The reson I started to play THE WORLD is because I wanted to be my true self.
A wanderer in THE WORLD, and I realy dont like the real world. so here I am. ^_^

lugiablaster - February 14, 2004 02:01 AM (GMT)
I have no life, and have beaten every game that was thrown at me, so I heard that this game was hard, so I took my hand at this game.

Lyra - February 22, 2004 07:46 AM (GMT)
Hmm...
I came here to hide from life, to get away from what I didn't like about the real world. Unlike others, I didn't plan to find new friends and to learn to work better as a group.
I've wound up finding myself, and with dozens of friends I would have never met otherwise, all wonderful people, and I've wound up a leader and a powerful fighter, two things I never would have been without The World.
Its changed me a lot, thats for certain...

Sojuro - February 22, 2004 07:51 AM (GMT)
WHy i joined "The World"? Hummm..... Well i guess it would have to be because i love MMORPGS. I am constantly jumping from one MMO to another so i thought, "Why not give 'The World' a shot?".

Nikkio2003 - March 13, 2004 07:06 PM (GMT)
Why I began playing THE WORLD... hmm.
Well that, really, is because of a few different reasons. One- I had too much free time, and believe it or not living alone for three months with minimal outside interactment besides job-hunting can get to you.. one day, family visited(I live a few states away from them, so this isn't a daily event- also reason for job-hunting and knowing noone. I'm not exactly.. a social butterfly). My two neices told me about a game, which they unceremoniously dumped onto my computer without asking- to atone, they decided for the three of us to make a character. The rest of the day, they explained all the tiresome details about The World.
Two- as mentioned, my neices. They dragged me on, and for some reason seem to like me. So I'd give them something to do with their amassed amounts of free time- search for me on this game they seemed enamored to- it's a sign they're on too much if they've altogether 100+ close friends on this. They know my screen name, but have yet to talk to me more than a couple of times.. guess they had more important others.
Three- I've nothing to do. It's near a year from when I first logged on, and though I faded out once or twice, I haven't acquired many "RL" people I can talk to except for a few co-workers at my job. Therefore I come onto here for a healthy amount of time to kill off these dull hours at home.
Hide from life? Not in the least. Those of you whom are "hiding", take a good look at yourself. It's a game, not another reality. Life just hasn't given me many things I can do with my life at the moment.

I don't think it's changed me at all.

Fenfer - March 13, 2004 10:29 PM (GMT)
You can't hide from life, thats true. But, you can try to get away from it for awhile. It's like daydreaming, you are pretending you are somewhere else. There is nothing wrong with it. I bet you do it on some rare cases too.

Life has enough things for humans to do. Go to a park or something, it'll have something there for you. If your 21+ and older, go check at clubs or something, there sure to be new people to meet there.

I can't help ya, sorry about that. I may or may not speak for everyone in "THe world" but its a another experience for us to relax into, like a fantasy story, or another. Just enjoy it. (Like that nike commercial.. "JUST DO IT".. lol ^^;)

Why I played "The world"? It relieves my stresses that I cannot express in school. Also, :o it makes me sound smart! ;P j/k ^^ Anyway's, ja ne~

Duo0017 - March 13, 2004 10:35 PM (GMT)
I don't know why I began to play this game. A friend told me about it and I tried it out. I loved it and bought it and after track practice I play for three hours. Plus, I love RPGs.

Fenfer - March 13, 2004 10:48 PM (GMT)
(OOC: (Im off topicing. Not saying Duo off topiced >.> bah you know what I mean)) :offtopic: Isn't that just clarifying why you bought the game? ^^

Alexiel - April 1, 2004 02:06 AM (GMT)
Why? I'm not sure. I love anime and manga and fantasy and adventure. So, you know, I guess it's just away for me to be a part of the things I love.

Shien - April 1, 2004 05:19 AM (GMT)
A friend of mine installed the game on my computer since his didn't have the requirements to play it. I eventually decided to give it a shot, and now here I am.
