This image is 36" x 48" and was done in 1993. It is oil paint on luan. The title of the piece is
Pretty Hate Machine. The image was done after a rather nasty fight with an ex girlfriend. I popped in the CD of the same name and just painted with the music blasting for about 4 hours.
Years later the painting to me is obviously my feelings of entrapment in the relationship, so essentially it is a snapshot/self portrait of the time.

This piece in entitiled
All Apologies: Homage to Kurt Cobain. It was done in 1994 one day after the death of Kurt Cobain. This image was bought by the Porvidence Pheonix (a alternative newpaper with a 500,000 subscription) to use in their cover story about his death. It is approxoimately 40" x 32" and done in oil, paper, and canvas, on canvas.
Being of Generation X and in college when the Nirvana phenomenon started, Kurt Cobain was the representation of me, and my dienfranchised friends. Nirvana apraked a music revolution (for good and bad) and they are as historically importatn to that time, as the Beatles were. This is a attempted representation of the power and emotion of Nirvana, and their ending. The image is Cobain, frozen in his unique scream. No sound comes from the scream, but there image in howling. In a more disturbing way this image also represents the violence of his death at the hands of a shotgun. The action and distortion is supposed to represent this in some way.
10 year removed this piece might not have the impact it used to have (just as the killings of John Lennon, and Marvin Gaye don't), but anyone who was artistically concious of what went on in the early 90's might still feel this.
Malach - June 29, 2004 05:04 PM (GMT)

This image is entitled
Barad - Dur and is from 2003. It is oil, mixed media, and found object on plywood. This painting is very simply about the quest of the ring throught the plains of Cirith Ungol to Mount Doom, and the Sauron's Tower, Barad -Dur that is on enternal vigilance for the ring.
Malach - June 30, 2004 02:53 PM (GMT)

This piece dates from 1999 and is entitled
J'taime. It is 38" x 29". It is oil and acrylic, with mixed media and found objects. This a a very personal piece about familial love, specifically about my wife family. Without getting to specific, it is about a family that loves each other through pain, death, life issues, and a disabled sibling.
Malach - July 2, 2004 05:06 PM (GMT)

This painting date from 1995. It is Entitiled
Jihad II. It is 40" by 35" and done in oil, mixed media, and found objects on canvas. This is the first painting that I did that incoporated the primitive abstract, and real well. It is also the first that incorporated the pasted object well, and distortion of space and perspective.
What is this about? I am not totally sure. There was no idead behind this piece, just an incorporation of images, mood, and symbolism. Obviously there is a crucifixtion scene in the bottom left. The Bull symbolizes the devil, and unbridled male aggression. The blue flames/water are also symbolic of Heck, and Christ.
This also shows the influence of graffiti begining to affect my work.
Malach - July 7, 2004 05:41 PM (GMT)

This image in entitled Jihad III. It is oil, mixed media, and pasted objects on canvas, and is 24" by 38" in it's deepest dimensions. It is dated 2002.
This painting is very simply about my wifes pregnancy and the birth of our first child. It also deals with the transition from one type of family to another. This painting is a very cohesive mix of real, abstract and primitive.
Malach - July 22, 2004 06:20 PM (GMT)

This painting was done in 2004. It is entitled
Jihad IV: Shock and Awe. It is oil, mixed media, and found objects on canvas. It's dimensions are 52" by 39". Very simply this image is about the War in Iraq, it's effect upon the American People, and the People of the world, and it's effect on the people and culture of Iraq. The large creature is a Llamassu, which is an acient babylonian symbol.

I have decided to stop being lazy and add more, descrition to follow.
Malach - December 16, 2004 07:02 PM (GMT)

This painting is dated from 1998. It is entiteled
I'd Rather be an Artist than a God. It is oil with mixed media, on canvas and measure 60" x 24". The painting is about how one attempts to balance their artistic/creative self, with their business/analytical self. It is specifically about my brother, but could be about anyone, and is a bit of a self protrait.
My brother is a very good musician, in fact, he does a number of things professionally as a song writer and guitarist. At the time he was trying to jump start his music carreer and working as a financial ananlyst. He was making a ton of money, but what he really wanted to do was falling by the wayside (I have similar history). He finally turned his life around to where he has a job where he can still persue music.
Malach - December 16, 2004 07:04 PM (GMT)

This painting dated from 2001. It is entitled
Paradise Lost, and is oil and mixed media on canvas. Very simply this painting is about the book
Paradise Lost, by Jonathan Milton. It is about before the dawn of time, the War between heaven and H e l l, God and lucifer. It is not a comment on relgion, more of an exploration of mythology.
Malach - December 16, 2004 07:06 PM (GMT)

This is a old painting from 1994. It is entitled
I AM THE HOLY SPIRIT; I am whole in Spirit: Homage' au Van Gogh. It is Oil on canvas. This painting is simply an exploration of Van Gogh, the man, the painter. It explores his painting style, color pallette, vision, and mental health. It depicts a lonely naked man, awkward dancing, in this dark feild, suround by Van Goghesque color burst.

Malach - December 17, 2004 07:35 PM (GMT)

This piece is from 2002. It is entitled
Dues Ex Machina and measure 3' by 2'. It is oils and mized media on canvas. There is acutally a timing belt and gear from a car in the painting. The painting is mainly an exploration of nature vs. technology, the influences it has on each other, and replacing nature with technology.
Malach - December 17, 2004 08:19 PM (GMT)

This painting is from 1995. It is entitled
4251995, and is 6' high by 18" wide. It is oil and mixed media on canvas. This painting was painted for my Aunt, while she was dying of breast cancer. I hung in her hospital room until she died. I added that date she died to it , and that is also the title of the painting. I love this painting. My best stuff always comes from gut emotion.

As in the Bull? It is more of a representation of Satan, and Unbridled male sexuality, but Taurus is cool.
