Well, I haven't been around much, but after the last few weeks I really need to vent.
It all started on St. Patrick's Day. He is my new enemy. I was called into the deans office at school and told that since I had not filled out the proper paperwork in time concerning my absence from class I would have to be dismissed from the school. I was supposed to graduate this year.
Then around that same time I was made aware that since our company was building a brand new restaurant, I was going to have to work anywhere from 60-80hrs a week in order to get it up and running. I am on salary and they refused to consider the option of paying me more than a 45hr-a-week salary. I of course told them rather politely that I would not be willing to put in that many hours for an indefinite period of time without proper compensation. I let them know officially that I would be looking for another job and when I found it I would give them two weeks notice. Instead they replaced me a week later and told me that I couldn't work at my store any longer. Of course they offered me a demotion to another location so that they wouldn't have to pay me any unemployment. However, the next day they called me to let me know that they had no hours in the store I agreed to transfer to. End of employment. I still can't find a job.
The thing that put me over was a phone call that I received yesterday. One of my good friends from my old restaurant was killed in a boating accident Saturday. He was a great guy that everyone loved. He will be very missed.
