The show originally aired about half an hour ago, but the encore is on now and there will be another at 12:30 AM EST.

The story is thin but I liked the action. Without Samuel L. Jackson attached to it, though, it wouldn't be worth it at all.

The art style and all-out action reminds me of an animated Lone Wolf and Cub, which is a good thing. Your thoughts?

Yeah it is similar to Champloo, VERY VIOLENT.

Seriously, kids, it comes on late for a reason. Blood, swearing, drug use...not for the kiddies.

I've never seen Samurai Champloo, so I wasn't really in any position to make the comparison. I liked Afro, though.

I was shocked on this one. I thought, "Spike...it'll be weak," and it turned out to be probably the most graphic thing I've seen on basic cable. My wife just kept staring at the screen like it was a car wreck and repeating,"I know they just didn't go there," and I kept replying,"Yup...they did."

As for the comparisons, I honestly see as much Ninja Scroll(Movie and TV Series) as I do Champloo in the show. For me, the closest comparison I could draw was how much, style-wise, it had in common with the episode of Boondocks where they tried to kidnap Oprah...but that's just me. =D

It might not be the best series I've seen, but the shock value should keep it around for a while and it was good for a few laughs. :angelic:

...not to mention that it's on Spike, and their animated series have a poor renewal rate. :/
