NOFX - March 23, 2005 07:49 PM (GMT)
Hello, i want to start with opengl programming but i dont know any good books. I checked a few books on amazon.com and read some comments about it from other people. But one persons says its good the other says its not so good. So im still looking for some more opinions. Do any of you guys know a good opengl32 book? I would like to learn the basics of game programming, not in a Dos windows but real 3D opengl programming.

Hey, I am a very proud owner of the OpenGL SuperBible, 3rd Edition. It was worth every penny of the $60 I paid for it. The only critique I have for it is that it makes things a bit too easy with their included GLTools header file. I wish they would elaborate upon some of the ideas exercized inside the plethora of the library's function in the actual book contex rather than giving the libaray and nothing else. Overall, the book is very good, though. It gives plenty of portability tips and optimization tips for your OpenGL projects. It also has an extensive reference that allows for quick OGL function look-ups. The resource CD is a very excellent resource, also. Unfortunately, my CD exploded inside my CD-ROM drive a few weeks ago. :'(

Ouch.

Surely, if you can show that you have a rightful usage of a copy the CD, i.e. send them the pieces that's left, maybe they'll send you a new copy ?
