Description: Book to buy after finishing Win32Console

Yes, I've mastered Win32 Console programming and would like to know what book to buy next. I am planning to get Teach Yourself Game Programming in 24 Hours by SAMS. Would that be a good choice? If so, then what topics does it cover? Any other reccomendations?
Thanks

Yes, that's an awesome book. It teaches a little WinAPI, game engine design in general, GDI, and good programming practices.
After that book Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Guru, written by Andre LaMothe, arguable the best game programmer of all time; goes far more in depth and teaches DirectX7 (which is probably the DirectX version that makes the most sense to noobs).

Thanks. Have you (or has anybody else) heard of the following titles?
Clayton Walnum - Teach Yourself Game Programming with DirectX in 21 Days
Andre LeMothe - Tricks of the 3D Game Programming Gurus-Advanced 3D Graphics and Rasterization (Of course, I'll try this one later on)

I've heard of the those but never really read them. Anything by Andre LaMothe is likely to be good but some of his books have been around (10+ years) so long that they aren't very useful anymore. Just make sure the book uses a modern technology like DirectX or OpenGL and wasn't written for DOS or anything. Typically the "Teach yourself ... in ..." books from Sams are pretty good.

Tricks of the 3D Game Programming Gurus-Advanced 3D Graphics and Rasterization is the latest book in the "Tricks of the... Programming Gurus..." series and uses DirectX9.

OK then it must be awesome...

As I can see this is a really old thread, but I ran across while doing a google search for Andre LeMothe. I'm currently reading his Tricks and the 3D Game Programming Gurus. I believe he actually is using DirectX 7.0 for the graphics.
