Title: CN MMORPG "Fusion Fall"

Malach - July 30, 2007 07:23 PM (GMT)
This will be the official thread to discuss the CN MMORPG, tentatively known as "Fusion Fall".

They answered some questions about it at this weekend Nerd Convention Comic Con:

http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=18310

Interesting stuff, there definitley will be a clan system, class play, and they are working on some PvP stuff. Characters will come from the current and past CN shows, and their also seems to be a "manga" element to it. It is set to be released next summer, and PRICING is not yet availble. Interesting, everthing I read seemed to indicate it would be free.

Evidently also you could play an early Alpha Version at Comic Con, I am looking for more info on that. It is sounding almost Kingdom Heartsesque, no?

The basic premise is that Alien have invade the CN world, and you there to defend it with the charcters, who have all developed and anime style look, look for example at Dexter in the gallery . . . Bleedman might want to sue.

Some quotes from their press release:

QUOTE
FusionFall is an MMOG set in a re-imagined Cartoon Network universe. As a kid in this world, players will team up with other players and Cartoon Network characters to defend it from an alien invasion of epic proportions. The game is a mix of all the action of a 3-D console platform game and all the customization, character development and open-ended world exploration of an MMORPG (massively multi-player online role-playing game). In addition, small, super-deformed versions of Cartoon Network characters are collected along the way and travel with players, providing powers and abilities to assist during missions.

QUOTE
"One of the things we're most excited about in FusionFall is the game play," said Chris Waldron, executive producer of FusionFall. "With our audience and Cartoon Network characters, we knew we wanted to create a new kind of MMOG and develop a game that takes all the great action of popular console games and merges it with all the elements of MMORPGs that are so enticing to players."

QUOTE
the game brings Cartoon Network's beloved characters and sensibility to the fast-growing online gaming realm with an "East-meets-West"

Hojo - July 30, 2007 08:56 PM (GMT)
They haven't got a prayer unless they plan on making it free. I would spend a few minutes in it if it were free, but the MMO market is currently under complete domination by World of Warcraft, and I don't think Cartoon Network is ready for that kind of competition.

I hope that at the very most they do a Runescape-esque payment plan where they give you a stripped down version of the game and make people pay for some of the better stuff. That way, my cheap self can play and the rich people will pay for a digital item that is worth nothing.

Psych Out - July 30, 2007 09:57 PM (GMT)
Lol @ Hojo.

I might play this.. Gettin' my name up there now though, so I don't have to when it comes down to PsychOut426, when instead I can pick regular Psych Out :D

Choas - July 31, 2007 12:29 AM (GMT)
I'll give it a try.

Malach - July 31, 2007 01:01 AM (GMT)

I was about to say that that looked a lot like bleedman's work. :o

Thirding this. I actually thought they had him as the art director its so similar....

When I first heard about this I was interested but now I'm really not. The one thing about CN is that it wasn't anime-style-esque to begin with. In my opinion keeping the characters the way they are meant to look would have been a better choice. I mean there are loads of games that look identical to this style and play the same as well. Way to be original CN. <_<

Psych Out - July 31, 2007 03:42 AM (GMT)
Didn't CN once have a "All American" campaign, or w/e at one point? I vaguely remember that..

ypg - July 31, 2007 10:15 AM (GMT)
Orbit's popularity was due to it's simplicity. While this one does have cool graphics and such I wonder if it'll really catch on....

Oh yes and while I do prefer 'the original' look, I think manga dexter looks kindda cool...ohh the leather!

I check, Bleedmans real name does not appear anywhere in the art sections for this game. It would be funny though, he sue, CN, cause he uses their chracters image, because their images are too much similar to his . . .

This sounds ok. I might try it. But what I really want to know is if gtoons will ever come back.

Same. That is probably they only thing I'ld ever go to back to CN.com for

Psych Out - August 1, 2007 06:32 PM (GMT)
Well even if it does, most likely you would have to start all over again.

Enigma Zero - August 1, 2007 07:51 PM (GMT)
Ok, did a bunch of reading up and video watching on this subject and here's what I see so far.

The Good:
-Supposedly will have real chat(possible voice) as opposed to 'canned chat.' Be interesting to see how good of a word filter they impliment.
-Previous artlicles on this said that the service will be offered in two formats, both with a free download. It's a matter of core vs. additional content as to whether you play free or pay to play. This system already works for Anarchy Online pretty well.
-Miltiple looks can be generated from the existing gear.
-Grouping is possible.
-Soloing appears to be possible.

The Bad:
-PvP(Person vs. Person killing) is one of the features. Considering the kinds of egomaniacal jerks and twinks that this attracts...I don't think it's a fitting idea.
-Platforms, platforms, and more platforms. This is a feature that tends to annoy more games than draw them into the game...just check most console rating sites.
-Groups can only have 4 people.
-Maybe the dev at the demo just sucks(entirely possible), but after watching melee vs. projectile....I don't see why someone would choose melee. I haven't seen the 'bomber' class at all yet.
-The game appears to only have 2 body types(one male and one female). Unknown whether you can customize the body type.
-While the game does sport several unique looks based on gear....there is no color or gear customization.
-Release date has already been bumped from Spring to Summer 2008. Hopefully this will be the only delay and it won't turn into a Blizzard Product.

Questions:
-Since some of the characters are being revamped and aged...will they appear in new cartoons this way. The PPG already pretty much look the way they do on Fusion if you watch Damashita! PPG Z, but what about Mac, Ben, Dexter, and some of the others?

List of Nanos:
-Mac
-Bloo
-Professor Utonium
-Him
-Eduardo: Heals
-Mandark: Jump Higher
-Four ArmsL Casts Net(Snare)
-Numbah 2
-Numbah 1
-Octi
-Mojo Jojo: Run Faster
-Numbah 5: Stun Attack
-Samurai Jack
-Blossom
-Bubbles
-Buttercup

Worlds:
-Goat's Junkyard(Megas XLR)
-The Cul-De-Sac(The Ed's Cardboard Fortress)
-Stickybeard's Ship
-Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends
-KND HQ

Revamped Characters:
-Dexter
-Mandark
-Numbah 5
-Numbah 2
-Ben
-Mac
-Bubbles

Well, that's the overview so far from the information available. I'll update and add to this as I know more. Until next time. :angelic:

As for the gtoons comment, there has been statements that CN will be holding onto that to possibly include it like a mini-game for future projects.

i registered also already but i wish we didn't have to wait for so long!!! it looks alright! kind of like a toon town...runescape mix (but of course with a more intergallactic feeling) i also think the characters look pretty dope. ^_^

*and to malach about the gtoons! i really hope so! or i was just messing around and thought like maybe they would make the gtoons like power ups for you character or something or like bonuses and things if you find them! but just a little wierd thought*

Malach - August 2, 2007 05:14 PM (GMT)
So info, this some points of a email sent to me from someone who saw and played the demo of the game at Comic Con

- All the CN characters have matured, are magna influenced, and look real good
- The Cul-de-Sac was playable
- there are mini characters, Nanos, (CN) that follow you around like pets and impart some special power to you (IE Mandark makes you jump high). The Nanos are not stylized and look like their cartoon counterparts.
- The person said, even though there wasn't much at the demo, the graphic look good, and it made him excited for the game
- Additionally, it plays more like a platform than a MMO. It uses the typicl WASD SPACE control format.
- You can get missions from either evil or good CN characters or both

mange - August 2, 2007 05:18 PM (GMT)
Do you think they will include charcacters from courage in this game. If so, I definitely know I'll use a character or nano from the series. Asfor the gtoon comment, I have seen where CN states they might release it as a standalone game in the future with new pieces to collect, but this topic really isn't about that so we shall see. ^_^

Malach - August 2, 2007 06:17 PM (GMT)
From what I understand, they will eventual release all thier intellectual property, except adult swim into this game depending upon success.

Here is the first use of the Fusion Fall accounts you have set up. It is basically an avatar based social network with mini games that you earn credits on to make you avatar unque. Not sure if this will lead into Fusion Fall or not

Big Uncle Gorilla - November 13, 2007 02:55 AM (GMT)
well, I can run it on my PC, so its already one step ahead of CN's House Party and Disney's VMK.

The only room I can get to run right is the Haunted Garden.

Big Uncle Gorilla - November 18, 2007 01:50 AM (GMT)
A few tips for those playing the Mini Match;

-If you contract Zombieitis in the Haunted Garden, there is a cure in the Hero Tower. Go to the lower left room.
- To get a Hero Helmet for your mini, go to the Hero Tower. Go by the generators in the room in the upper left. Your mini will start glowing blue. This blue radiation allows you to pass thru the force field blocking entrance to the room in the upper right. The Hero Helmet is in this room.

If anybody else has played this at all and found any "hidden" items, let me hear it.

AutoC - November 18, 2007 03:46 AM (GMT)
It wont let me play.It keeps saying minimatch is full
