As the last bell for the day's classes rang, there was a shuffling of papers and murmured conversations beginning to spring up throughout the classroom. Asa quickly put her classwork into her backpack and hurried out of the classroom towards her locker. While she was putting away her folders, she collapsed into an explosion of paper and giggles as her best friend attacked her from out of nowhere like a chuckling maniac.

"Hey, silly, we're going to the mall after school, wanna come?" her friend, Becky, asked when their giggle-fit finally began to calm down.

Asa started to clean up the papers on the ground, stuffing them hastily back into their folders and straightening them out, so they would look presentable to anyone who didn't know they were grossly out of order. "Sure, what are you going to do?"

The two had calmed down to an almost normal point, though both of them were smiling widely. "You know, the usual. Checking out the stores, flirting with the sales guys. All that normal stuff."

"Sounds fun!" Asa grinned and pulled out her phone, "Let me just call my dad and let him know."

Twenty minutes later, the two friends were at the city mall chatting with a group of five or six friends who were chatting animatedly about anything. Asa watched them, laughing when one of the girls told a funny story, or making a face when they talked about something awkward that had happened with a boy at school. She always enjoyed hanging out with friends, and being around people, but she could never really find the right things to say when there was an opening. Because of this, she usually got the reputation for being the shy girl in the group.

As the group walked around the mall, Asa talked to Becky about her day. Becky was probably the only one of her friends that she felt she had any real connection with, most people who met them for the first time together thought they were sisters. Throughout all the stores, they were talking about the clothes, and which ones were the best, and the boys they thought were cute. The only difference between them seemed to be Asa's love for video games. Towards the end of the group's circuit through the mall, they passed a game store, and Asa saw a new advertisement in the window.

It was pastel blue, pink and white, and was selling a game called "The World" at a great sale price. Asa had heard some great things about the game from some people she talked to online, and made a mental note to get it before she went home.

A few minutes later, the group was in the mall's parking lot, getting ready to disperse.

"You ready to go?" Becky was bouncing towards the brand new car she had gotten a couple of months earlier as a Sweet 16 birthday present from her parents.

Asa hesitated, remembering the game, and told her friend, "I think I'm going to go back and get something I saw. I can catch the bus home. See you tomorrow?"

"Ooooh! is it that guy from the record store?" Becky teased, "Excellent choice, dear! I'll see you in the morning."

Becky drove off, and Asa went back into the mall alone. She didn't usually like going to the chain mall video game stores, but she knew she couldn't get the price here anywhere else, and headed in. After not too long, she was on the bus and on her way home. As she held the box in her hands, Asa felt the usual electric anticipation she got whenever she purchased a new game. The feeling that something new and wonderful was in store for her, and it was just a click or two away. When the bus reached her stop, she jumped off, and ran into the adventures the new game held for her.
