Title: Wolverine and The X-Men
Enigma Zero - February 6, 2008 08:54 PM (GMT)
While the series has been in limbo for quite some time it now appears that the newest X-men related animated series will premiere on The Kid's WB this fall. Considering it's only going to be one year late...I'm rather pleased.
Originally it was supposed to be a spin-off from
X-Men: Evolution but the new show seems to be more in tune with the movies while pretty much ignoring the 3rd film altogether(no objections here on my part). Here's some info to sink your teeth into until next fall.

Is this a one shot movie?
Enigma Zero - February 6, 2008 10:47 PM (GMT)
1st season is 26 half hour episodes. ;)
Oplasma45 - February 9, 2008 06:10 PM (GMT)
It looks good, but I don't really like the storyline they're going to do.
Sesshomaru - February 9, 2008 08:31 PM (GMT)
i think if they based it off the current comic book line they would be better off
+ wolverine as leader? i think it should be like the comic books were cyclops is the leader
ypg - February 10, 2008 12:46 PM (GMT)
Wolverine and the X-men? Urgh, people should really start giving cyclops his dues....even if he's gone totally wacko these days.
Sesshomaru - February 10, 2008 08:57 PM (GMT)
not really in the comic book series he's changed into a really strong confident leader
Enigma Zero - February 13, 2008 12:39 AM (GMT)
FYI, Wolverine is the team leader of the new series X-Force. As for Cyclops, I like the whole broken and hopeless approach that this series is taking with him. I'm, frankly, tired of boyscout Scott. It's time for a change. Also worth considering is that Emma is supposed to be in this series so there's the chance they'll go down the whole Scott and Emma route...which could be entertaining. :angelic:

But they took it a bit too far. Next thing you know he might just be magnetos's successor. I miss this super-trigo-optic-beam-zap skills. :(
And Emma is just annoying.

Scott should be insane, Look at his life:
1. He's the member of a hated racial group.
2. His life long love is a ultra powerful almost God-like being, who loves him one minute, then doesn't. and constantly dies and get reborn (Jean)
3. He married someone who looked and acted like Jean but was not, who died and was later turned into a strange villian. Their son (Cable) is sent into the future to cure a disease who eventually returns as an adult who is old enough to be Cyclops father
4. He cannot shut off his power, has to wear those glasses, and is constantly worried about accidently killing people.
5. He spent his entire youth in an orphanage, assuming his parents were dead, only to find out as a adult, they have been flying around space as space pirates.
6. He merged with Apocalypse
7. And then there is Emma
8. He has another child of his and Jean's from an alternate timeline; now living in his timeline (Rachel)
9. Brothers he thought were dead, or did not know about continually show up into his life unexpectedly.
10. He dies and is brought back to life at least once
You try not to go insane

And the fact that he isn't as nutty as he should be makes him "The most legendary of all X-Men"
I'm looking forward to the messiah complex arc. Hopefully they'll make him as cool as before....or he'll get more messed up.
Enigma Zero - February 14, 2008 03:43 PM (GMT)
I know this is a little off-topic but blameypg for this...
"Messiah Complex" wrapped up a few weeks ago. Overall, it's not the worst thing I've read in the X-overs line but it definately wasn't worth all the build up that happened as a result of "Endangered Species." I would, however, pretty much have to say it's required reading if you plan to follow any of the X-titles(well except Astonishing which didn't participate) in the forseeable future. If for nothing more than two things...
1.The 'Who Bought The Farm' List
2.The title revamps like and such...
-Uncanny X-Men
-X-Factor
-X-Force(NEW)
-Young X-Men(previously New X-Men)
-X-Men: Legacy(previously X-Men Vol. 2)
-Cable(Previously Cable and Deadpool)
-X-Men: Divided We Stand(New Mini-Series)
Getting back on topic, I find 'Trainwreck Cyclopls' to be far more interesting than 'Boyscout Cyclops.' I'm secretly hoping that when they bring back The Professor(trust me...it'll happen) that this turns 'Trainwreck Cyclops' into 'Screw you Professor you trained me to lead and that's what I plan to do thank you very much now get out of my face Cyclops.' That might be a tad too much to hope for but it would be interesting. :angelic:
Pilaf - February 14, 2008 04:21 PM (GMT)
Boycout Cyclops makes a bad leader.
Wolverine is only a slightly better leader.
I'd REALLY like to see whacko-insane Cyclops be a leader.
I agree, Enigma.
xaviersxmen - May 11, 2008 06:25 PM (GMT)
GREAT, anyhting xmany is great to me and my son/.:)
Enigma Zero - May 18, 2008 09:29 PM (GMT)
Not 'anything'....talk like that might make FOX or JETTIX dig up "Fox's X-Men Adventures" again....and I don't think I could stand to suffer through that again.
xaviersxmen - May 18, 2008 10:22 PM (GMT)
The way the art work looks it will be diffrent but we will have to see. Story lines and fresh ones will be the key.
Enigma Zero - May 22, 2008 12:11 AM (GMT)
So far I hold high hopes for this one because...
1. It, artistically, looks like Evolution which was, IMHO, the best X-men series to ever grace television.
2. Even based on the little mini-trailers, this isn't going to be a rehash of comic book content cramming full story arcs into single episodes with 2 dozen camoes(see "Fox's X-Men Advantures).
Overall, I'm quite looking forward to this one. :D
Enigma Zero - May 25, 2008 06:32 PM (GMT)
new Trailer on the official site...and it's Cameo-tastic! =D

TheUnknownSeries - September 10, 2008 08:09 PM (GMT)
I saw the first episode and I thought that it was ok. It's weird to see most of the X-Men looking up to Wolverine or seeing him as the level heading one.

There you go messing me up.:P Any idea when it starts here?
Oplasma45 - September 11, 2008 05:20 AM (GMT)
Supposedly sometime next year.
xaviersxmen - September 11, 2008 11:13 AM (GMT)
So I guess its not made here?
Oplasma45 - September 12, 2008 04:25 AM (GMT)
It's actually made here. Sometimes shows are shown elsewhere before they make their debut in the U.S.
Enigma Zero - September 12, 2008 11:05 PM (GMT)
I saw it(thought it aired in the US and I just missed it...oops). I have to say that, so far, it has the same look and feel(mostly) for Evolution(which is a good thing). Like most shows, however, you can't tell much about it by the 1st episode. Won't know for certain about this one for at least a few more episodes.
Oplasma45 - September 13, 2008 05:31 AM (GMT)
The voice and attitude of the little girl seems a little out of place...
Enigma Zero - September 13, 2008 08:44 PM (GMT)
To me she sounded like the little girl from Transformers Animated(Of which I've seen roughly 4 to 5 episodes). Course, on the bright side, if this character was the worst problem you had with the show then you're probably in good shape considering I'm betting she 'might' show up in one more episode....if at all.
Without giving too much of the actual show away, for those who haven't seen it, the 1st episode gave off a pretty strong Old School Incredible Hulk vibe in the way the plot played out. Of course it doesn't look like the series will be following this formula beyond this episode though.
Ok, now it's time for the spoiler talk.
[SPOILER]
So far the show has 4 kinds of characters...
Evolution Characters: Most of the cast seems to fall into this catagory..which is nice since Evolution was the best X-men series to ever hit television.
Movie Characters: So far Rogue is the most obvious example of this kind of character. It looks like they want to try to, somewhat, tie in the movies to this series to draw in more people. Pyro could also fall into this catagory, especially when you consider he'll more than likely pop up later as a member of the Brotherhood.
Comic Cameos: This seems to be done alot better than the Fox series ever attempted to do with cameos. I don't know about you, but seeing Dust do her thing in the episode was very nice.
Mash Ups: A few characters in the show seem to be a mix of equal parts movie, Evolution, and comics. Nightcrawler and Colossus fall into this catagory for me.
Overall my largest complaint with the 1st episode was that they picked up a truckload of mutants and managed to keep...well...none of them. You would have thought at least a few of them would have stuck around. :/
Oplasma45 - September 14, 2008 02:44 AM (GMT)
The second episode faired a little better than the first. Still a little iffy on the characterization of Rogue.
Enigma Zero - September 14, 2008 06:01 PM (GMT)
I did a little "housecleaning" in this thread. It was beginning to treat into the grey areas. It's all better now so carry on with your discussion. :angelic:
Oplasma45 - September 22, 2008 07:01 AM (GMT)
Third episode kind of gave me a Power Rangers vibe with Xavier's floating head....not sure if that's a bad thing though. Though it does kind of remind me of Days of Future Past towards the end which is pretty cool.
Malach - September 22, 2008 12:53 PM (GMT)
Evidentlly it is coming to Nicktoons pretty soon
TheUnknownSeries - September 24, 2008 11:02 AM (GMT)
It's not a bad show. It's better the Evolution but we have to wait and see if it is better then the fox version from the 90's!
Oplasma45 - October 4, 2008 07:21 PM (GMT)
Well, it's less convoluted than the version that was on Fox.
Oplasma45 - October 11, 2008 11:21 PM (GMT)
Newest episode has the best use of Nightcrawler I have seen so far...also I thought I saw someone that looked like Triana Orpheus from the Venture Bros.

They use Nightcrawler really well in that episode. They are doing a great job with the series. The girl that look like Triana was Network from the Young X-Men.

I still think the Fox version was better then Evolution. The story was good in evolution but I just did not like the high school factor.
Enigma Zero - October 15, 2008 08:15 PM (GMT)
I'll take the high school camp over poor writing, animation, and the uncontrolable urge to sneak 50 cameos in per episode whether they're relevant or not...but that's just me I guess.
BTW, I just finished with the Nightcrawler episode and......ppppppprrrrrreeeeetttttttttttyyyyy. =D
TheUnknownSeries - October 16, 2008 03:18 AM (GMT)
Ah IDK it has a special place in my heart. I was 9 when I saw that series and it was the first time I saw X-Men. It got me hook to the comics, I start to buy the card packs, and I learn about other characters that was not related to Spiderman, The Hulk, or Captain America series. It was my marvel version of Superfriends. Superfriends was probably the most cheesiest superheroes cartoon ever but it is a work of art in my mind. The 90's X-Men made me a X-Men fan and it made me love the X-Men. It was my first marvel cartoon series E you have to understand that. You never forget your first! :D
And Yeah the episode of Wolverine and the X-Men featuring nightcrawler was pretty. Oplasma was right best use of Nightcrawler ever!
Oplasma45 - October 22, 2008 05:17 AM (GMT)
Wow, newest episode decided to go with a fusion of Ultimate and 616 Nick Fury. And great nod on the first appearance of Wolverine.
---
EDIT: Okay so the newest episode had me confused. Nitro wanted to be left alone and not harm anyone, and Psylocke was a modestly dressed baddie. It's all backwards in the episode! IT MAKES NO SENSE!
