Mirelle Tsurugu - July 25, 2005 04:08 AM (GMT)
The cliched phrase "it was a dark and stormy night" was actually fitting this time around. The field was drenched under the wrath of a thunderstorm, light flashing across the sky every few seconds. The terrain was uneven, hills and debris making it difficult to see clear to the horizon. Thunder cracked loud enough to deafen any player with their volume control set at maximum. It was not the most perfect place for a duel, in Mirelle's condition.

The Long Arm huddled on the windward side of a particularly large hill. She brushed a strand of waterlogged hair out of her eyes and supressed a shiver of cold. It was temperate enough, but the water posed a threat for a temperature drop. "God, I hate rain," she whined to the empty field. "Why is it that every field I choose is either in the middle of getting drowned or is like a deep freezer?" She wrapped her arms around herself. "Next time, I'm going for a warm field."

The girl glanced nervously around at the field, half-expecting to see Hacorie dashing at her. Three duels and already paranoia was setting in. "Next time, pick on a lowbie," she grumbled. Yes, she was seriously starting to wonder what her fixation with fighting high level players was. "Sheesh, have I got a death wish or what?" She shook her head and laughed bitterly.

"Well, time to go." Mirelle adjusted her grip on her Wooden Spear and tensed. Whatever was about to happen, she'd face it head-on.

Hacorie - July 27, 2005 04:36 PM (GMT)
Three golden rings dropped a Heavy Blade down in the city where everything started, Mac Anu. This city brought back so many heart filled memories that the player just stood in awe thinking of the past. The past, when he was once free to move about "The World" with no fears. Now though, Hacorie had to be on guard around every single corner. There was no telling when a hacker or an administrator could pop up. So far, the administrators had treated Hac and the other players like him like friends. This could all be an act though. Hac did not know what to think about it. There were too many times when he wanted to just log out and forget everything.

Well enough time reminiscing on the past, I have a duel to get to. I cannot keep her waiting any longer than I should. Mirelle, let us have fun with this. Now to find that flashmail where she listed the field. Ah, here it is. Delta Sleepless Survivor's Walkway. The name in itself was quite ironic for Hac since he was like a sleepless survivor ever having to endure this game like it was reality. He had to keep himself alive at all costs. He was a duelist at heart though, and nothing or no one could stop him from dueling people.

Lately Hacorie had been out of the dueling ‘business’. Ever since his loss in the tourney he had not dueled even once. The scent of defeat still hung around every time Hacorie wanted to duel someone, but now it seemed to have dissipated into the air. The Heavy Blade quickly held onto his Oceanic Aura as he walked slowly and steadily up to the Chaos Gate. His hand started to shake as he drew near it. The vortex seemed to have a strange effect on him. Hacorie knew it was just nervousness of entering a field for a friendly match. Even if the character was 21 levels lower than himself. Contemplating on what the field looked like, Hacorie slowly thought the words of the field.

Delta Sleepless Survivor's Walkway

There was a distinct difference in sceneries now. Mac Anu was a lively, fun loving town with sunshine all day long. This place was a deserted field with rain pouring out of the sky making it hard to see. The droplets, one by one, hit the ground, dancing in a pattern unseen and unnoticeable by human eyes and ears. Only the clouds could predict where the next raindrop hit. In a matter of seconds, Hacorie’s Robe was completely drenched in water. Smiling, the Heavy Blade reached to his side to draw the Oceanic Aura. It was not there though. An administrator had purged the field where no hacks, weapons or other, could be used. As the rain continued to terpsichore to the nonexistent music, thunder and lightning made themselves known to whoever was in the field. First, came a crashing sound of the thunder erupting in a glorious shaking of everything. Following the loud extravagant noise came a bright flash of lightning that struck a way off. This one bolt did light up the field a bit. It was just enough for Hacorie to make out a figure in the distance, most likely Mirelle.

Walking steadily toward the Long Arm, Hacorie equipped some equipment he wanted to try out in this duel and see what it could do. Edging even closer to Mirelle, Hac still drew no weapon. He did not want to show hostile intentions until the duel really began and each player knew the other was around. Thinking back on the cleansed field effect, Hacorie put his hands around his mouth making a funnel like shape. He opened his mouth right after and yelled at the girl testing a theory. “Mirelle, are you ready for this duel?” Hac was right. The effects of twilight were somehow discontinued in this field. That meant he could talk again which was a relief.

Taking no time, Hacorie took down his blue good on the top of his cloak. He revealed his almost glowing blond hair which was already drenched since the cloak could only hold so much water in it. Hacorie shook his head like a dog and got the excess water out of his hair for a moment so he could see perfectly. His glowing blue eyes were still fixated on his opponent though. She was a clan member, but everyone had their tricks and some people were more ruthless than others. Taking all of this into consideration, Hacorie finally drew a weapon, the Steeler.

"Mirelle, are you ready for this duel?"

Mirelle's ear perked up at the sound of Hac's voice. The Long Arm scrambled out from her hiding place to see him. She smiled faintly at the leader of Fatal Exception, glad to see an old friend again after so long. "You haven't changed a bit, Ha-chan," she yelled. She rubbed the back of her neck and winced as another thunder clap sounded. Just as long as nobody got struck by lightning, this field would be pretty safe.

Mirelle couldn't help herself. She laughed openly as Hac shook the extra water out of his hair. He just looked so funny doing it, really. She sighed and leaned against her spear for support. "Geez, I've been gone too long, eh Ha-chan?" The girl winked at her dueling partner and held her hand out. "Let's have a good fight today, eh?"

She wasn't about to let him know what she was planning. This hilly terrain was a blessing in disguise. Since Mirelle was a bit quicker than the bulky Heavy Blade, she could zip up and down the hills a lot better. But the rain... she wasn't too sure about the rain. But what the heck. If she got killed, it wasn't any big deal. Besides, she could handle herself just fine!

...couldn't she?

"Let's have a good fight today, eh?" Mirelle said to the Heavy Blade as she outstretched her hand as a sign of what seemed like good gesture. Not trusting a handshake since what Zavier did, Hacorie hesitantly put his own hand out. Grasping Mirelle’s hand, the Heavy Blade shook his wrist up and down gently. The hand shake was complete and now the duel could officially start. Smiling at the Long Arm, Hacorie let go of her hand and jumped backwards a few feet. He did this a couple of times until there was a large amount of space between him and Mirelle. “Yes Mirelle, let’s have a good fight. I want to see what you can come up with.” Hac finally yelled back at her to reply to her previous question.

Taking notice in his surroundings, Hac noticed that hills were everywhere. He could easily use these to his advantage. Mirelle maybe more agile than himself in some aspect, but Hac could still hide behind one of the large things and ambush her as she came up it. Also, since there was a great level difference, and Hacorie could run almost if not as fast as the Long Arm. She could not get away. Hacorie had everything planned out in his hand of what he would do later in the duel. The only thing he was missing was what to do at the beginning. The Heavy Blade did not know if he should attack first or just toy around with her. There were so many possibilities from his standpoint.

“Ap Ruem!”

A blue glyph shot out from Hac’s body and then hit the ground widening a circle around him. The strange symbols from the rune started to illuminate brighter soon after making a wall of blue. As the spell and light disappeared, Hac’s armor, weapons, and skin started to have a the same light. This light though was not as illuminate. Grasping the hilt of his sword tight, Hac raised the Steeler in the air and shouted another spell as the first ended.

“Ap Corma!”

This spell was a little different. The color was a light green. Everything else happened the same as the last though, since they were both strengthening spells. As the spell hit the ground and disappeared from sight Hacorie felt his spell casting powers boost. This was great since the power of Ap Corma and Ap Ruem combined with a water spell could make massive damage. Now all that was left to do was attack Mirelle with the spell. Hacorie did not move closer to her though. Instead he stayed in the same spot where he had jumped back to. He did not want to rush in and attack, it could be lethal since he did not know what exactly Mirelle was planning.

Mirelle Tsurugu - August 1, 2005 04:59 AM (GMT)
Mirelle watched Hac with an impassive face. Finally, a grin crept its way onto her face. The Long Arm cracked her knuckles and yanked her spear out of the ground. "All righty then," she laughed. "Let's get this started, Ha-chan!" Without taking her eyes off of her opponent, she yanked her remianing Knight's Blood out of her inventory. She winked at Hac before uncorking the bottle and downing the contents in one gulp. She shuddered in disgust before tossing the crystal bottle over her shoulder. "I'm ready now," she called.

Already Mirelle could feel the item kicking in. Her stomach churned nauseatingly, threatening to knock the slim girl over at any moment. But at the same time, her skin seemed to be hardening slightly. She felt a lot more durable now. She could probably take a few more smacks than normal and still be alive. Mirelle glanced down at her hand and was surprised to see a faint white aura surrounding her player character.

"Heh... never noticed that before." The girl threw Hac a quick kiss before scrambling up the side of a nearby hill. She paused at the top to drape a piece of paper around her neck. It seemed to have markings on it. She paused for a moment to salute Hacorie. "See you later, Ha-chan!" Then she sped off faster than normal. "Catch me if you can," she taunted. "I promise, it won't be easy!"

"Too bad I had to break into my items," Mirelle thought to herself. "Oh well, it's not like I was using them for something anyway!"

Hacorie - August 6, 2005 03:55 AM (GMT)
Hacorie was not going to let the Long Arm out of his sight. As soon as she rushed to the top of a hill, Hacorie was already on the move. As she reached the top, he reached the base. A strike of lightning lit up the field as it showed Mirelle placing an object around her neck with a clear imprint of a rune on it. Soon after, Mirelle seemed to speed off faster than the last time she ran. Maybe it is because now she is not scaling up the mountain, but maybe, just maybe, that item she used was a Speed Charm. If so, I need to get up this hill quickly.

Once he reached the top, Hacorie saw Mirelle was in sight for a spell or spells. He slowly whispered the words of his first attack spell of the duel. “Rue Kruz...” were the words that were emitted from the Heavy Blade dressed in blue. A glowing glyph left his palm and shot out for Mirelle’s body. If the spell contacted right, it would first summon many ice p articles and surround her, ensnaring her in his devious plot. After that, the ice would begin to flow around her and enclose on her. Finally, the shards would strike at her body one after the other until the damage was dealt. Since Hacorie also had Ap Ruem still in effect, the spell would be almost twice as powerful. To increase the damage of his water spell even further, Hac made sure the BL Yokohama and his Water Magic were equipped.

Before the spell did its course though, Hacorie summoned another glyph from his palm. This one’s purpose was quite obvious once the spell was cast. “Ani Zot....” Hacorie whispered. Not that he needed to for right as he said the words, a billowing roar was echoed throughout the field followed by the lighting of the sky. If this spell worked as it should, the darkness energy should strike up right as Mirelle was trapped. Thus creating her no way to escape at all since darkness was shooting up form underneath her and ice was attacking from all sides. Everything was blocked, but Mirelle would most likely not die by the onslaught, just severely hurt. Hoping his plan would do its devious course, Hacorie watched on from the hill.

The rain continued to patter around him as he cocked his sword on his shoulder looking around the field to put his next action into play. This field was perfect for many ploys the Heavy Blade could create for Mirelle. He smiled briefly and then turned away from the glyphs and waited for them to finish. "Come on Mirelle, show me what you can do. I do not want to attack from this far, close hand combat is more my style, so come on..." Hacorie said under his breath as he tilted his head upward and stared into the rain. Small bits of water slowly hit his hidden face and slowly crept down and dropped from his chin.

The feel of rain hitting skin is so soothing...

Mirelle Tsurugu - August 9, 2005 03:36 AM (GMT)
Mirelle's feet suddenly refused to move in mid-stride. "Wha-?" That was all she managed to say before the magic spells kicked in. A chill suddenly enveloped the surrounding area, turning the falling rain into ice crystals. The cold wrapped its way around her legs, freezing the Long Arm in place. Suddenly the ice plunged at her, cutting her again and again. "Agh! Damn, it hurts!" She threw her arms over her head and hunched down, minimzing the chance of something vital getting pierced. "Not fair," she whined.

At the same time, a strange wind began to blow from underneath the ice. Mirelle glanced down in time to catch the first bit of Ani Zot right in the face. The blow sent the girl reeling like a punching bag. The ice still held her in place, making it impossible for her to do anything except ride the spell out. Finally the ice shattered, freeing her.

The Long Arm was in bad shape. Cuts marred Mirelle all over her body and arms. One nasty cut was dripping blood down the girl's face. Her left arm looked like nothing more than a mass of hamburger meat. And her carefully-woven braid was coming undone, strands of turquoise hair dangling in her eyes. "Ugh... man, I hurt." She managed to crack a pained smile. "Understatement of the century right there!"

Wincing at every movement, Mirelle raised her spear in the air and called, "Repth!" A soft white light filtered down the hilt of her weapon and bathed her wounds. While some of the smaller ones vanished compeltely, the girl still looked worse for wear. She toosed her head and smiled thinly. "Oh, it's on now, Ha-chan," she snarled.

She charged at her leader and leapt into the air. Just before her feet hit the ground, she began to spin like a dancer. "Take this, Ha-chan! Double Sweep !" She launched into her attack, desperation evident on her face. If she was going down, she'd go down with a bang!
