Title: Weiss as the mole
Description: Irina's contact within the CIA

lenafan - June 1, 2003 01:55 AM (GMT)
Irina Derevko / khasinau in the first season had a nasty agent in Hadlaki whom Jack nicely disposed of (hooray). However, I think she has had someone to keep her informed about Sydney's whereabouts and has used the information to show up without notice; to call her out of the blue.
It could be a telephone operator
It might be Marshall because he loves Syd and probably thinks Irina cool.
But I think it's Weiss, WHY?
Because he's a friend of both Syd and Vaughn. Irina might have contacted him and said all she wants to know is where Sydney is at all times. He would know. A couple of incidents seemed to cement it in my mind:
He was the one who called Vaughn to tell him to come back to work. V left S alone and who should show up, but MOM.
When Irina jumps, Syd calls for any agent to get to the street level and it's Weiss who goes and Irina escapes.
Plus he's the relative a magician and the way Irina appears and disappears it's like magic. :ph43r:

What do you think?

I don't know, I mean she almost killed him, not too friendly...

Maybe it's because I just like Weiss so much I don't want him to be bad...

Who said he was bad? If Irina wanted only to keep tabs on Sydney and is that bad? She seems truly protective of her daughter. Of course, she did tase her in Second Double, but that's understandable...Sydney has not listened or been rational about her mother since she escaped the CIA. She might have shot Irina if she had not disabled her.
So Irina needed someone who could help her get access to Sydney at all times.
He could supply the information easily. He likes Sydney and doesn't want anything to happen to her. :)

So do you have any opinions how Irina always knew where Sydney was?

It makes sense that Weiss would be the mole...a person both Vaughn and Sydney trusts and are friends with. And informing Irina on Sydney's whereabouts doesn't make him one of the bad guys! He understands that Irina is protective of her daughter, no matter what havoc Irina creates.

hmm... i think it's interesting that you think he's the mole. i mean wasn't it irina or at least one of her henchmen who shot weiss in the first place? why would he be so friendly to her?

Actually I wasn't too clear on who shot who and I'd like to see that episode again. Still with all the gunfire going on, I don't even know if Weiss knew who might have shot him.
I did pose two possibilities: Weiss for reasons given and the other was someone in a lesser position, i.e. the telephone operator "Mary Jane?" I believe she identified herself in the 1st phone message Sydney heard before the deadly one from Will.

hmm... i'm not exactly following you, sorry. WHAT phone operator?

except i agree with seeing the episode again. everything happened so fast that you didn't really realize what was going on b/c you were trying to focus on everything at once.

Sydney comes back home from Mexico City (The Telling) walks into her home. Goes to fridge, gets ice cream, sits down on couch with Francie/Allison, picks up her cell phone dials. Operator says there are two messages, the first one says
"This is Mary Jane (?), Mr. Kendall wants you to call" The second message was from Will--about Francie.

OHHHHH!!! (sudden realization) i didn't even remember the first message! all i remembered was the message from will.... hmm...i still don't see how mary jane is connected to weiss though.

Mary Jane (?) is the name of the operator at CIA. I was referring to the possibility that Irina's mole could have been someone like the operator (who always knows where agents are) OR it could be Weiss.

i get it now! ok... yes i see that as a possibility. but, i still thought that weiss said something about irina shooting him or something.
