You are a proud member of Troop 170 out of St. James Church in New Bedford MA. You are also an 8th grader at St. James School. You come form a fairly well off family, and live in a large 5 bedroom at 675 Hawthorne St. Mom and Dad always work, but you have a nice "nanny" named Celeste.

You heard of Dr. Phineus World's contest like everyone else did who lives in the city. Dr. World is a Billionare. He is also a little nuts. Having no heirs, he is having a contest to give away his money. You entered, partly as a joke, partly to show your parents you are worth something. You always expected to be chosen, but it still surprised you to see the letter:

Mr. Hendersen,

It is the distinct pleasure of Dr. Phineus World to invite you to a formal party on (weekend date for the coming weekend), at his estate, Ry'leth Manor. RSVPs are required (Information about RSVP'ing follows). The purpose of the praty is for Mr. World to choose his heir. It is invitation only. We expect you there.

It is time. You have a week before the contest begins. I would RSVP first. Other than that, between school and preparing, the weekend will be her in no time.

I return the RSVP, making extra sure the envelope is stamped and properly addressed.

You call and a man with a British accent answers the phone. "Dr. World's residence, how may I help you?"

"Good day, sir. My name is Bucky Henderson. I have received an invitation to Dr. World's Party. I can't believe he invited me!"

"Yes, I will put you down as attending. The party is 7PM sharp, and is formal. Bring your invitation. Is there anything else I can help you with??"

"No, sir. Thank you for your time."

I hang up the phone.
Can I assume mom and dad are at work, but Celeste (nice nanny) is at home?

Yes.

I run thru the house until I find Celeste.

Winded, I ask her, "Can you please give me a ride to Ry'leth Manor this coming weekend? On (the day of the party) at 7:00? I've been invited to Dr. World's party!!!!! I really want to go!! You just gotta give me a ride, PLEASE say 'yes'!!!!!"

"Of Course Dear, you got into that contest, WONDERFUL!" She gives you a big hug.

"WOW, thanks! This is soo cool!!!!"

I Currently, I plan to spend the remainder of the week attending school. In the evenings, I'll be working on homework. Any other free time will be spent finishing up my "Local Government and Politics" merit badge.

You live as normally as possible for the remainder of the week. Saturday rolls around quickly.

I put on my Boy Scout uniform when I wake up, it being the nicest/most formal clothing I own (at least, in my mind).

"Celeste, what time do we have to leave to be at the party by 7:00? I can't be late."

6:30PM

"Great, I'll be ready!"

You leave for the party, Celeste driving. You get to the neighborhood in Dartmouth that the manor is on. You get onto Russel Mills Rd. and the place is a zoo. Media and onlookers line the side of the road. You reach the adress and drive into the long driveway. Media line both sides and immediatly TV cameras and flashbulbs go off. Celeste drives up to a well dressed man and tells him she is dropping you off. He opens you door. Celeste gives you a kiss and says "Good Luck."

You are quicly ushered out of the car, and immediately the media set upon you. Cameras and Microphones are stuffed in you face.

"SIR! CARE TO COMMENT?" "SIR, YOUR NAME?" "HOW DO YOU FEEL BEING ONE OF THE LUCKY FEW!"

Scared, and perhaps even wishing I hadn't come at all, I rush to the door.

The Usher lead you to the front door. You come in a large foyer, and immediatley turn left and enter a large library where half a dozen or so toher are.

You wake up in a dark 10 x 10' room, on a bed. You are dressed in a Black T-Shirt, camouflaged cargo pants, and military style boots. There is a back pack at the base of the bed. There is a door, directly across form the bed, with a large manilla envelope tacked to it.

(Oh by the way, you can raise you level)

**I listen for any sound. I figure that everybody else must be in a similar room, not too far from here.**

**Regardless of whether or not I hear anything, my next action is to check the backpack.**

You hear crickets and an owl hoot

The back pack contains the following:
- A Maglite (Large Black Steel Flashlight like police carry)
- A Gerber Multi-tool and case (Pliers, several screwdrivers, a knife, saw, can opener, and bottle open, in one tool)
- 20 Power Bars
- A full 1 gal Canteen
- A bottle of Water Purification Pills
- A Pen
- A Small Pad
- A wind/water resistant fleece lined jacket (Camouflage)
- Water resitant gloves
- Compass
- Watch (it is 3:00AM)

The Contest begins now in Earnest. You are on a island. Somwhere on this island is a cell phone. The first contestant to reach the cell phone and dial 9, will be the winner of the contest. Good Luck and Godspeed

*(What is the temperature like?) If need be, I put on the jacket and gloves. I take the flashlight and compass in hand, and put on the pack pack. I look outside.*

(50 degrees)

You exit this recenly built 10 x 10 hovel. The door open to the north, and to a large expanse of ocean. It is fairly dark (small crescent moon). Behind (West through East) strethces a thick forest, that steadliy rise to the east.

((are there any footprints in the sand? can i tell how i got into the hovel, or how many people brought me in? has anybody been by my hovel?))

You make a search for footprints, and there are mutiple foot prints. They lead to the shoreline, where there is a divot fron a boat. You think maybe 2 or three people.

((Bucky is 13 and scared. this is not what he signed on for. he just wanted to attend that swanky party.))

**if i can't see any, maybe i can signal them? if i gather up some wood and ball up some of the paper sheets, maybe i can start a signal fire by striking the multi tool against the flashlight (boy scout inginuity)**

It take you about 15 minutes to start a fire. You see no other sign of life (besides crickets)

**BUILD UP that signal fire. I'd love to find Pinky or Owl (they seemed least psychotic). least wanting to find Michael Henderson and Sherry (they're scary). Of course, anybody will do. Can i find a good source of wood? dry drift wood? dead tree limbs?

Plent of wood around, you take another 1/2 hour and build a very large blaze

Definitely still in New England. The water is defintey salt, and ocean. Conifer trees. 50 Degrees.

You finish building a large fire and 4:00Am rolls around, still no sign of life.

(is 4:00 sunrise? which direction does the beach go in?)

You estimate 5:30 the sun will be up, 5:00 it will begin. The beach goes East to West.

** I will wait. Hopefully, somebody will find me. If not, I'd feel safer exploring in the daylight. **

((How is the hovel constructed? Is it wood? concrete? or lashed logs ie gilligan's island? if its the later, i'd love to get some rope if i could partially deconstruct it.))

The hovel is recent contruction. Exposed sheetrock, and a tin roof.
