Title: Gamer Talk 2
blackmagenova - July 4, 2003 03:59 PM (GMT)
Hi everyone, well it seems that the first gamer talk was taken away, i believe it became to long so they cropped it. So let us begin another one, unless it is taken away, but let's begin.
Have any of you played Zone of the Enders, or the sequal ZOD: Second Runner, if you have what did you think of it?
Ishoni - July 5, 2003 01:45 AM (GMT)
ZOE 1 had a whiny imp for a main character. ZOE 2, Dingo cool, the whole not being able to leave Jehuty(ADA says it weird) is stupid. Though I do like ZOE 2 better though. This could be due to the getting over the cockpit( a cockpit is what is is) or the grab enemies and use them as shields.
Matsuei - July 5, 2003 01:56 AM (GMT)
I like both games. The first seemed kinda short tho and my tactics got me through most of the game. I would do a lot of flipping and boosting every which way to dodge and get in close to my opponents and then slash them. The same tactic works in 2nd runner. In 2nd runner Leo gets the Vic Viper?!? That's kinda messed but ok. My favorite frame would be Anubis. It has that transporting move that's just awesome. Jehuty is said to be the second best frame. Anywayz, if Idolo(From the Z.O.E. anime) was in there, it would kick arse. It was the first and to me the best, besides Anubis.
blackmagenova - July 5, 2003 04:16 AM (GMT)
I agree Ishoni that the cockpit thing is stupid, I'm still in the beginning of the game though can't remember where but so far it's good.
Feel free to right about any game everyone not just ZOE.
Lyra - July 5, 2003 06:08 PM (GMT)
Have no clue what that game even is... But I just got Max300 on my DDRMax  ...not that I can even SURVIVE through that song yet... I just wish Max had Dive and some of the other best songs from KonaMix... or that there was a decenct machine around town >.< all we have is DDR USA down at Boondocks... total crap.
Matsuei - July 5, 2003 06:32 PM (GMT)
Sucks for you Lyra. We have a konamix machine at the mall. I don't play it, I just like to listen to the songs XD. And I like playing Guilty Gear X. Chip Zanuff and Jam Kuradoberi. Their speed kicks just about anyone's arses. Ridge Racer 5 was a good game. I liked most of the cars. And the beginning scene. And Harvest moon was addicting to play. Farming XD
Anrui - July 5, 2003 11:01 PM (GMT)
Guilty Gear? You speak to one obsessed. ^.^ I have the original GG, GGX and GGX2 and I love ALL of them. I'm pretty much a Baiken player for the most part [Yay Kenshin-chick! XD]. Don't like how they toned her down in GGX/GGX2, but she WAS a bit cheesy in the first GG. That is, if you could unlock her as a character, which took me an age and a day. Still, I do my best with her. I also like playing Dizzy, Millia, Ky and Testament. *Especially* Testament. ::grin:: I'm a bit of a Testament fangirl. I also do pretty well with I-no and Bridget in GGX2. You played that one yet? If you haven't you should. It's got a story mode, which means endings...of a sort. They're pretty sketchy, but everyone has a few different story paths. I've yet to unlock them all, since some of them require playing characters I don't like.
Like Anji-Mito. ¬.¬;;
blackmagenova - July 11, 2003 02:29 AM (GMT)
Come on people there has to be some games to talk about.
Tribus - July 11, 2003 02:43 AM (GMT)
Metal Gear Solid 2;Sons of Liberty is a bad-ass game. I had alot of trouble trying to beat Vamp in Extreme mode.

Sure if Kenshin only had one arm. Chipp-Zanuf is greatness but they screwed up his look in XX. If you are like me and have played X and had press I think the X button to get his special safty guard costume then you should know what I'm talking about. SAFTYMAN AWAY!
Wren - July 11, 2003 07:44 AM (GMT)
I personally thought Guilty Gear X was crap compared to XX and the original Guilty Gear for PSX.
Kind-of that temporary low-point in the game's life. But oh well, can't be perfect all the time. At any rate, anybody here played SNK games? They're the best (i think)
Except when you put them on max difficulty... *grumbles about super-cheap / super-hard opponents in SNK games on max diff. setting.* <_<
Ishoni - July 11, 2003 04:40 PM (GMT)
How come .hack//MUTATION is so short. Once you get to the lambda server, poof, you beat the game. Is Magus really that hard? Innis was built up so much. He didn't even touch me!
Asura - July 11, 2003 06:29 PM (GMT)
Innis... was weak. I had no trouble with him at all. Magus was annoying at some points. Mostly after you Data Drain him he has that wood element attack that has that nasty tendency of killing everyone in the attack radius. Either way, I found him harder then Skieth simply because he made me waste my ressurects. Though Skieth made me use 99 Health Drinks... so I guess its about even.
Currently I'm playing old Mega Man X games on my SNES emulator. If anybody wants to give me any help for the final dungeon of MMX3 or fighting Sigma for MMX2, I'd be glad to accept it. On MMX2 I thought I could wait to collect all the Zero parts, so I had to fight Zero, who was quite annoying. Sliding down to fight Sigma with two HP isn't a good idea. Maybe I should have used a Sub Tank.
And I cannot comment on Guilty Gear at all. Mostly because I've never played it. I usually just play the Capcom fighting games. Like Rival Schools. And I play Tekken too. I manage to annoy everyone at my household when I use Jun simply because I know so many different variations of the White Heron dance it just makes them want to drop dead. Then they get killed by it. Once, I beat my dad using 8 people on team battle with only 1 person. Very fun.
Zhirin - July 11, 2003 06:50 PM (GMT)
What kind of help do you need on MMX3?
Oh, I hust remembered that I wanted to ask if anyone has played Chrono Cross?
Asura - July 11, 2003 08:11 PM (GMT)
I played Chrono Cross. Beat if for that matter. I like Chrono Trigger better still (though I love Scars Left By Time). Ask me if you need any help, though I can't guarantee help because I haven't played it in a while.
And I need help for the final dungeon of MMX3 (Doppler's Lab) and MMX2's fights against Sigma.
Zhirin - July 11, 2003 08:35 PM (GMT)
Are you stuck in a certain part of the lab?
What is the year span difference between Chrono Trigger and Chrono Chross?
Terror - July 11, 2003 08:38 PM (GMT)
I've played Chrono Cross too. Have two copies...I first got it used..Then the disc screwed up on me, so I had to buy a new one.(That wasn't used.) @_@ I had all the star levels...Until...The Dragon Relics...>< I messed up big on that part...On the ship..to the mutant place, I killed all the monsters, saw the song. Ect. Ect. I talked to Nikki dragon roar, I ingorned it. Black Dragon still asleep. Its the only dragon relic I need!!!! X_x I got the two Einlanzers!
Terror - July 11, 2003 08:40 PM (GMT)
Chrono Cross is 20 years after the events of Chrono Trigger.
Wren - July 11, 2003 09:05 PM (GMT)
There is / was a topic on Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger floating around the Gen. Discussion board. You could go look there if something's going on. Though I don't know if it would help any.
^_^
Zhirin - July 11, 2003 09:07 PM (GMT)
I've been been thinking about getting Chrono Cross but it is kind of hard to find around where I live. So should I spend the time looking for it? It seems like a great game but I need someone's opinion.
Terror - July 11, 2003 10:00 PM (GMT)
I think you should get it. The game is just awesome for ps1. Its only my opinon though.
Asura - July 11, 2003 10:13 PM (GMT)
I personally would pass up Chrono Cross for many other games now that I've seen it. I personally recommending getting Wild Arms 2. Its very good. And keen. And such. But Chrono Cross has music by Yasunori Mitsuda and fifty plotless characters... your choice I guess.
Remidore - July 11, 2003 11:50 PM (GMT)
Personally, I don't really like Chrono Cross too much. The music is good, but the most of the character designs arn't "WOW", there are 50 plotless characters (as said earlier), and they tried TOO HARD to make it a sequal to the legendary classic, Chrono Trigger, even though it has almost no relationships...Personally, I would suggest the Wild Arms series (again suggested earlier) or Suikoden 1 or 2...if you can find them...Or just go with the Final Fantasy series ^_^ .
Zhirin - July 12, 2003 12:40 AM (GMT)
Thanks.
And I have been playing the Final Fantasy series. I am currently working on FFX. After that I will start Final Fantasy lll for the SNES, then I should be done. Well at least until they bring the next one. On another note I have been hearing alot of different comments about FFX. Some people say it is blasphemous to the series mostly because of the sphere grid. What do you guys think?
Tribus - July 12, 2003 12:45 AM (GMT)
I thought the sphere grid system was a good addition to the Final Fantasy seris. I really hope that they reintergrade that into later additions into Final Fantasy. My little brother hates it though (he's not too smart).
Terror - July 12, 2003 12:52 AM (GMT)
FFX's Sphere System reminded me of Xenosaga's Ether System...They both seemed kinda similar but they were very different...
I wanna play Star Ocean 3!!! :woot: Anyone heard of it?
Zhirin - July 12, 2003 12:54 AM (GMT)
I am pretty sure they will considering that one of the next games in the series is going to be a sequel to FFX. That's another thing that ticked off some of the hardcore players.
Asura - July 12, 2003 01:13 AM (GMT)
Okay... first of all there will still be no main line sequels to FFX. There is FFX-2 though... lets not go into that. I haven't seen it yet, but the music is done by the same people who did the Bouncer and not Nobuo Uematsu. And we all know how bad The Bouncer's music was. I'm more looking forward to FFTA and FFXI. More Tactics and online.
Zhirin - July 12, 2003 01:30 AM (GMT)
Actually from what I hear about FFX-2, it takes place after FFX. And the main characters are Yuna, Rikku, and some new person who's name I can't remember. So since it takes place after FFX and it has some of the same characters it can be considered a sequel.
Asura - July 12, 2003 01:49 AM (GMT)
It IS a sequel, but not a main line sequel. And its can't really be considering a good main line game. It doesn't even have Nobuo Uematsu working on the music at all! So disgraceful!
Though this is good for the fans who want an FF7 sequel or something like that. Means better chance of a sequel for them. All I really want to see though is an FF7 sequel which follows the Turks exploits.
Zhirin - July 12, 2003 01:58 AM (GMT)
I haven't heard of any sequel for FF7 but I have read that FFXI is going to be an online game. That should put a new twist on Final Fantasy games.

I don't really think the sphere grid was all that bad. It was just a good number of people REALLY changed their characters, completly screwing them up.
Now about that Star Ocean 3, :D I want to play that too!! Another suggestion for a good series. ^_^ Do you know anything of what it's about?
Terror - July 12, 2003 02:45 AM (GMT)
I wasn't saying it was bad...It just reminded me of it..You know? Anyway, Star Ocean 3 does look like a good game...But I haven't played a single Star Ocean game...(Blast Enix for not advertising in America.)
Rion - July 12, 2003 04:43 AM (GMT)
Damn not in the u.s. eh.Well I was at a game exchange store and they had hella import games.I want ta soul calibur2 or FFX-2
Matsuei - July 12, 2003 05:10 AM (GMT)
PSX!!! PSX!!!.......sorry, but i want to get it. No, i'm not talking about the old playstation, I'm talking about the new sony system called Playstation Crossover(X = crossover) It's the best...PS2, T.V. tuner, DVD recorder, 120GB hard drive, and a broadband internet connection. It can play games, DVDs, record tv shows, download music and videos from the internet, and can burn custom CD and DVDs!!! (Seriously, look for it around March 2004.) Anywayz, this is :spam: and i'm sorry.
Final Fantasy X-2?!? I like that game as much as want it. I have ta see Yuna and Rikku....Payne.....I don't know...she has that squall/cloud look to her. But Yuna and Rikku are...umm...say...look great!! Soul Caliber 2 aslo looks like a promising game. I want to play as link, but he's on the gamecube version X_x. Let's see...what else...Chaos Legion looks like a good game. And the game I want the most is Silent Line: Armored Core. There's actually a cockpit view!! Plus you can transfer data from AC3 to Silent Line. Fire Emblem for GBA is another. Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits. I need to rent that sometime....
Zhirin - July 12, 2003 05:39 AM (GMT)
I thougth they would never come out with Fire Emblem. Well now I have another game to look forward to.
Wren - July 12, 2003 05:44 AM (GMT)
Asura, unlike you - I have seen the game, and the music - though not done by Uematsu, is still good. Just because they didn't use their 'legendary composer' doesn't mean the music is bad. People can change in a 3 year period, and you sit there and say that the music is bad because its not by Uematsu, but at the same time you applaud the music in Chrono Cross, which isn't by Uematsu either. Make up your mind, is non-Uematsu stuff good or bad? And - again, how can you know anything about the plot without seeing or reading anything about the game itself? It takes place 4 years after the events of FFX. I won't talk anymore about the plot because I wouldn't want to ruin anything for anybody who may not have seen it for themselves. Though they did remove a lot of the characters and their outfits are a lot skimpier, as well, it doesn't look that bad. I may have narked on it before, but I think I'm going to buy it when it comes out, if not pre-order it once I pay off my OUTBREAK pre-order. Don't bash a game you'ven't played or read up on, or seen with your own eyes. It's people like that which kinda irritate me.
To support Remidore, Suikoden is a very cool series ^_^ It has lots of characters, but a majority of them are introduced into the story line, and a lot of them have an actual place in the plot, unlike Chrono Cross...
>>Flaming Asura mainly because I don't want him bashing games he knows nothing about. He said so himself that he hasn't seen it, so he shouldn't dicuss it intelligently in such a manner. :nono:
Remidore - July 12, 2003 09:38 PM (GMT)
Well, Terror, Star Ocean 2 DID come to America. But I was really dissappointed that the first Star Ocean didn't come to America *sob*. Star Ocean 3 does have a release date for America....but I don't remember it  . I hope they didn't cancel it <_< .
Thanks for your support on the Suikoden series Wren. ^_^
strato - July 13, 2003 02:21 AM (GMT)
If I may, I'm going to start up the .hack//Mutation topic again and ask if everybody else had to fight the Red Dragons, Giants, and Hell Dogs that Innis spawned because I saw the movie of it when I beat the game but I never had to fight them.
I saw some pictures of FFX-2 and it looked kind of cool although I didn't look at all of them.
It would be great if there was a FFVII sequel but Sephiroth wouldn't be in it and what would it be about anyways? I know someone said it could be from the Turks point of view of FFVII but didn't just about all of them die before the game ended anyways? And that would make a bad ending for the sequel if it was their story during FFVII.
sabin_2002 - July 13, 2003 06:18 AM (GMT)
Yes Final Fantasy X-2 looks cool I mean your clothes change as you change jobs and each character has their own look which is cool. I can't wait till it is released in the US so I can go get it .
But I don't really think they should make a sequal to anything but Final Fantasy X because that is the only one they really leaves me lost in the end. I mean Tidus jumps off the airship thingy and then it's over after Yuna speaks to all the people of Spira and she still didn't look happy to me.
They just need to let that woman have some fun and stop bugging her. I know that with her job come alot of responsibility but come on everyone deserves a break once and a while and it seems like she never gets one.
