Ohkay~ It's lived, died, and is coming back again soon. Anyone who still hasn't joined can still post their character descriptions here. Don't IM or PM them to me. I'll probably just forget they were there, since i just look through this thread for everything. Just post them. People entering now probably won't be in the story for a longlonglong time, unless their character is involved with someone already introduced.

I'm going to clean out the intro and maybe offer it as a download instead, at least until I'm done redoing it.

Here's some things you might want to know before trying to get in:

-There's no guarantee you'll be included, but if you are you'll be famous :'D not really.
-The setting/story has been changed. There is no videogame 'The World', so either your game character or made-up irl character will be used. There are four different areas of the new setting: the spreading, industrialized East, the "magical" West, the antarctic North caused by the East's industry, and the Southern ocean. Your character can come from any of these, considering he/she fits into the area.
-Your character will most likely not be in the spotlight. Unless I really like their attitude/design.
-I will most likely change part of your character. but only to make them fit into the story better or make them easier to draw.
-I will not use characters that look like pre-existing characters. Whether they're from any .hack// series or any other anime, manga, or game.

Your character will still be copyright to you, regardless of any adaptations I make to them. There's no form to fill out, just make sure you describe your character in as much detail as you can. Dont forget to include details on personality too; likes/dislikes, people important to them, religion(it can be important), etc.

Count me in! This looks really amazing! Your works are great!

Here's my character. Yeah, sure, it's the one I use here, but if you end up changing him, it'll be interesting.

Name: Baron
Age: 19-ish
Outfit: Baron wears a light-grey bandana over his head that is marked with a half-moon on the front-center. By "half-moon" I mean a perfect circle that is half-black, half-white. He wears a silver vest over a long-sleeve green shirt. There is a small medallion hanging from a silver chain around his neck. It doesn't draw attention, but it is there. Each of Baron's hands have a black glove on them. They don't cover the fingers; rather, they terminate right at the first joint of each finger. The gloves have a rectangular-shaped cut on the back, revealing the backs of Baron's hands. On the back of his left hand is a tattoo in the shape of a half-moon, identical to the one on his bandana. He wears a pair of light-green pants, and the ends of the legs cover his boots.
Appearance(Other): Black hair, kinda longish. Tied in a ponytail in the back, but it doesn't go below his neck. Silver eyes, normal pupils. Fair-skinned, not tan or pale. Medium height, slighter frame than most.
Personality: Baron is a treasure-hunter to all extents. His main goal in life is to find lost and valuable treasures. He searches not for the material value, but for the adventure. He is generally light-hearted, not discouraged by much and making a joke out of life. He is a wanderer, never staying in one place for long, so he's always going between the various "areas." He's not one to sit still long, and his lack of patience gets him in trouble from time to time. He shows respect to those who have earned it, but otherwise, his happy-go-lucky attitude gets on a lot of people's nerves. If there is a chance at treasure, even a rumor, then he'll jump on the possibility, checking every angle.

Name: Shenmock
Age: 17
Outfit: The first adjective that comes to mind when you first see Shenmock is white. Shenmock wears a white, short-sleeved jacket over a gray T-shirt, the gray T-shirt having markings on the back, the markings never being seen. He wears green shorts, dark green flames coming down on the front of it. The shorts have few pockets. He doesn't wear gloves or shoes so he can carry his weapon around easier and get the feeling of how you play the game. He doesn't wear a hat, yet he does wear a green headband, a backwards F protruding from it. Overall, Shenmock looks like a regular Long Arm.
Other: Light blue hair steams down his head and reaches to the top of his neck, being considered long, but not the kind of long that girls wear their hair in. He also has emerald green eyes, seeming to contact the stars themselves.

Personality: Shenmock is a person that you don't come across often. In his free time he sometimes just looks down into empty space, nothing coming across his mind. You can never tell if he's mad or angry. He usually is alone and hardly has any friends, but sometimes he actually does something with the few friends he has. At times he'll even stop sleeping for a day or two. He always keeps his thouhgts to himself and is never seen happy. If you saw a smile on his face you would be amazed to know that he never smiles. Never.

Shenmock also likes to think of the dark side of things, his background usually filled with the unknown and darkness. Thinking on the dull things can sometimes be a weakness, but it doesn't bring confidence, but it can't make weakness either.

Raven
IRL age: 17
Blademaster
Description: Raven has short brown hair, brown eyes, and is of a medium build. He wears a pair of black track pants and a black t-shirt with his katana sheathed at his side through his belt. All of this is usually obscured by the black cloak he wears around him, but he usually keeps the hood down. When in battle, he tosses the cloak over his shoulders so it looks more like a cape. It's a rather simple design, but he likes it that way because he doesn't feel that he needs to draw attention.

Personality: Raven usually has a bit of an outgoing, fun attitude, but just can't seem to bring himself to invite people to his party when he does something. If anyone is in his party, he is usually the one who was invited. He likes to protect weaker players, but only to the point where they're still learning to improve themselves. He can't stand bullies of any kind, and seeing anyone abused or picked on is one of the few times he will get very angry. When he's angry, his personality is like that of a beast, but with more precision in his strikes. He is also rather skilled at fighting despite his low level. This comes from all the many times he's been attacked by higher level players, he has learned to make up for power difference with skill. It only works to a certain point of course, but it is part of what makes him who he is.

Sounds like fun.

He stands a few inches over six feet tall. A pair of sandles are strapped two his feet, two straps on top of each. The sandals are made of brown leather, slightly offsetting the white tone of his feet. The robe barely reveals his ankles, you can't sense much about them besides the vague sense of thickness. If one were to remove the clothing they would find his legs well built, calves seemingly etched in marble. Chiseled, well-defined, thick, but not lumpy. The robe covers most of his body, revealing only a pair of hands atop sturdy wrists. His hands are well-worn, finding comfort on the shaft of a spear, or in extreme cases, on the hilt of a sword. The fingers are long and wiry, suited to any number of means from strangling an enemy to caressing a loved one.

The torso of his robe is topped by a red vest, one that stops at his waist. The V-Neck extends down to his solar plexus region, revealing the black robe underneath. Square pockets adorn the vest symmetrically, they hold his items and the like. On the back of the vest, near the neck is a small loop where the boy can sling his spear during moments of calm. Going beyond the robe and vest, his arms are well defined, lean, but strong, revealing thick muscle, giving his arms width as well as definition. His chest is solid, yet not uncomfortable. It is defined, but it can be used for both protection and comfort. Extending down, his ribs and abdomen look relatively normal, developed, but not overly to a major extent. He is broad shouldered and barrel-chested, almost seeming proud to the point of arrogance when he holds himself erect.

His neck isn't too thick, he's not bull-necked, but its not a twig either. It has an air of thickness about it, but it seems to be just fine. His somewhat rounded chin is framed by a rather heavy-set jaw line. He appears clean shaven, nothing out of the ordinary about his lips. His nose seems to fit his face just fine, not a button nose, but not extremely pointed. This leads up to his eyes. His eyes have a weary look about them, and they hold a touch of sadness. They droop slightly, the white pupils framed by the redness around them. When Torvald is in full position his eyes "Bleed" becoming completely red. When his hack is activated, the pupils darken. A few strands of white hair hang down the front of his face, wavering idly in front of his forehead. For the most part, it sticks up, spiked to what most people would refer to as medium length. His hair is a pale white, moreso then his skin. His ears if anything, may seem a small tad larger than what would be normal.

something else i've decided to do is have the character's clothes change every now and then... because it would be gross to have them wearing the same outfit for the entire time, 'specially when they're running around getting bloody and stuff. ._o''' but i'll figure out the other outfits laterr

Baron looks very... chibi-ish. I'm going to get that drawing up ASAP. But a good first try, going off of description. I'll try to do it during school today.

Name- Migedo

Age- 17 or so

Class- Long arm

Clothing- Midego wears a pair of black denim pants slightly loose on his hips, and a pale green button-down shirt with the sleeves worn up. A silver chain hangs around his neck with a silver coin resting at the end. He is thin and tall, but is built with strength that betrays his appearance. Lanky and slightly awkward with his movement, it is easy to see that he has yet to develop the grace that would be expected of a long arm.

Eye color- Jade

Height- 6 feet 5 inches

Hair color- Black with tight curls, close to his head

Personality- He is a very intelligent teenager, but socially awkward. Sarcastic and a skilled debater, it's hard for him to make friends. Although he seems arrogant, Migedo is really a nice young man, but has had no experience making friends and doesn't want to screw up any opportunities he has. When he does make friends, he'll protect them with his life.

This looks really cool. I'm sorry, but I can't draw at all, but from what I've seen I think you can handle it, if you so choose.


EDIT: I didn't see the part about important people; he has a companion of sorts that he has to defend.

Name- Dahlia

Age- 28

Class- Wavemistress

Clothing- She wears a long silk dress that reaches down to just above her ankles. It has long sleeves that she never has to bother with and all of the hemming has a white lace trim. She wears a pair of black stilletto heels and carries a staff in the shape of a Dahlia with a whole lot of petals. She is graceful and regal in both her movements and mannerisms, even in this garb.

Eye color- Wine; a purplish red sort of color

Height- 5 feet 9 inches

Hair color- White, down to her shoulders but always worn up in a bun

Personality- Dahlia is quiet but articulate, elegant but level-headed and humble. She is intense when the situation is right, but usually is the one that keeps her head on her shoulders. Very enigmatic, she is one to keep secrets for as long as possible until the information must be disclosed.

I'm thoroughly impressed by your abilities, Kaz. I started Divvy right about the time you left way back when, so I've never delved into your posts or character details. Your artistry is amazing; fantastic CG, and the cross-integration of hard sketch and color is a very bold, uniquely enthralling technique. I didn't know such skill was present among our ranks. Truly, very, very impressive.

The idea of seeing my character through the hands and eyes of an artist is a tempting one indeed. I would hesitate to submit Exangelus, for sake of your workload (which, when this gets around, I'm sure will be massive, if not already), but... meh, I'll throw him out there, just in case you need an overly-detailed character doused in grit and black.

I won't take it personally if you choose not to use him. ;]

If you decide to, though, don't worry about all the silly details. They're just for the writing aspect - anything black/gray-themed will work for Ex.

Again, amazing work - I'm very excited to see how the manga plays out.


Desc. Info.:

Torso: On the base, he wears a thin, skin-tight black layer that compresses and a supports his muscles, while cooling in the heat and warming in the cold. He wears a similar garment on his thighs and upper shins. His arms are wrapped in belts, cut off so that only small portions hang off, that provide a good amount of protection against slashes and grinds, while still allowing free movement. Over the thermal layer, he wears a combination leather breastplate and facemask; in that, the lower portion contours to his lean physique as something of a cuirass to provide protection and mobility, while the upper portion forms into a bowl-shaped leather barrier, over his jaw and nose, that cuts down on wind chill and hides his face when needed. This mask buttons in the front with anodized steel buttons, and is supported internally by wire to keep shape.

Legs: He wears heavy-duty leather cargo pants, sparsed through-and-through with deep pockets and clips for holding anything he has on him. One belt attaches to his waist; black leather with circular studs, and two more attach around his thighs near his knees, providing further support. These also serve as secondary sheath supports, attached to the bottom portion of his weapon scabbards, the top portions looping around his abdomen with two separate, cross-linked belts. His boots are purposeful and tactical; they buckle to mid-shin, over the pants, and are rubber-cleated on the bottom for traction and grip. His ankles are always wrapped in gauze, both to support his joints and keep them aligned in battle. His pants have attached suspenders that would allow him to wrap them around his shoulders, should the need ever arrive, but he usually just lets them hang at his sides.

Outer: Over everything, he wears an ankle-length leather trench coat, sparsed like his pants with pockets and buckles for all his needs. It folds over his facemask base and underclothes with natural ease. It isn’t too heavy, more duster than trench coat, and is oiled to repel water. Generally removed when fighting, it is almost always worn open, save for cold weather, and is tattered all over by scrapes, scratches, scuffs and all manner of dirty abrasions. Some long cuts are sewn with coarse black linen, but there are few. He wears fingerless leather gloves and a loose, outer muscle shirt over his thermal layer and cuirass.

Height: 6’ 2”

Hair color: The hair he started out with has grown, leaving untamed black spikes falling down his face and neck; he has, however, kept his bangs at bay, and only a few stray across his face. His sideburns have grown a bit ragged, and come to jagged points below his jawline. A light haze of stubble lines his chin.

Eye color: Dark, gunmetal irises accented by flecks of silver. Black flares of nothing take the place of his pupils; resembling the cataracts of a blind man, though the purest black, they do not hinder his vision. They are simply a remnant from Omega.

Jewelry and Tattoos: He wears the same garnet earring and triple bands in the cartilage on his ear. The ball necklace around his neck has lost its tarnish, but still remains. Around his left middle finger is a ring, a ring he is forbidden and possibly unable to remove, bearing the symbol of elemental darkness. Daath, a specter known to him only in the user-created Omega Server, has revealed little of its true use or purpose, but refers to the artifact as “The Final Ring.”

Don't worry about it- I completed the drawing today, shading and all, and as soon as I can find somewhere to put it up (I don't have Photobucket or anything) then I'll post it here.

Clothing: Black pants and an equally dark knee-length open leather coat adorns his figure, complimented by the dark green shirt that gloats a tight capture of his chiseled features, features given to him by the natural prowess of the Beast. The coat itself is topped off with a big leather hood; big enough to submerge his face into shadows when pulled up completely. The same coat has seams and tribal markings of a dark green shade over its surface, almost indistinguishable against the black of the leather. A metal-balled necklace with the full moon drooping from its "center" hangs from his neck, sunlight bouncing off its surface to shine spots of light onto the raven leather of his boots. Fingerless leather gloves tighten nicely on his hands followed by metal cuffs that extend six inches from his wrist down. The cuffs are a sleek, black and otherworldly metal, equally dark and hard to see tribal designs decorating their surface. In the center of each, where others might have a jewel, are wolfish eyes that glow a fiery green, eyes that belong to Nulus in his hidden state.
Eyes: A glacial, Siberian Husky blue.
Hair: Dark brown and a tad wavy, falling just short of his shoulders.
Height: Six feet even.
Personality: Due to his family situation (see Story), he tends not to be very aggressive when it comes to making social connections. He wears a very stern and almost stoic demeanor, but his need to protect those around him and those he cares for makes him a caring softy of sorts at his core. He would never show it, never admit to it, but it's there. Some have also referred to him as a 'lovable asshole,' so that's something as well.
Special: The left side of his face is adorned with burn scars (from silver IC, but you can change how he got them if you wish) and his left eye flickers between his blues and the amber of the wolf (this you can have as just a wolf eye all the time, if you wish). Also, when anger or any other intense motion plays through him, both eyes tend to melt into the amber eyes of a wolf. The scars aren't needed, but I just thought I'd give him how he is now so you can adapt how you need to.
Weapon: He's a Heavy Blade IC and I'm sure you've seen enough anime involving people with those huge broad swords to know the kind of design he uses.

That's the profile info I have on here (with some tweaks) and, hopefully, that will give ya' what you need. If you need anything else, just let me know.

For clarification, in The World he's a werewolf that can turn into:



...that, but if you end up using him and just have him able to turn into a normal wolf, that's fine too. Hell, it's your manga, so you can even nix the wolf thing if you wish. It'd just be fun to see it used if you end up using his character. It could even fit in with your 'Anima' storyline in the manga.

I know you didn't want people having characters that look like existing anime people, so I want to clarify that Zan doesn't necessarily look like Kiba. I only have him in my signatures in such as a rough reference. Feel free to adapt him anyway you need to.

I really look forward to seeing how the manga turns out, whether or not I'm involved. Looks great already.

Description:

Personality: Adventurous, to be concise. He is a battle enthusiast, always ready to brandish his sword, and whether it's for his own profit or someone else's, his sword is always up for hire. At times he may seem a bit n00bish, but he calls it being high-spirited, which isn't entirely untrue. A strong sense of justice runs through him, though he is also aware that justice, like most things, can be very subjective. He is more intelligent than he seems, and tries to provide insight where he can, though it usually isn't too helpful.

Feel free to ask more if you end up using my character. It's no problem if you decide not to, though. As for the changing outfits, use whatever you think would complement the style of what he's got on now. I'll leave it to you.

Age: 16

Hair Colour: Red

Hair(other): Short, hangs just above his shoulders.

Personality: Kashi is a pretty quiet kid, he doesn't really like to argue and always tries to be as polite and formal to others as he can. He doesn't anger easily, but when he gets aggrivated, he'll go out of his way to inflict some sort of revenge upon the provoker(either physically or emotionally). Not all that big a fan of fighting when not in a mood, he prefers the machinations of science or the mystifying effects of magic. If forced to, he would rather use one of those in battle.

Physical Description(other): Close to six feet tall, he is of a thin build. One long scar adorns the left side of his face, starting at the corner of the left eye and stretching to the left ear. His eyes are green.

Clothing: Varies, although he likes to wear light long-sleeved shirts and jeans. One thing that almost never leaves his person is the gold chain hanging around his neck, with the crystal rose in the middle of it. Considered his most valuable possession by him.

Preferred Weapon: Poles, Spears, and Staves(long-distance weapons). Will wield a short sword if there's nothing else handy.

The VoT, as envisioned by Wren and probably people before him, were supposed to be a collection of what he thought were the best writers on Divergence. I was a part of it for some time and I admit we acted like a bunch of elitists, but you could tie that in if you happened to want to. Just some more info for ya'. You could translate elitist writers into elitist [warriors, something, etc.].

Personality: Intelligent, pacifist, can be extremely mean, Usually Happy, Likes going on adventures and or quests, can be depressed sometimes, likes to be strategic, doesnt like to run into battle.

I have a drawn picture of him if you would like to see it but first I need to figure out how my scanner works, and if I need to I can color it as well if you would like me me to.

(Just for you to know my drawn character has a few changed things from the original becuase for me I couldnt draw them so if you do choose my character to participate in the story you are allowed to change the things back to the original state or modify things.)

He only uses it on tough opponents, he'll use his arms and legs on weaklings. He will use his sword as a shield against attacks.

as to where she comes from.. industrialized east sounds pretty good to me. though antarctic is okay too because i want to put some fur into the new-ish design for chase.

Name: Arinyes

Class: Wavemaster

Age: 24

Description: Standing a grand total of 4'5'', she appears like a proportianally correct diminutive version of a slender woman with moderate bosom. Her eyes are green and her brown hair cascades halfway down her back, the exception of a braid handing down the left temple with a piece of leather tying off the end. A foresty green band of cloth surrounds her chest, barely covering the top of her breasts and only reaching as low as the middle reef, with similarly colored panties, going underneath a tan skirt that slants from the left hip to her right calf. A brown sash is tied across her hips, the knot and long ends hanging down her right side. Her feet are bare.

Her weapon, named 'Crescent Wolf's Eye' is a hack of the graphics to override the regular programming. Two thirds of the entire staff is a translucent substance dominated by a soft green hue, the last third being a piece of green metal that ends in a tilted crescent moon, the two ends pierced by a steel pin, holding a globe of similar translucent substance in the heart of the crescent, the lower end of the pin attached to a short chain holding a brown stone carved in the shape of a wolf's head.

Character: Simply put; complex. Goes into everything on a whim and fancy without any singular design. Quiet in larger groups, can be dominating with only two or three people around. A firm loner and short tempered in combat (tends to get in close and physical), offset by motherly care and patience for anyone she percieves as someone needing protection or help. Occasionally getting into manic moods, has the tendency of answering questions by lateral interpretation of the actual meaning, or just saying something silly. Expresses her optismism by pesimistic remarks and generally takes things at face value, treating pretty much everything with a certain soberness when not plagued by the mania.

Okayz, here goes:

He's got short, spikedy hair in the typical anime-ly style that, depending on his mood and on the lighting is anywhere between a rich mahogany and a dark brown (almost black). Face is roughly average, but I'll leave that up to your imagination. He's got dark blue eyes (see avatar for color reference), and his outfit is as follows: dark denim jeans are held fast by a simple tan belt. This is usually hidden from view, though, by the white, low-cut V-neck armless shirt that he wears (more on why it's low-cut in a minute). Over the shirt and pants, he wears two crossing belts that share a buckle that are essentially bright-red snake-skin (only it's actually dragon-skin, but whatever). One belt flows into a bag of similar material that rests comfortably against his right thigh to hold items and equipments and stuff (bag of infinite holding?), and a scabbard (blademaster) lies against his opposite thigh, stretching off the other belt (so they cross at the buckle and make an X). For shoes, he wears lightweight, tan boots. On top of all this, he wears a dark-gray charcoal-colored trenchcoat (before it burns), with lighter gray embroidery about its base. The thing about this trenchcoat, though, is that the arms have been ripped off.

This reveals adequately muscular arms, though nothing overly bulky. Around his right arm, at the bicep, an ornate tattoo forms a faux-armlet that models the styling of the two distinguishable symbols in it: . Overall, he's about 5'11", with a sporty build. Also, centered in his chest, just below the clavical, there is a hole about an inch and a half wide. It runs clear through his body and can be seen through, though all that is there is the fabric of the back of his shirt. This is the reason why the V-neck is low cut, so as not to agitate the hole (which is particularly black, through and through). Also, distinct to Dien are scars that run from armpit to neck, reminiscent of when the shirt lost its arms (though no scars accompany the torn trenchcoat).

One thing to note about Dien is that he's pretty much a pyro. Primarily a blademaster, he uses a sword to fight, but fire is also a friend of his, and whenever he uses it his eyes change color to something that can only be described as fiery. Generally he's very protective of his friends and family, but is also fairly friendly to be around. He's a very logical fellow as well, which leads him to over-analyze a lot of things, and hold a strong distrust of most people.

Nah, he'd dodge the draft, find some random tomb to pillage, and call it a day. He might make a brief cameo if he gets attacked or something, and has to be saved, but beyond that, I think war's a little out of his way. If you find a way to tie him in, by all means do it.

Clothing: A tattered white cloak, made an off tan from the sun, rests around his neck. The hood is usually down at his shoulders, but it will occasionally find its way to the top of his head. Beneath the old outer garment lies a black, sleeveless shirt. An insignia bearing a silhouette of a wolf on a cliff and the crescent moon lies on the left chest area of the shirt, directly above the heart. Loose fitting khaki pants cover his legs, and black boots cover his feet. Around his ankles and wrists lie weighted bands, which can be removed for extra speed and to increase movement.
Eye Color: The eyes themselves are a stunning shade of amber, almost yellow, speckled with black spots. If enough time is spent staring into them, one would notice that they nearly create a negative of the night sky, but few are ever give the thought to look for this long.
Hair: A silver sheen covers his already grey hair. The differing grays create a layered effect to his hair, making the bottom of the eye length hair appear even longer. It is rarely "acceptable", as a mother would say, and is always being thrown about by a wind that only it seems to feel.
Personality: To be honest, it varies. He has moments where confidence seeps in, but for the most part he is timid and scared. The reasons for this are easily noted in his head, but those outside of it might not notice the second existence inside his mind that challenges everything he does. His road will be long, and he will continue to develop as he walks it.
