Title: A Word From Nall
Description: How To Shine Enough To Get To Main
Tokki - July 7, 2003 12:36 AM (GMT)
Imfamous Nall: lol, well you can put it to them like this IF They all post like gods in my mind then I may accept more then 2-3... but remind them please (And I'm gonna have to remind main) that good posts don't mean 23974783 paragraphs... good posts have meaning and foresight, remembering their characters emotions/personality and that of others and not being a solo hero, including the group
Remember that when you're posting, folks. In Main everyone has to work as a group. So you need to show that you can work well with a group of people! Posting quality is very important, but length doesn't necessarily mean it's good. That DOESNT mean very short posts are good. It means that no matter how long your post is, it needs to be VERY descriptive of 'foresight', personality, and emotion. PLEASE remember this and write well everyone!

Um... I just registered... I couldent find another place to post so i posted here... thats ok, isn't it? Um so what do i do now?

*starts taking notes* Insight... foresight... hmm... personality? who woulda thought...
descriptions... adjectives? what?
Anyway - Kenshi, did you fill out a Character Registration form?
If not, go into the Character Registration and do so promptly ^_^
If so, then you really oughta add the important information to your signature (see mine for quick reference, I guess.) Signature is under "My Controls" near the top of the page.
Other than that, if you've registered a character, once you fix your sig, just go into the BBS and post that you're looking for some allies for an adventure. When people respond, pick a set of Keywords (see Questions, Comments stuff in the OOC board) to go to, and then start writing in the Subplots board. :D
If I confused you, I apologize. Feel free to PM me with questions, and I'll help ya out. The mods tend to get a little busy at times. ^_^

WOW I have not heard from Nall in a while...hi Nall!!
Good tips...gotta work on the teamwork thingy...and if I am member 37, and plenty after me have made it into Main, then I must be doing something wrong..oh well thank's for the tips!
Wren - September 18, 2003 03:32 AM (GMT)
lol, Cypher, you do realize that the original post for that was July 6th, right? This thread is INCREDIBLY old, but this newbie-person here posted in it, which is why it's been revived. :P

You really oughta focus on gaining levels instead of sitting on your hands and asking these questions. But I guess I'll humor you with 1 simple answer.
He Was A Sword-Weiling Solider! (aka - a KNIGHT) and Knights Wear Armor! However, due to modern technology, agility and speed is obviously more important because a plate of armor wont stop their bullets and crap. (Note I said "THEIR" bullets, not "A" bullet - for those of you who would be willing to argue the integrity of mideval armor.) So Amano and whoever the other guy was opted for the shoulder pads, and i see them as a physical representation of his "Knighthood" in an age where knights by definition are nonexistant.
That and they look cool. ^_^ *Used To Be a Huge FF7 Buff, when he was in the 6-8th grades*

Also, if you’re having problems with school and you post at school in the free time you have. You won’t get yelled at for a short post, plus some of us are busy. And no one has to actually WORK with the group like a group of cliché heroes. Hell some of us act like neither, or do stuff that makes it look that way. But length and quantity mean crap really, QUALITY all the way.
What’s better, a post that‘s huge and takes a good 5 minutes to read, but doesn‘t really help ya at all. Or posts that you can read within a minute then spin your own off it with out spending a day thinking.?
Tirath - September 25, 2003 03:42 AM (GMT)
Hmmm....
To bad you guys didn't get in before we created a sub-plot board. I don't think I would be part of main if I had to go through what you guys do......
Yours Truly,
The Worst Poster On Main!
Wren - September 25, 2003 04:41 AM (GMT)
I don't know if I'd really want to go into Main. I was asked back near the end of my first month here, but it sounds very rigid, and at the same time - last i had checked the place was dead because Nall was gone. That and I felt a loyalty to the guild I'd made, but maybe that's just me.
Either way, Main Plot isn't something I'm in a big rush to get to, as presigious as it may be. ^_^
Sojuro - September 25, 2003 01:40 PM (GMT)
I dunno 'bout you guys, but i hopefully want to get to main(eventually), but things are goin so slow right now! I would have started a new quest ages ago, but i'm waiting for something...
Nikkio2003 - September 26, 2003 01:55 AM (GMT)
^^ Heh. I was literally less than a few DAYS off of when they made the main closed...*sighs pitifully* Guess I have impeccable timing, ne?
Well, I don't really think I'd fit into the main plot.. subplots more fun.^_^
The_End_Cypher - September 26, 2003 01:58 AM (GMT)
Hmmmm......
and why is that?
Wren - September 26, 2003 05:12 AM (GMT)
Well, frankly, you have to post more often because it has only one set of quests going on, and so if you don't post - you're either left behind, or the whole thing freezes up. That and it's Main P-L-O-T. It has story, written to come out a certain way, to some extent. Thus, though you're still free to post almost exactly as you'd like - certain things are beyond your control. It's also smaller than Subplots, and thus your chance to meet people and interact outside the quests is lower. Subplots is more free, and there's a wide variety of people always flowing in and out, causing for many "newbies", but always at the same time, leaving an interesting clientele.
And you're not required to post often for fear of being ditched in the quest. Subplots gives you a lot more freedom and there's a lot more people around here. But this isn't necessarily why Nikkio wouldn't fit into Main. It is, however, my opinion on why Subplots is more fun. Go write your own plot-based set of quests, if you like to write creatively, and you may agree. ^_^
