OK! Well this is just something for a bit of fun. The idea is someone posts a sentence or two (or three or four or however many you damn well wish). Then that is the writing prompt for the day and you post that here and others give you critique you on how you did and just sort of help you along.
The point of this is to help with writing AND! to help with creative instinct and ability.
OVER ALL RULES!
1. NO ADVERBS! You know. His voice sounded seriously. She sexily slipped into the room. DON'T TELL US, SHOW US! If someone in your mind does something seriously then just show us like this:
His eyes were slit and and had a look of pure confidence. His body was tight and and he was ready for anything. "Show me what you got!" he said leaning back and looking upon his opponent with a smart ass smirk.
2. Don't worry about grammar and misuse of words. That is what we are here for.
Here is the first prompt!
Take some of your favorite novels (or manga if you want to...). Write a story using five characters from the novels you chose.
RULES!
> Do not alter the character's personality. If the character is evil keep the character evil. (Evil can be many different things..) If the character is sarcastic keep that character as sarcastic as he/she/it is. (See below...)
> Do not make them say things that seem odd and unfitting to the characters. (Too many fanfics do this and it makes me want to wring the authors neck! LOL)
EXAMPLES:
-Put your favorite hero against your favorite villain and use supporting characters.
-Create a great romance between the characters.
-Put the characters in a different genre.
-Combine the universes or take characters from a similar world and write a story with that.
And since I started this on the brink of midnight then here will be todays! (you can still do ones form past days as long as you state which one you are doing)
Write a story where the characters are trying to find something. Their quest can be for an object, artifact or something intangible, such as self-acceptance.
Mine will be posted soon.
Also I think this should be mandatory! But since I can't make you tis just a suggestion...
Begin a reading journal. Note the last five books you’ve read and what you liked or disliked about them and why. List the elements you liked and why you liked them (Why did the style seem so new and intriguing/boring and long winded/ etc. Why did you choose to read the book?). Then make a list so you know what you do not want to do while writing.
