Title: OOC Outpost I
Description: Group I OOC General Discussion

Enigma Zero - September 13, 2004 08:41 PM (GMT)
Decided this was a pretty snazzy idea and it keeps the storyline content form taking of the thread in the Battle Forum so the Group II potentials have a chance to put the finishing touches on their characters easier.

This thread is for myself and members of Group I only, other posts will either be deleted or moved to the Spectaror's Booth.

This thread is intended for OOC conversations reguarding the game and times when you all will need to converse with one another to come up with a decision.

Ok, so lemme get this ball started. I have to say that by your designs I admit I knew what some of you would choose Ring-wise, but I was suprised by some of your decisions. There is no right or wrong answer...I was just trying to guess and see how many I could get right. :D

So far the RP is nice and I see no problem with it, but in the future let's try not to drop 20-30 posts(random number) inbetween GM content. Due to the nature of these forums there will be times when this game will pause slightly due to the real life schedule of one of the participants and we'll just have to wait patiently.

For this situation I am allowing a decent amount of RP because the entire process is probably going to take about 10 minutes game time. When we hit combat, however, the duration between rounds (I set up, you react, I reply with results) will literally be seconds...so there isn't time to talk about regional politics or your reoccuring debate on Magic vs. Steel. ;)

Naruko - September 13, 2004 08:42 PM (GMT)
Hey everyone, and do you have have a charracter in this Enigma?

Enigma Zero - September 13, 2004 08:46 PM (GMT)
Basically, I am every character that you are not. I am the Shinsei at the momment. Later I could be a lowly peasant farmer, an attacking wolf, or even The Emperor. My duty is naration so I must cover every role that is not the 6 of you.
____________________________________________________________________

Update: Voltei brings up an interesting point in the last post about the whole wind flute thing. Casters have the ability to call what we refer to as "fodder spells" when it suits them. Basically, if you have a spell of a certain element then you can experiment with minor effects under that element. The only real rule to this is simple, it cannot be useful in any way, shape, or form.

You can, however, attempt to do something useful with that element's power (and fail miserably I might add) in your spare time and this would be considered research...which could prove successful later down the line.

Example: Tomo has spells of the water type. During the situation he you are all in now he could sit down, like Dusk, and attempt to call up a tiny litttle water twister from some of the precipitation in the cave. If he kept this up several adventures down the road he could gain the ability to summon a medium sized typhoon of which he would have some control over, but would require a source of water....several more adventures down the road he could call up a massive typhoon from the water molocules in the surrounding area and have complete control over it.

Note: Fodder spells should be limited in thier expression though because if you keep inventing new ones you will never get any better at them.

Naruko - September 13, 2004 09:04 PM (GMT)
So how would I do Void?

Enigma Zero - September 13, 2004 09:37 PM (GMT)
Actually, none of you officially have your Rings yet. In the few minutes while you were all making your declarations you have done only that...made a declaration. Dusk can play with the wind because his spells are Wind/Air based.

When the time comes I will explain Void, because believe me, it's a doosey. ;)

Also, to all you melee out there, I will explain various nonmagical things that you might do to gain benefit from your Rings as well. Although a good portion of the actual benefits and hinderances of the Rings is a secret to be uncovered...there are basic things that the people of Rokugan, even though most of them are not nearly as blessed as you 6 are in this area, know about this.

Well, i think on days like this then there will be alot of posts. I had no school today, so I was on the computer alot. And my brother got on the other computer for quite a bit of time too. Tommorow, we have school again lol and Im sure things would calm down a bit. But im just guessing, who knows.

Pilaf - September 13, 2004 11:12 PM (GMT)
I got in only one post this morning, and now there are three pages... sorry if I held everyone up <_< .

[OOC]fire might not have been the best choice for me, but it's my fascination.

It would appear to me that Fire was an excellent choice for you. The only wrong choice is one that does not suit you at all. ;)

I also think it's nice to see how the characters interact, especially when Zeus called out his distaste for the magical arts.

Then the two resident spellcasters had some issues of their own with people who believe might is right.

I can sense a slight division that may or may not break the team apart at one point.

Pilaf - September 14, 2004 02:07 AM (GMT)
there are three casters... >_> .

Voltei - September 14, 2004 02:11 AM (GMT)
You didn't complain though to Zeus though. :P

Pilaf - September 14, 2004 02:17 AM (GMT)
*ahem* and how do you suppose I do that?

Voltei - September 14, 2004 02:30 AM (GMT)
A look of distaste, accidentally bumping into Zeus after he said that...

Just use your imagination.

Pilaf - September 14, 2004 02:34 AM (GMT)
bah, I like zues, he picked fire.

NonVip - September 14, 2004 03:15 AM (GMT)

NonVip - September 14, 2004 04:22 AM (GMT)

EDIT: KK i read it, let the journy begin!

Enigma Zero - September 14, 2004 04:48 AM (GMT)
My appologies to those people online, but I have been called into work effective immediately. It's probably something stupid that could be fixed with a network reset or something, but even if it is then I will still have to waste the time driving to and from the assignment. I should *crosses fingers* be back on and have this completed by the morning before most of you come back online anyways. Again, sorry about this, but it's completely out of my control. :(

Voltei - September 14, 2004 04:50 AM (GMT)
We understand Enigma Zero. ^_^

I mean we wouldn't even be in the world of your creation if it weren't for you, right? ;)

Pilaf - September 14, 2004 05:01 AM (GMT)
yeah... it's O.K.

Voltei - September 14, 2004 05:16 AM (GMT)
^ Note to Pilaf: In the RPG, I'm Dusk Kyrath, not Voltei. :P

In your last post, you were talking to Voltei.

Just a minor nitpicky thing.

Pilaf - September 14, 2004 05:18 AM (GMT)
I'll say dusk now, it's annoying when some of your characters are called voltei and some are called dusk...

Voltei - September 14, 2004 05:22 AM (GMT)
Voltei is already a thief and a mod here. :P

Besides, I thought it was cute how I put Dusk and Dawn together.

No problem. I have school in the mourning. Ill be outta here at 7AM, at this rate i dont think im going to sleep tonight.

Malach - September 14, 2004 01:15 PM (GMT)
Moved here by Modly Powers.

"Well, that was entertaining, anyone else here hungry?"

My apologies Malach, but I was not ready for you just yet. Read below for details. -Enigma

Enigma Zero - September 14, 2004 03:24 PM (GMT)
Well, that was painful. I just got home a few minutes ago. I be moving Malach's post in the storyline here and then adding my second part. The reason for this is that I did not intend the break between the two parts to be long enough to permit any actions. I am sorry for this, but then fate called me off.

The good news is that while I will be doing various things on and off during the course of the day...I will be here for the a good portion of the day also. This means that if people pop on and off at the right times you have the potential to get alot accomplished today. ;)
____________________________________________________________________
The Second part is completed now. Enjoy.

Naruko/Pilaf: Reply to the PM I have sent you before you take an action.

Update: Naruko has replied and everything is cool. ;)

Malach - September 14, 2004 04:44 PM (GMT)
Just a thought, in never put down ammunition in my chracter description, should I assume I have some, and how much?

Enigma Zero - September 14, 2004 05:40 PM (GMT)
Allow me to fill in the gap. I did some research on a few sites and came up with this based on archery references in multiple time periods and cultures.

Amendment to Azrael:
Primary Weapon: Long Bow and Quiver

Long Bow:
Type: Ranged Weapon
Range: 1-150 square yards
Note: Under 1 square yard(roughtly 9 feet) between you and an opponent....just stab it with the arrow. You have better odds. ;)

Quiver:
Type: Storage Container
Capacity and Gear:
-Main Compartment: 15 Arrows(standard)
-Left Side Pouch Upper: Small Sharpening Stone(for arrowheads)
-Left Side Pouch Lower: 15 Arrowheads and some twine.
-Right Side Pouch Upper: 15 Nocks
-Right Side Pouch Lower: Small Whittling Stone
-Back Pouch: A Length of Bowstring(5 restrings worth)

Notes:Since this is a Long Bow then there will be reduced damage and increased difficulty if you choose to use it at shorter distances.
____________________________________________________________________

Archery:
-A person may load, aim, and shoot one arrow per action.

Ranged Combat:
-A person may take an action to "Aim". They do so by declaring a target to aim for as their action. When their next action comes up they may take one of 3 actions. They may continue to aim(you cannot aim any more beyond this), fire with an increased chance to hit, or make a "called shot" without the penalty of such an action. If you elect to aim a second time then your you have 2 choices for your 3rd action. You may fire with a very small chance of missing or you may make a "called shot" with an increased chance to hit.

-If you are hit with a successful attack then your Aim is canceled.
-If you take any action other than what is listed then your Aim is canceled.
-Casters would replace the word "fire" with the word "cast a spell" in this outline.
____________________________________________________________________

Special GM Note: In light of the addition of this information. Malach is granted one chance to alter his present action. :D

Malach - September 14, 2004 06:04 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the clarification, action is staying the same.

Naruko - September 15, 2004 12:33 AM (GMT)
Thats everyone right, now enigma's gonna kill one of us off probably

Pilaf - September 15, 2004 12:34 AM (GMT)
not when I'm done, they won't.

Voltei - September 15, 2004 12:34 AM (GMT)
Dusk won't allow the deaths of his teammates, definitely not Dusk. :P

NonVip - September 15, 2004 12:35 AM (GMT)
Zues will survive no matter what, regardless if you guys do or not :P

Pilaf - September 15, 2004 12:37 AM (GMT)
especially not zues... of course not zues... :P.

Naruko - September 15, 2004 12:44 AM (GMT)
Pilaf, you only got one move and your twarling your hand, you no that right, gotta wait for enigma now and I wont anyone die and Dusk, if you wont let anyone die, doesnt that mean your fighting even more and will likely die then ?

Voltei - September 15, 2004 12:47 AM (GMT)
He's a magician of Air.

He'll eventually learn to use spells like Soothing Breeze to heal, and if need by, use the Speed of the Hare (?) to temporarily increase the agility of his fellow members. ^_^

Maybe defensive spells like a barrier of wind in the future. I hope I hope.

Plus I have some firepower on my side too.

Naruko - September 15, 2004 12:49 AM (GMT)
Yah, but IM talking about now, 12 against 6 and I fell stupid that I didnt attack

Pilaf - September 15, 2004 01:09 AM (GMT)
and who says my action was finished...? I'm doing something, enigma knows what it is... :P.
