Title: The Library
Chocolat64 - May 5, 2009 04:52 PM (GMT)
Walking into the library, her robes swishing as she walked, she entered the library. After receiving a death stare from Irma Pince, the dedicated and fanatical librarian, she quickly headed towards the back of the library, putting her bag down with a sigh. There was much work to do. She immediately began pouring over her books, searching for something that she hoped would lie within the text...
zamber - May 11, 2009 02:53 PM (GMT)
Zamber drifted into the Library, not seeming to be paying much attention. The only thing that suggested that her mind was even on this planet was her strangely coloured eyes darting around, taking everything in but not quiet letting her brain process it all.
Swinging her new bag of her shoulder she let it fall onto an empty table that held only a small pile of books that someone had neglected to put away. Before she sat down her hand plunged into the plain black bag and drew out what looked just like a notebook. Taking her seat she stared at it for a few moments, knowing that her first journal could be a great help to her memory, but also that the pink binding was ghastly and that she hadn’t any taste when she was younger.

Mat walked into the library, his shoulders hunched forwards, his eyes focused at the back of the library, but noticing and seeing nothing. His heart was troubled and his mood was foul. A wave of hostility could be felt emanating from him whenever he someone looked at him. He began searching through books, his eyes lifeless. He slammed many a book shut, after having quickly scanned them, and shoved them back in, knocking multiple books to the ground and not bothering to do anything about it.
zamber - May 11, 2009 04:03 PM (GMT)
Managing to settle into her reading within the first few words, Zamber’s brain drifted off into the past, beginning to remember when the words had been formed onto the lined paper and the feelings that had accompanied it. There was a feeling of loss, confusion and anger that shocked her. It would seem that she hadn’t been the happiest of children when writing this. But now, to her, everything she was reading seemed to trivial.
The thudding of books closing brought her back into the present and her attention darted to the cause of the noise. There was a second of alarm that would only have shown up using a heart monitor before she realized what the cause of the commotion was. Her heart rate returned to normal as she wondered what was going on. Her eyes drifted to the books that lay discarded on the ground and she frowned, itching to pick them up.
XIII - May 11, 2009 04:11 PM (GMT)
Mat mumbled and grumbled himself as he went through more and more books. He had a look of anger upon his face after closing one and threw it to the ground. he brought his hands up to his head and pull his chin down to his chest, cradling his head with his hands, while beginning to pace, stepping on some of the books he had knocked to the ground.
zamber - May 11, 2009 04:34 PM (GMT)
As soon as the guy started pacing, Zamber got to her feet, barely suppressing a sigh, there went her peaceful hour of reading. But to ignore that something was up with the stranger would be just selfish and unmoral. Taking a deep breath and hoping that he wouldn’t blow up at her, she strolled over, leaving her stuff at the table.
“Are you looking for a particular book?” she enquired, looking down at the many books that now littered the floor. She had almost asked him if he was alright but it was obvious that he wasn’t and she knew how frustrating that question could be. There had only been a few occasions when she had been asked that question as being an introvert, she tended to hide her emotions.
XIII - May 11, 2009 05:33 PM (GMT)
Mat took his hands off his head and slowly looked up, looking into his eyes was like looking into the eyes of death itself. He growled out "No, I'm not looking for a book. I'm looking for an answer. For the answer." While lowering his shoulders giving him an almost animal look.
zamber - May 12, 2009 08:36 AM (GMT)
Zamber let the words whirl around her head as they sank in. She knew what it was like to desperately search for answers but she was never sure if she was asking the right questions. There was one that sprang to mind now and she uttered it out loud, “What’s the question.” She doubted that she would be able to help but at least she could give it a shot and she could surprise herself.
XIII - May 12, 2009 03:48 PM (GMT)
Mat snarled trying his best not to show his teeth. "Life, humans, emotions, animals...existence...the links...the reasons...the differences." he managed to say, before biting down on his lip hard enough that he started to bleed in order to avoid showing his teeth.
zamber - May 12, 2009 06:01 PM (GMT)
“Oh,” Zamber replied slowly, not fully comprehending. Looking up at the section of books they were in she realised that some previous reader had put the wrong books there, so that now many of the books were for potions, a subject that didn’t appeal to her. It seemed to her that the librarian wasn’t doing her job well, though it was probably hard trying to keep track of all the books.
Automatically she took out her wand and muttering a word she couldn’t remember hearing under her breath she gave it a flick. The books moved, rearranging themselves and returning to their proper places. For a few seconds she stared at the books, feeling a little shocked.
“Erm, that might make things a little easier, but only if you know what section you could find the answer in,” she spoke, hesitantly and pulled a book from the shelf, entitled The Inner Beast. She had no idea what the other guy was looking for but things could become clearer.
XIII - May 12, 2009 06:33 PM (GMT)
Mat fell to the ground, tears escaped his eyes. He curled up into a ball, quiet sobs could be heard if one listened closely enough. His fingers clenched his shirt so tightly that it began to tear. The blood from his lip started to flow down to his chin. For a minute he looked like the most innocent, yet most hurt creature alive. However his eyes cringed and he jumped up and slammed into a book shelf, knocking books down, he turned towards Zamber, growling and hissing he stared at her and the book she was holding.
zamber - May 12, 2009 08:06 PM (GMT)
Zamber watched what Matt was doing unsure whether she should intervene before he caused some serious damage, whether to himself or his surroundings. Before she had chance to act or even fully process what was going on he had turned to stare at her, looking almost like a caged animal that was prepared to rip apart anyone that came near. An inkling of what was going on came to mind but she didn’t act on the thought, needing more facts or proof before she mentioned it.
“Might be something in here,” she said, gripping the book with two hands and holding it out in front of her while side stepping the last book to fall to the floor. With it came a cloud of dust that just begged her to sneeze. But she managed to hold it, not wanting to spread any germs she might have.
XIII - May 12, 2009 08:18 PM (GMT)
Mat shook his his head, his faced calmed down and he regained a human, but hurt look to his eyes. "It hurts...it hurts so bad." He said while holding himself, leaning against a bookshelf and slowly sinking to the ground. He muttered to himself "Why...why does this have to happen...why can't I be like others..."
zamber - May 12, 2009 08:38 PM (GMT)
Following his descent to the ground with her eyes, she dropped the book to the floor, letting it join those of the others. She crouched down next to him.
“So what exactly is happening?” she enquired, having a feeling that she wouldn’t have heard of the problem, it was no doubt magical and that was something she currently knew little about, it had only been the previous month when she had found out it existed, well for the second time anyway. Before her memory lapse she had a feeling that she had been learning quite a bit about magic and the strange.
XIII - May 12, 2009 09:06 PM (GMT)
Mat's entire body started to tremble "Humans...gets over it...animals...don't...I cant...and then...this...and...it hurts...it feels empty...AND IT HURTS" he yelled out the last part as tears came crashing out of his eyes. He tightened the grip he had on his arms, causing himself to bleed, and almost breaking his bones.
zamber - May 13, 2009 03:53 PM (GMT)
Eyes widening, Zamber crouched down and gripped his wrists firmly but gently. Carefully she tried to prise his hands away from his arms, to try and keep any damage he caused himself to the minimum. At the same time all the spells she knew flew through her head as she tried to find one that would help calm him. Nothing came to mind that even resembled it.
“Try to take deep breaths until you can think clearly again, then repeat what you just said,” the Ravenclaw student instructed, remember a time of panic that had caused her to do something stupid. Hopefully the situation wouldn’t escalate to that level, but already it was creeping close.
XIII - May 13, 2009 06:08 PM (GMT)
Mat, trembling, crying, made an attempt at speech "I should...I should...be...be able...able to... to...to..." before his voice was cut off. He suddenly stopped shaking, his eyes went white, his body went limp, he had no pulse, and his breathing had stopped.
zamber - May 13, 2009 07:05 PM (GMT)
Feeling no pulse from the wrists she held, Zamber dropped them and a single question bounded through her mind, what do I do? Scanning the room quickly she shouted for the Librarian who seemed to have stayed out of the way of the little book throwing, despite the damage it could cause.
Zamber started going through the motions of basic first aid that she didn’t know she knew. Already knowing that he wasn’t breathing or had no pulse rate she gently rolled him over, placing him on his back and put her hands above his heart. Pressing down then relieving pressure she began cardiopulmonary resuscitation quickly running through spells in her head that would help, but not fully comprehending any of them.
Hissing words under her breath a flow of magic entered the lifeless body, she felt certain that it would remove any blockages there might be but didn’t know how she knew or even if it was real. Swiftly moving her fingers she once more checked for breathing and a pulse wishing that she knew of something that would help.
Muttering under her breath a silvery shape sprouted from the end of her wand that had fallen out her pocket and rested against her leg. The Patronus formed a Lynx that quickly scurried off to get professional help.
XIII - May 13, 2009 07:10 PM (GMT)
Mat's eyes flashed black for just a second before returning to normal. His heart started beating an irregular beat. His breathing was very deep. He smiled a half smile and had a wild look upon his face. "Get of me human" He said in a much deeper, calmer, and more confident voice than earlier. His body tightened up and he put his fists on the ground.
zamber - May 13, 2009 07:23 PM (GMT)
Standing up and taking a step back, Zamber narrowed her eyes. She was guessing that Matt either had some alter ego, was being controlled or was being possessed. None of these ideas sounded too great and were likely to be about to wreak havoc. Of course it could just be some sick joke but she very much doubted that.
Glancing around she seized up the situation and flicking her wrist slightly, her wand was pulled into her hand by invisible threads. This shocked her but the feeling quickly disappeared, now was not the time.
XIII - May 13, 2009 07:37 PM (GMT)
Mat smiled and wiped himself off "Filthy human grime, how dare you get it all over my body." He slowly stood up, straight as a board. "That's right, just go to sleep," he said to himself, "now's my time for some fun 'brother'". He put his arms behind his back and stretched slowly, causing lots of cracks to be heard
zamber - May 13, 2009 07:44 PM (GMT)
Zamber said nothing, to shocked for words, but she couldn’t help the look of disgust that attached itself to her features and clouded her violet eyes. She looked the thing that was causing her so much displeasure up and down, trying to figure him out.
The cracking of bones caused her to wrinkle her nose distastefully, it was a sound that didn’t usually bother her and she didn’t believe that it gave people arthritis. An image crossed through her mind of flying objects and she crushed it down, not wanting that to happen again. Especially when she didn’t know the full situation.
XIII - May 13, 2009 07:49 PM (GMT)
Mat finished stretching and sniffed the air before bringing one of his injuries up to his mouth and began to lick his wound. He smiled as he tasted it. Looking at his face anyone could tell that he was enjoying himself. He finished licking the blood off his arm, and slowly walked up to Zamber. His stance gave him a towering presence. "Tell me human, where am I?" he asked staring into her eyes
zamber - May 13, 2009 07:56 PM (GMT)
Very conscious of her lowly height off 5 foot, Zamber stared him back into the eyes and didn’t allow herself to be intimidated. Standing her ground she lifted her hands and indicated the books before speaking, “take a look around you and take a wild guess.” Her hands moved to point at the school emblem printed on the side of a bookcase that included the name of the school.
Letting her hands fall to her side she took a deep breath deciding that it was better not to push her look by speaking more. Now she just wished that she didn’t just look like a small girl with little strength. She was proud to say that her looks were deceiving but they never helped her any in getting people to back down.
XIII - May 13, 2009 08:08 PM (GMT)
Mat look around him, and then he shook his head, and began to smile, blood showing on his teeth. "Do you know why I came here?" he asked stepping closer, so that there was only half an inch in between the two of them. he stared down at her and breathed on her.
zamber - May 14, 2009 01:31 PM (GMT)
“To the Library or to the school? Both of these I suppose you could have come to to learn,” Zamber spoke calmly, craning her neck, so as not to break eye contact and seem like the weaker one. Every muscle fibre screamed at her to get out of there but her determination and pride held her in place. At the moment the situation didn’t seem too bad, as long as she didn’t say anything stupid or start acting scared.
Zamber kept her face expressionless, dimly wondering if she had ever had acting lesson.
XIII - May 14, 2009 03:31 PM (GMT)
Mat inhaled slowly through his nose. Smelling blood, he licked his still bleeding lip, a drop of blood falling on to Zamber. "Both, I want to know what I could possibly come here for, besides of course, possibly some snacks." He said grinning.
zamber - May 14, 2009 07:37 PM (GMT)
“And what is your idea of a snack?” she asked suspiciously, not really sure she wanted to know. The mask that left her looking emotionless cracked, as she wrinkled her nose slightly as a droplet of blood fell onto her new plain black jumper. She was faintly glad that she tended to wear dark clothing as it would have shown up more on a pale colour.
“Episkey,” she muttered, absently, flicking a wand at his lip. This had been the first spell she had learnt after her ’accident’ and she should heal any minor wounds.
XIII - May 14, 2009 07:43 PM (GMT)
Mat smiled and opened his mouth, about to speak, before his eyes went white again. He started to tremble ever so slightly. He put his hands against the sides of his head. "Don't do this, you're too weak, you know need me." he said to himself. He put a hand on a bookshelf as he started to seizure, before hitting the ground. He was unconscious again, and as per before no pulse, and no breath.
zamber - May 14, 2009 07:56 PM (GMT)
Staring at Matt in shock Zamber wondered if he was about to turn back into himself. She didn’t feel the need to panic but all the same she bent down, willing everything to be OK and getting ready to act if need be.
XIII - May 14, 2009 07:59 PM (GMT)
After a couple of minutes Mat's chest started to rise and fall again, his pulse returned to normal, and, though he was still unconscious, tears started to slowly fall down his cheeks.
Vipera - May 16, 2009 03:45 AM (GMT)
:ninja: Vipera pulled her black blazer tighter against her body as her black curls bounced with every step. Her Slytherin skirt and matching green tie swished softly against her silk blouse. Her heels were a stark contrast, blood red pump sandals. It was quite a contrast but the red of her heels matched her lips and the green of the vest matched her eyes. Her favorite gold hoop earring hung from her lobes (16th birthday present from daddy before he died).
She sighed and moved her way through the shelves until she came to a table and stopped, dropping her bookbag on the adjacent chair and sitting on the table. She stared at the shelf for a moment, a little lost. the beginning of term- the last year.... and then it'd be over. And what would she do?
A.Komarov - May 16, 2009 03:57 AM (GMT)
Akos saw Vipera through the dusty bookshelves as she dropped her bookbag onto the chair. She seemed unfazed by everything around her. Akos highly doubted she noticed him as she entered the library. After a few moments of watching her, he decided to go over. He slowly made his way towards her. He didn't want to get off on the wrong foot with Vipera. He had observed and learned before how pugnacious she could be with those who impede upon her personal space.
When he reached her table, he simply said, "Need any help finding anything, Vipera?" As he said her name he was confronted by those glimmering emerald eyes. There was something about them. What lay behind her eyes were so well protected, though he could sense there was something there..something hidden. He was fascinated by them. He wanted to get to know Vipera, both the tough exterior, and the mysterious witch inside.
Allison Faye - May 16, 2009 05:51 AM (GMT)
Faye walked into the library, clutching her books tightly to her chest as she passed a ferocious looking slytherin girl staring at someone she didn't dare look up at. She scurried by them and turned into the rows of books, immediatey feeling more at home. She turned down one row of books after another, stroking their bindings and pausing every now and then to look at particular books, as if she were greeting old friends. As she stepped around another tall shelf, an appaling scent assaulted her. Harsh and slightly metalic, there was only one thing that smelled that way. Blood. Faye burst into the next row and saw a girl kneeling over a boy who had collapsed on the ground. "Oh!" she exclaimed, hurrying over. "Is he alright?" she asked the girl worriedly, crouching down next to them both.
Vipera - May 17, 2009 11:44 PM (GMT)
Emerald heels clicked as she turned to face Akos, arching an eyebrow.
"Hey," was her careless and cool reply. She settled back on the table and stared at the shelf.
"I have homework to do- not due till Monday but I wanted to get it done, but now I'm rethinking it. I don't need any help," she replied, in a matter of fact- almost dismissive tone. It was well known throughout the school that Vipera was a loner. It was just how she was brought up- to be a lone wolf- ferocious and tenacious and free from influence of others- always fighting something.....
And besides- non Slithys were deathly afraid of the girl. being Lord Voldemort's bastard child definitely was a cause to have a little fear. Sometimes Vipera hated that fear.
But most of the time......
She loved it.
There was a pause, not awkward in the least for her as she ran through her hidden thoughts like the tiger in the jungle.
"What are you up to Akos?"
A.Komarov - May 18, 2009 02:05 AM (GMT)
Akos softly leaned against the table, folding his arms slightly below his chest as he tilted his head somewhat while looking at the shelf. "I actually need to get some homework done for next week too but I'm not too sure I want to get it done right now either" he informed her.
Akos glanced over his shoulder to see a group of first year students walk into the library in awe of its size. Akos smirked, They have so much to learn, he thought to himself. Six years ago he had walked through those very same doors not knowing he would have to spend most of his final two years of school life in this library. He had learnt by his second year that it was better to get homework done and out the way early rather than putting it off and forgetting to hand it in, especially when you're a Slytherin. He had a reputation to be a clever student, this was something both his teachers and fellow students picked up on early in his years at Hogwarts. Now in his seventh year, he would have to spend a lot of time studying. His final year would bring about the N.E.W.Ts, and everyone knew they were not to be taken lightly. Akos still didn't know what he wished to do in the wizarding world once his time at Hogwarts would come to an end. He didn't think of it too much. As a child he had always imagined he would join the military back home in East Russia. Upon learning he was a wizard, his career prospects would undoubtably change.
Akos honestly had no idea why he had decided to make conversation at that time, especially in the library of all places. Over the past six years at Hogwarts, he had never really come in great contact with her. There was the odd glance in the corridor which was hardly ever returned by Vipera or the borrowing of a spare piece of parchment in class. He had never really sat and talked to her. He didn't really think about her much. Probably because she seemed so cold and belligerent. She never seemed to take the slightest interest in him, so he never bothered to completely return it. Not until the current school term that is. For some reason, this final year had gently swayed him into the direction of the other Slytherin Prefect. Something he had noticed upon returning to Hogwarts was how eager he was to converse with her. What he once thought of as an exorbitant hostile dispostion, he now interpreted quite simply as a bellicose shield. A wall of assertive security to protect the insecure, vulnerable girl that would definately be subject to social prejudice and discrimination...of course he could be completely wrong and she could just sometimes come across as a bitch for no valid reason at all.
Akos' head turned back towards Vipera. He took a brief moment to analyse her face. As she vacantly gazed at the bookshelf, there wasn't a great deal in her immediate appearance to indicate she was such very malicious at all. Maybe some Hufflepuffs would be intimidated by the full red lips or the dark mascara that contrasted with her pulchritudinous fair skin which strikingly brought out her vivacious emerald eyes. To Akos, her appearance neither bothered nor intimidated him. In fact, he thought the combination of her wicked black hair and fair complexion gave her a naturally enchanting look. This coupled with her slender, curvy figure, Akos had to confess, he found her quite attractive.
He picked out a random book from the shelf before sitting down at the table. Before he went to open the book, he shifted his dark eyes onto her clear green eyes once more and asked "Why the sudden change of heart anyway? Do you have any thing better to do right now?"

Seeing Matt regain consciousness, Zamber sighed with relief then looked up as a sound of exclamation flooded her senses. Turning around slightly, enough to make sure she could see both the student still on the floor and the newcomer.
“I think so,” she answered, knowing that he wasn’t in any immediate danger but that he wasn’t fully ‘alright either’, “Well that was a better explanation,” she continued slightly dryly. Not really sure what to do she helped him sit up and for once she wished that she carried a tissue or handkerchief with her. It wasn’t anything she had ever needed and she has learnt from experience that her tears only fell out of the public eye, there was just something that made her feel weak when people saw her crying.

Vipera - May 18, 2009 12:07 PM (GMT)
Vipera stared at the shelf a moment longer after he spoke, his thoughts obviously running in the silence. Yet, Vipera didn't bother to press the matter. Akos was of no concern to her. As far as she knew- he was just the other Slytherin prefect and of no importance. He was cute though, but she supposed he was too good of a student- too structured for her tastes.
Vipera certainly didn't know what she wanted n a man- but Akos had never been in the running. Even now he wasn't. He just hadn't caught her attention just yet. She frowned slightly, her lips almost a pout as she turned to meet his eyes.
"Something better to do than homework? Why that'd be anything Akos- just breathing is better than writing a sixteen page essay for Charms." she smirked, her eyes mischievous.

Mat's eyes suddenly shot open, as the top half of his body darted forwards, while his arms flew backwards, his hands clenched onto the bookshelf, as he coughed up some blood which landed on Zamber and Faye. He began gasping for hair, coughing on occasion, his grip on the bookshelf didn't loosen a bit. His eyes were wide open, but unable to focus. After several minutes his gasping began to become regular breathing, and his eyes saw the blood on Faye and Zamber. He stared for several seconds "No, I am so sorry, did I...I did that to you...didn't I. I am so sorry" He said closing his eyes and turning his head.
Allison Faye - May 18, 2009 11:32 PM (GMT)
"Don't worry about it." Faye said anxiously. "Are you alright? What happened?" she continued, looking back anfd forth between the other two.
