Title: KoRn
Description: awesome band. No, really.
Trash - August 6, 2007 04:18 PM (GMT)
Okay... I've always sort of liked KoRn, except for their cover of Word Up! because I despise that song with a vengence, and a week or so ago I got their second album "Life Is Peachy". KoRn released their first album in 1994 and are still going strong to this day. They are hailed as the originators of nu-metal, or at least the band that brought the genre to popularity. They also created the "Family Values" tour.
The band consists of:
Jonathan Davis - vocals, bagpipes.
James "Munky" Shaffer - guitar
Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu - bass
David Silveria - drums (on hiatus)
Joey Jordison - drums (back up band, temporary full-time drummer until the return of David)
There's also the back-up band, who perform in animal masks as inspired by the "See You On The Other Side" artwork :) they are not considered full members of the band as they are live-only performers.
The former guitarist was Brian "Head" Welch, who left because he found God living in a box in the corner of his house. No, only joking. In a quote of his, he left the band because he had "...chosen the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior, and would be dedicating his musical pursuits to that end".
Their albums are:
KoRn
Life Is Peachy
Follow The Leader
Issues
Untouchables
Take A Look In The Mirror
Greatest Hits, Volume 1
See You On The Other Side
Live And Rare
Chopped, Screwed, Life And Unglued
MTV Unplugged: KoRn
Untitled album
:) Discuss this amazing band here!
My favourite songs are "A.D.I.D.A.S", "Coming Undone", "Alone I Break", "Thoughtless" (both KoRn's version AND Amy Lee's version) and the live version of "Freak On A Leash" that features Amy Lee :)

*Choke, choke again
I thought my demons were my friends
Getting me in the end...there out to get me
Since i was younger ive tasted sorrow on the tongue
And this sweet sugar gun does not protect me*
How can anyone hate KoRn? I went mad over 'Coming undone' when i heard it on Scuzz and was forever listening to the video on the internet. Ive come to realise many of the other songs are just as brilliant and can't wait to get the new ablum!!!!
Chocolat64 - August 8, 2007 08:11 PM (GMT)
Coming Undone is the schweetness. I think any metal-head has that on their playlist, no matter what.
Trash - August 8, 2007 11:38 PM (GMT)
Probably, unless they are those h8rz who think that "new" KoRn is the suckage, which it isn't...
I do prefer "old" KoRn to "new" KoRn but I love both. But generally, given a choice between "Shoots and Ladders" and "Evolution" I'll choose "Shoots And Ladders".
But "Coming Undone" does win every time. Along with "Thoughtless", in which Jon manages to look like a phased-out Jack Sparrow, particularly when he's singing the lines "all my friends are gone, they died, they all screamed, and cried"...
sn_smpsn - August 8, 2007 11:39 PM (GMT)
hey now sarah lol i like evolution lol

i think Korn is to scremo
Trash - August 8, 2007 11:49 PM (GMT)
KoRn isn't scremo. They're not screaming or emo. They're nu-metals, and the originators of such.
So do I, Sean, but I would choose "Shoots and Ladders" over "Evolution". I love both new and old, I just have a preference for their older stuff. On a sort of ratio thing, if I listen to "A.D.I.D.A.S" twice a day, I'll probably just listen to "Evolution" the once.
sn_smpsn - August 9, 2007 04:55 AM (GMT)
lol well i used to listen to them all the time lol...ive got a bunch of songs on my comp lol
emmanuelle snape - August 9, 2007 09:08 AM (GMT)
The 'Thoughtless' video reminds me of chronicles of riddick with those pods. I do like the song and most of the videos are ace!
Trash - August 9, 2007 09:53 AM (GMT)
I think all the videos are ace...
My favourite videos are "Clown", "Thoughtless" and "A.D.I.D.A.S".
Jon Davis plays a great dead guy in "A.D.I.D.A.S" :P I watched a making of video for it though and he didn't look particularly happy after filming the scene in the bodybag... as I recall it looked like he was sweating like a pig....
Jon Davis is made of awesome.
Chocolat64 - August 9, 2007 11:32 AM (GMT)
Yeah, they have some sweet videos. For some reason, KoRn reminds me of System of A Down, even though they don't really sound anything alike.
I heart SOAD.
Trash - August 9, 2007 12:26 PM (GMT)
Ew, really? They're so different though. I don't really like them... except for the chorus type thing on "Chop Suey" or whatever it's called.
You know their video for "Twisted Transistor" where they did a spoof mockumentary "This Is Spinal Tap"-esque thing, with rappers including Snoop Dogg playing the band members? Snoop is so funny as Munky... And Jon is so funny as the represenitive of "Fony Music".
"We need to see bling bling! We need to see booty-shakin'!"
They're actually thinking of doing a full-length mockumentary of KoRn, featuring the rappers as Jon, Munky, David and Fieldy as they go through daily life... It would be SO funny.
emmanuelle snape - August 9, 2007 02:41 PM (GMT)
Snoop dog sits in that canavan ow and xibit is in it
Trash - August 9, 2007 03:48 PM (GMT)
Lil' Jon played Jon Davis, Xzibit as Fieldy, David Banner as David, and Snoop Dogg as Munky. :)
sn_smpsn - August 10, 2007 06:22 AM (GMT)
blah blah blah korn blah blah blah rock lol dan dun dun dun dan lol...srry i got bored lol
emmanuelle snape - August 10, 2007 09:21 AM (GMT)
I know this is off the point but last night there was a Jon Davis look alike on The Bill but was a lot older...did anyone else see him?
Trash - August 10, 2007 12:58 PM (GMT)
Really?! I must've missed that, even though I was watching the Bill and everything! Was he just a character for that episode or do you know if he'll be in more? It'd be awesome to see a Jon Davis lookalike on the Bill...
And Elle: What was the character's name? Do you know? Or the actor's?
Mind you, I consider the Bill the place for Eastenders and Corination Street rejects.... oops, off-topic.
I freaked out this morning, lol. I never usually pay attention to Limp Bizkit (?!) but because Fred Durst is a friend of Jon's, this morning when "Break Stuff" came on I decided to watch it. I completely freaked out - I'd seen the video before I had NOT noticed that Jon was in it, lol, I was like "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH THAT'S JON!!!"
PS: Elle, looks like we're going to have to wait til next years Family Values tour to see KoRn live. They only had one UK date this year. I wonder if they're going to do a new tour, though, to promote their new album? We might see them this year after all.
PSS: What are we going to refer to their new album as? Jon said in an interveiw that he was just going to let the fans call the album whatever they like. It's an untitled album so... should we just call it Untitled?
emmanuelle snape - August 10, 2007 06:22 PM (GMT)
We should think of a kick a$$ name for the ablum that we will always use like a code or something!
P.s: The look alike was the Father of the boy that was helped to commit suicide...he was called Ed!
LadyStar - August 10, 2007 06:24 PM (GMT)
I've never been a huge fan of them but I own 'Follow The Leader' & 'Issues' and I love them both xD
emmanuelle snape - August 10, 2007 06:33 PM (GMT)
Like me+ Crimson are JON DAVIS LOVERS!!!!!!
Hey... i don't mind as long as we go at some point...we'll just have to wait and see...SO EXCITED!!!!!
Trash - August 10, 2007 08:23 PM (GMT)
DAMM RIGHT GIRL!
Remember we have to go see his movie when it comes out!
*pimps the movie* It's called Sin-Jin Smyth.
On Halloween, the Devil appears in two places at once. Somewhere in India and a cemetary in Kansas.
On November the Second, the day of the dead, two prison wardens are transporting the prisoner with no identity and no history who goes just by the name of Sin-Jin Smyth...
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=PMoJ8lHol3w - Trailer.
I'm sorry but how distinctive are Jon's hands? That's all you see in the trailer, his hands, but they're really unique - as long as you were a decent KoRn fan you'd know that was him, even if you didn't know he was in the film.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=a2VYoDU2qBw&...related&search= - Jon's interveiw about it.
emmanuelle snape - August 11, 2007 08:52 AM (GMT)

zamber - August 14, 2007 03:01 PM (GMT)
HAH, my sister got banned from playing KoRn in the house when I was very little because I kept singing the songs
I have ony heard a few of the songs but I have liked them all. Not to sure about the video's though.
Trash - August 15, 2007 08:15 AM (GMT)
LOL! oh dear -.-
And why? Don't you like the video? They're so awesome though! Especially A.D.I.D.A.S, Jon & Munky are really hot in that. I love the vid for "Alone I Break" too, because insane!Jon is cool... and Evolution's vid is awesome too because of the shot where Munky leans towards the camera with his guitar and looks really hot. lol.
Me and Elle are big Dread Duo fans....
emmanuelle snape - August 15, 2007 08:29 AM (GMT)
