Well there's this battle and that battle and that's pretty much fine, but we're going to do things a tad bit differently here. This is a bracketed system with the winner going on to face other winners until we have two people left...and then there will be only one.

The difference here is quite simple. If you're voting then you're just a spectator in the battle. The only thing the votes will accomplish is to show who the "People's Favorite" is in the confrontation. No, we're going to settle things differently here.

You will all, if you so choose to do so, pick who you think would win in an all out, drag down, battle...and you'll provide reasons. Out of those who provide the best answers I will choose 6 of you(3 for each side) to be the representatives of your view. Then I will PM those 6 a series of trivia questions on the combatants. The reps will have 48 hours in which to PM back their answers(if you don't make it then they're all counted as wrong). I will then tabulate the answers and the side with the most correct answers will be declared the victor.

It's one thing to say you "think" someone would win, but here in Thunderdome we back it up with knowledge. Consider your statements carefully...I will choose the representatives on Friday...

So let's get this show on the road, shall we? On one side we have The Lord of The Heartless from the hit game series Kingdom Heart, Ansem. On the other side we have Sonic's arch nemesis Dr. Robotnik. Let Round I begin...NOW.

Can you give a bio on the characters?

I only know who doctor robotnik (aka eggman) is

Ansem. He is as close to pure darkness as you can get, and can use magic. Robotnik has no special powers on his own, and in an arena state will likely not be allowed to use robotic creations. Even if he can use them, Ansem could easily just rush in and take out Robotnik.

EDIT: Speaking of the IQ levels... Robotnik may have an IQ of 300, but Ansem is (was) a sage.

As requested...backgrounds.

Ansem:
He began as a respected sage who dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge and was the ruler of his world, Hollow Bastion. He believed that darkness could spread into hearts, no matter how pure, and could take control and swallow the heart. He became curious of the darkness and began to study it by using some of his people. This resulted in his discovery of the creatures which he named the "Heartless", and began to study them, writing down his findings and ideals in his Report. He even went for to artifically create them, tatooting them with his crest (which later became the Heartless insigna). Eventually, he succumbed to utter maddess, believing that darkness is superior and all things must return to it. As a result, he destroyed his own world to gain further knowledge to the mysteries of the universe. To further that very goal, Ansem sacrificed his body to the darkness. But despite his descent into darkness, Ansem's disembodied heart maintained his memories and thus did not become a Heartless itself.

Dr. Robotnik(aka Dr. Eggman):
Dr. Robotnik/Eggman is an evil genius with an I.Q. of 300 and a very childish demeanor. He tries to take over the world by enslaving the population inside robots to serve his every whim.

He has built countless airships, such as the Egg Carrier, and a moon-sized space station called the Death Egg. He has also built countless robots, a number of which resemble either him or his longtime rival, Sonic.

In most video games, the main villain is the final boss fought by the player. Eggman, in contrast, appears as the boss of every level in most of the Sonic games, in a different machine each time.

Interesting.

What if we pit the Egg Carrier against the big huge Ansem ship...thingie, for those who know what I'm talking about.

If we pit their minions together, the Heartless probably can't stand up to Eggman's machines because they don't have hearts themselves. The robots have guns which help them alot.

Ansem directly against Robotnik though...it would be a close call, but Robotnik would eventually succumb to Ansem's speed and magic.

Ansem it is then.

Robotinik seem to me to be a regnerating Robot. Can't beat that, even with magic. Robotnik

Robotnik, voltei took like hlaf my reasons why.. but come on, before he became the child friendly"egg man", he created Metal Sonic, now the most deadly sonic character there is. Robotnik could probably make life size robot of himself and send it to battle instead :P Also, robotnik can travel between dimensions with a very handheld machine(youd have to watch the japanese origanal series) ;)

Besides, robotniks hearts nearly as dark as it gets :lol:

Only two votes seperating the winner from the loser for "People's Favorite" on this one. Remember, we like reasons to back up opinions here...so keep em coming. :D

Not to make you work any harder, but can you add pics to the poll choices?

I would have liked to, but I couldn't figure out if it was even possible, provide the two choices and then put the Vs. image in between them. The problem I encountered was that if I did this....then the picture itself became a viable choice in the poll. :unsure:

PS, for those od you who think just because robotnik CANT be sonic,[censor][censor]... IF ansem couldnt beat a kid with key shaped swortds, how could he hit a super fast sonic ;)
And Sora wouldnt last against the Egg Carrier OR any of his machines...

Next Battle I might attempt to make a larger image and break it into two pieces. Then I could, in theory, place an option, then one image, the second image, and then the second option so it would all fit together like a puzzle.

Malach, if you have any ideas on how to make something more visually appealing than the current setup happen...I'm all ears. :D

both failed, but robotnik was fighting a super fast guy. Ansem got beat by a kid with a large key.

I tried fitting into the question slot on the edit using true Html, but it did not work, I'll play with it more

Without ruining the story for those who have not played Kingdom Hearts(there has to be one or 2 people out there somewhere :lol: ), Ansem was not really beaten by a kid with a key....PM me for clarifications if you want them, Tiki.

I beat the game and even with the others i cant mention, robotnik would win...

Technically, Ansem wasn't beaten by Sora because he was still ready to fight some more until...[insert spoiler here]

Robotnik cant win anything by himself.

Robotnik can build a robot army. The other guy get beat up by Disney characters. Come on if you can't beat a disney character then you are not a good villain.

Thats what I mean. Plus if he makes other things to win that would mean the robots won and not him.

That is true . Ok he can Make a robot suit and just step on the guy that can't beat a disney character.

Just for my own personal curiousity....

Some of you keep saying "That Disney Kid" but I don't hear anyone saying anything about "That Hedgehog whose only real ability is he's fast." I just wanted to get some reactions on this realization. Oh....and you're running out of time on this thread to be quick about it.

Hey someonw that is real fast and has spikes on his back is more dangerous then disney characters. Beside if he collect all of the chaos emerald he becomes a super sayian.

^----Just to clear up a few things...

-Sonic has blue hair...not spikes...unless someone did some radical surgery that I am unaware of at this time.
-That you used the words "Super Saiyan" is enough to lose the poor little hedgehog some points.
-Sora isn't a Disney Character. Sora is a Square Character(aka The Final Fantasy People).
-Malifiscient is a Disney Character.....and she's a pretty nasty one at that so not all Disney Characters are lame.

Sora is the main character from Kingdom Hearts.

Maleficent is the villian in Sleeping Beauty...who turns into a huge dragon.

And was the only boss i couldnt beat, conan had to beat it for me :( But riku after was easy :D

ONe, notice Sonic,as long as he has 1 ring,he doesnt die ;) and not super saiyan, justy "superpowered" as said in sonic heroes

Pilaf is correct...everyone knows Sora would waste Sonic in a battle. That's pretty much a fact. The fight here is Ansem vs. Robotnik....and it's almost "Put up or Shut up" time. :angel:

It would be a good idea if SOMEONE would make a sprite movie of the barttle after this poll is closed :P

The polls are closed on this one. The "People's Favorite" is Dr. Robotnik with a 10-6 lead over Ansem. Now it gets interesting. These are the people who will be representing each combatant.
